Kitchen remodel, new cabinets were installed and a new pantry. It was beautiful! 2 years later, the walls in the pantry separated and the shelves fell. I called and someone came out to inspect. I was told they would come out and fix. I've called multiple times, still nothing. It's been a year and I've had to live with countertops filled with items that should be in my cabinet. I had two projects that Ron S. wrapped into a $24k contract: For the door installation they were able to find a door matching the rest in my house and installed it expertly. I also needed a shower stall replaced due to leakage and rotted floor under the house. Ron S. promised that he could find tiles matching the existing ones, which turned out not to be true. He also forgot about the rotted floor. If I didn't speak up they would have left it there and built the new shower on top of it. I frequently had no idea when the workmen were supposed to show up, and my texts were often ignored. Once they did show up when they weren't supposed to and proceeded to search around my property and scared a lady living behind my house. They dumped cement water over a rock bed, cementing it in place. The workmen only spoke spanish, and nobody was there to manage them so that task fell to non-spanish speaking me which was very frustrating. They initially left holes in the grout when tiling the shower, and had to come back to fix it... but used the wrong color giving it an awful patchy look. They had to come back again to fix that, after I had to show them how to do it, at which point they damaged the tiles with the box cutters they used to clean out the grout. Not only that but they didn't even clear out all the wrong-colored grout. I was initially promised that I would be in good hands, and ended up having to manage my own project with corners figuratively and literally cut in every way. Expert Home Builders Inc does shoddy work and does not stand behind their work. They did a very poor job installing a replacement window in our bedroom. It looked ok, but when the first hard rains hit, it leaked like a sieve. They refused to do the repair work, so we had to pay another contractor to do the job right -- effectively doubling the cost of the window to us. The contractor that did the repair work found that Expert Home Builders had left 2 large gaps in the seal around the window. Disregard their name -- these shysters are definitely not experts. read more

I'd like to give a big shout out to Expert Home Builders I started out with a leaking skylight on a flat roof after the first rains this year catching the water in a bucket in the house. I had sent word out to several different roofing companies and received various bids. The representative from Expert Home Builders was a young man named Barack and was the last one to bid. He asked if he could come inside the house to look where it was leaking and immediately could see some black mold in the drywall and without asking me, he called someone to come out to test the spot and confirmed it to be black mold then safely cut out and disposed of the hazardous waste. I told him he was the last one to check the roof out and the only one to ask about the inside damage and I was impressed by how he took control with the mold. He could see I had termite damage to my Bamboo hardwood floor, and it was one of the things on my list. I'm a DIY kind of guy and not too young anymore in my mid-seventies. So we talked about demo the floor and do termite work and replace the floor and a new flat roof over the house and my garage. Once the floor was out to the concrete foundation we could see cracks where the termites had entered subterranean then to the bamboo floor probably from the Northridge earthquake. That changed the plans for the foundation needing work before the flooring and we discovered evidence of rodent dropping and chewed up ducting in places for the AC/Heater and the original insulation was installed when the house was new in 1967. He helped me to get a no interest, no pre-payment penalty loan due in 13 months from completion of work. So this was my chance to pull the trigger and get everything done today and pay it off in April 2026. I'm getting to know this young man and his general knowledge to all phases of the work. So now I have crew come in to do the insulation work and I cant say enough how they created a dust proof plastic enclosed walkway from the attic out to the front door and these men worked tirelessly bagging 2000' sq.ft of insulation and vacuuming , sanitizing and spraying for rodents then installed the new insulation all in the same day. The next day one man came to finish up with patching vents and entryways to the attic with screen mesh to prevent them from entering so easily. During the floor demo I was having electrical problems tripping breakers so I have extension cords going to the refer and freezer and its raining when all of a sudden Barack magically appeared with his electrician and two other electricians for a total of three guys that have worked 10 and 15 years with the older electrician for a combined 70-75 years' experience. They completely solved not only that issue but they went through my home like Trumps DOGE and solved an issue with an electrical outlet in the bedroom that has plagued many electricians and has never worked for at least ten years. This amazing team trouble shoot and fixed every electrical issue in my home in about 35 minutes. I never asked for any electrician but it shows how observant Barack is to your needs. The foundation treatment for termites was followed by epoxy injection to the cracks and cleaning loose cement for the waterproofing to the foundation then leveled everything through out the house with leveling cement, installed the flooring with two men and the next day four men came and completely trimmed out everything with new base boards and to watch them work is amazing . The work ethic of everyone from the roofers to the insulation guys to the flooring men and of course the electricians is something not seen much anymore these days and Expert Home Builders has it all under one roof. And working with Barack was an excellent experience. When you tackle all these home improvements on your own, it can be done, it takes time and dealing with people that want to blame someone else's work for something not fitting correctly so you have to deal with all the hiccups along the way. It was a very pleasurable experience to see everything completed and in such a timely manner. I would highly recommend getting those home improvements lumped together and with the no interest loan due in 13 months its like Wimpy would say...For a Hamburger today I'll gladly pay you on Tuesday read more

After filing a complaint with the contractor's state licensing board and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, I finally got the attention of Expert Home Builders and they returned the $3900 I had paid them. The Expert Home Builders rep who called me admitted that the complaints were why he was calling to arrange the return of the payments I had made. If I had not filed the complaints I am sure they would have simply kept my money and continued to ghost me. My advice: do not under any circumstance do business with this company. read more

Simple job estimated to be completed in couple of weeks ended up taking months. They hire subcontractors and, other then coming to pick up the money, this company does not come if there are issues. You are left to communicate with the subcontractors who then hire workers that don't speak English and don't do what you tell them. The subcontractors are not present everyday and the workers come at random times or don't show up at all. Have to call the subcontractor then the subcontractor tells u to call the Contractor to get anything done. No one takes responsibilities and they try to upsell you on other issues they find wrong. Most of the reviews on yelp and Google are fake. At the end just wanted them out of the house. They left a mess, dust and trash all over the place. read more

Be careful and supervise the workers while they're working. They will find shortcuts or just not do what they have been contracted to do. They did a small job for me that was pretty costly only to find out that they did a half-assed job and I still have water intrusion. When I called them to inspect their work that is under their one-year warranty, they give you the run around, schedule the inspection, and then just don't show up. Happened a few times over the course of 3 months. They pass your call on to someone else who ignores you. Just looks like they're trying to delay me until the warranty expires.
