Terrible. Been here twice and had an issue both times. Most recently, I asked them to repair pockets on a jacket. They sewed part of the pocket completely shut and didn't address a ripped seem (see pic). I asked for a refund and the guy literally refused which is crazy. I think the source of the issue is there are too many people between the customer and the actual tailor so communication breaks down. I suggest finding a place where you can talk to the actual person who will be doing the alteration. read more

British Custom Tailors helped me out when I needed some pants hemmed fast, just a couple of weeks before Derby. Five stars all around! It started when I wanted to bring a particular pair of pants on a trip I was about to leave on. I used Yelp's "Request Pricing" feature to ask British Custom Tailors, along with some other tailors, if they would be able to handle my tailoring job within the week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]BCT got back to me within the hour, and the next morning I was at the shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This shop is near Holiday Manor, and it was neat seeing how it has an elegant showroom in front and then a larger area in back where the alterations are made. Men's suits seem to be their focus, so if that's something you're in the market for, definitely check them out. My pants were done less than a week later, and they were hemmed perfectly. I ordered a tuxedo online so I could attend a chamber event, and it took longer than I expected to get the delivery. I knew that the slacks would need to be tailored, and I worried about having it done in time for the event, which is 2 weeks away. I sent out a message, on Yelp, to all the tailors in Louisville and British Custom Tailors were the first to respond. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and he was very professional. They were able to have the slacks completed and ready to pick up within a week! The fit is awesome! The only thing I have a small issue with is that the hem is slightly to short, maybe a half of an inch. No worries though, this will allow my Turquoise Tapestry socks to show more. How a tailor saves the day: Came all the way from Houston, TX to Louisville for a wedding to discover my new dress (bought online) is too big. If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. I went to get a pair of pants hemmed on my dad's recommendation: he said that British Custom Tailors were great and that he never went anywhere else to get his clothes worked on, even though they are on the other side of town from us. I felt that with such a strong recommendation from my dad, how could I not go and give the place a try? Even before entering the business, which is located in a small strip mall off of Brownsboro road, you can tell that it is a well taken care of and classy business. The storefront does not look anything like the other stores in the strip mall. The inside is just as lovely as the outside. There is quite a bit of hardwood interior and comfy couches you can sit on while you wait. They also have a candy dish! Yum! The staff there will help you promptly and treat you with kindness no matter what they are doing. As soon as I walked in, the woman working came to help me. She asked me to go try on my dress pants with the shoes I'd like to wear with them so that she could see how much she needed to hem. The whole process took just a few minutes. Despite the fact that I needed my pants very promptly and they normally would've applied a rush charge, they did not. I thought that was very kind of them. They are very accommodating people and I will definitely return for any future garments I may need altered. read more

I have been looking for a reliable tailor since I moved to Louisville and haven't had great luck. I was really hopeful that this place would be it, given that they have higher quality materials than nearly anywhere else in town. The customer service is miserable though. I've been 3-4 times and each time seems like either an inconvenience or that what I needed was unimportant. You shouldn't dread going to the tailor. Other reviews have called it arrogance. I sense that too, which is weird. It's a tailor in a middle America strip mall, very very far from Saville Row. I recommend working on creating an inviting atmosphere. This could be the top shop in Louisville. It certainly isn't right now. read more

This is a great place to get alterations done. I've been going to them for a couple of years. I have had numerous shirts altered, pants hemmed and had to get a hat fixed that my dog had made a chew toy out of. They fixed my hat while I waited and did a great job. It looks like new. The hat was probably a little out of the ordinary, but shows their wide range of skills at handling any of your alteration needs. They are very nice and highly professional. I have experienced more problems than are to be expected from tailoring. It is common for things to need one or two adjustments when you get them back from any tailor, however British Custom Tailors often handed me back garments that were completely untouched. Sometimes I would drop off several garments for alterations and half of them would be done, the other half would have nothing done to them at all. At other times I was calling in to pick something up and when I got there it was not only not finished, but it hadn't even been started on. I cannot justify the exorbitant prices they charge based on their shoddy service. I have found better tailors that are much cheaper. DEFINITELY AVOID! read more

Prices are outrageous and the storeowner is cocky. After my bad experience, a friend of mine went in to ask about getting a blouse stitched for an Indian wedding. The quoted price was $600!
