I needed some alterations in a pinch for an out-of-town wedding. The store where I bought the dress recommended Expert Tailors. I hurried over and explained the situation, tried on my silk cocktail dress and consulted on the changes needed (a tuck at the shoulders, a nip in the bust). I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I picked up my dress three days later and could not have been more pleased. The alterations look great (i.e. you can't tell they happened, which is always a sign of good work), the dress fits perfectly, and the price was way lower than I expected for a rush service on such a tricky fabric (less than $40). From the outside, or even a few steps in you might not be sure what to expect, but I assure you this place is a keeper. Just be sure to bring cash or your checkbook - no credit cards accepted. This shop was recommended to me by a family member. Their service was prompt and quick to respond to my requests. I had them alter my tuxedo that I wore at my wedding. The quality of the hems that I had done were satisfactory and there was quick turnaround. When you go to pay BRING CASH. The location is a little out of the way for where I live now, but the price and service may be worth the drive until I find a new tailor closer to downtown. read more

I have been going to this place for alterations for over 10 years. Unusually I just had a very upsetting encounter during my last visit there today, as I practically left in tears. The owners, whom are always easy to reason with and very warm, were completely out of line today. I had a tiny top that I was having altered on my neck line and my arms. I wanted the neck line to go midway chest area. The lady said it makes her uncomfortable to go that low as she feels it may not look good (although I showed her a photo of a shirt altered like this with the same fit and style) My husband was there so I asked him as well and he said whatever she says. Before leaving I asked how much and she quoted me $40. Today I came to retrieve my top and tried it on. The stitching was perfect, however, like I assumed it should have been a bit lower and would have been fine. I asked that she go a little lower and she then told me she would have to charge again for that. I was pretty upset so I left it be, I am not willing to pay again for a service you persuaded me into. I believe she should have done it again being that she was certain it would not be good, she even put me in the spot and said, you asked your husband and told me so. Anyways as I handed my card over they tell me they do not accept card so I left to withdraw $40. I come back to pay and she changes me $55 but then says I'll take $5 off, like she is doing me a favor. I then state that she had quoted me $40. She then tells me that she did not quote me that price! I politely look at her and tell her at this point that I have always been satisfied with their work and always go to them for alterations but now on this occasion I am extremely upset and feel that she is not doing good business here. She persistently argues that I am wrong and she did not quote me $40 and that the cut is how I asked for it to be done. Before this disagreement really falls into an argument, I cut her off, pay, and leave as quickly as possible. I'll never go back. read more
