I took my car to 2 other places and was told 2 different things I needed replace, Sly told me I didn't need to replace it at all, it tested fine. They aren't out to scam you. Will be coming back! I've had my A/C busted on my '95 Camaro for about a year, and have taken it to several shops to get it serviced, but none ever completely solved the problem. Mr. Aldada (Sly) and the guys at Expert Autocare were able to not only fix my A/C, but diagnosed and fixed the source of the problem so it won't happen again, all while keeping me notified of what was going on while my car was there. Service was very professional, honest, friendly, and prompt, all things that I look for in an auto shop. I was down in Costa Mesa on business and on the drive down the 405 the road rumble in the Subaru seemed louder than usual and at slow speed, there was this horrible grinding rubbing noise coming from the wheel wells every revolution. So I found the nearest AAA rated garage, went there. He cdn't fit me in straight away, but assured me it won't break down in local driving and to bring it in the next morning. So I did. He called two hours later and so I went to pick up the car and he said some thing had come loose and rubbing against the brakes and they fixed it. and NO CHARGE ! Such honesty.. cos I had worries about bearings wear, or struts or some such. I told them I was from out of town and I knew nothing about cars too. Well, I have used this business a long time ago and had no problems. This time we had to have a car that was in an accident towed there by AAA. The problem was that it was just after closing and we placed the car in a parking space next to another car that looked as if it had been there along time based on the dirty windows that showed it has not gone anywhere for a while. The AAA people wanted me at first to park it next to their door and I said no, that I did not want to inconvenience the shop by having a car that had 4 blown tires. The next business day which was the day I also was at the VA hospital checking on my condition from the accident I talked to the owner and he was extremely rude to me saying that I have it parked there when it should have been taken to a body shop. He stated that he did not have the machine to see if it was totaled or not based on the chassis. He yelled at me like it was my fault and yelled out,.. "it is ridiculous" He stated this a few times and I had to hang up. I tried to call back and start over after a time out and he yelled again. I had to hang up again and I called AAA to try to talk to him and work out a solution. He also stated that I took two parking spaces and that was totally untrue. I parked parallel and close to the other car. I will never go to this place again.The reason I gave a two star rating instead of one is that the owner's employee was nice to us when we picked up the car. read more

Sly is the man. I have taken all three of my different cars here I have owned and he has giving me great service every time. From an 02' Acura RSX type S, an 02' Subaru WRX, to a 96' Jeep Cherokee. He has never charged me more than I needed to pay and I usually actually end up needing less work than I thought I needed. He also gives you very thorough receipts which helps when you want to sell your car. It might be a little more expensive than some cheapo mechanic in downtown Santa Ana like Klizzera went to, but you will only spend what you need to and you will not have to go back a week or two later. Sly is the best! I've brought my vehicle to Sly, and have had friends do the same, and Sly is a consummate professional! I have had nothing but great experiences with him, and everyone I know who has used him, feels the same way. He takes the time to explain everything that he is doing so it is very clear, and he does this without charging an arm-and-a-leg. Sly and Michael are the best! I feared my 18-yr-old car wouldn't pass the smog inspection. I was right. But only because some other mechanic had replaced a hose with one that didn't fit. Michael showed me the reason it failed and suggested I get the correct hose from the dealer. $21 and easy to replace it myself. The repair enabled me to pass the inspection. In a day and age when honest auto mechanic seems to be an oxymoron, these guys will convince you there are mechanics you can trust! BTW, they smog diesels too. read more

I was referred to this by shop by AAA after my vehicle overheated 20 miles from home. I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised when Sly's diagnosis of the problem turned out to be spot on! It was late Saturday, so parts stores were closed. I remembered coming here 2 months ago wanting to get my A/C charged and i was quoted $180! And he said that if there was a leak, then it would be more which is understandable but what i couldn't understand was the exaggerated price.... I was like "hhmmm....I don't remember getting your A/C recharged to be that expensive. Well, i didn't have that kind of money on me and my credit card is already pretty close to being maxed out. Anyhow, i went home and i called around and everyone was telling me it would cost about $115. Eventually i found this place in Santa Ana for only $85! It was in a sort of "hard" neighborhood on the corner of Macfadden and Harbor Blvd behind a SHOE CITY. I'll find the name of that place and review that business later. Anyhow, what offended me the most was the conversation that i had with the guy at this Expert Autocare. I remember him telling me that i won't find a more reasonable price than here so i might as well stop wasting time and just get the A/C recharged here. OMG....because i'm a girl doesn't mean he should have been so damn shady. My 2 star rating is based upon his dishonesty and hustle... Maybe his other services are good but i don't think i'll come back to even try... read more
