I've taken two bridesmaid dresses to LCT for alterations. The first one was done perfectly and on time. The second I brought in just today. I put the dress on and the tailor told me it didn't need any alterations if I could find a slightly higher heel. His honesty was very refreshing since he could've charged me for the 1 inch of hemming (and whatever else since I wasn't sure what needed to be done). He will take the time to make modifications that fit your tastes as well as make suggestions for your body style. Its completely out of my way but worth the extra drive to get work that elevates rather than detracts, when clothes fit poorly they reflect on you and people do judge you by your presentation. I'm sad to see poor reviews of this shop, because I experienced fantastic and personal customer service. I added a very heavy beaded sash to the lace of a wedding dress, and Mark did a quick and beautiful job. When I came in to pick it up, he did a last-minute touch-up to make sure it fit on me. This place is great. I have worn suits everyday for work for several years, and my body type requires me to buy larger suits and have them altered down. so I have quite a bit of experience with good and bad tailors. If a tailor is bad, a suit is easily ruined. If the tailor is good, the suits will fit right and a $200 suit can be made to look like a $1000 suit. Mark is excellent. It costs a little more than some places, but he's dependable and the work is excellent. I come in every 3 or 4 months, and he always remembers me. He's a really nice guy. read more

I am furious with this place. I drooped off a pair of track pants that I needed hemmed and was going to wear the day of my wedding while getting ready. He had said he would have them done the day before, but I later realized I would not be able to pick them up that day so I called and asked if he could have them done a day earlier. He said yes and then completely forgot. I showed up to pick them up and they had not been touched. My mother had to bring sewing supplies with her and hem them the day of the ceremony! read more

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! I dropped off a skirt that needed to be hemmed and taken up in the hip area. He pinned it up and stated his price of $95.00. When I went back to pick it up, he had only hemmed it and insisted he never pinned the sides and that he would have charged more if that were the case. Do yourself a favor and just go to London Custom Tailors for your alterations straight away. After a few wrong turns, we entrusted the alterations to my daughter's wedding dress to Mark, and it is the best decision we could have ever made. Don't search the internet endlessly, ask others for recommendations, and still make a mistaken choice in the end. It is a surprising pleasure in this day and age, to receive such individualized service and impeccable results. Here is a person who is a fine gentleman and businessman, an excellent craftsman, and has the artistic eye to understand the drape of the fabric, the desires of the customer, and the subtleties of the excellent fit. He holds himself to such a high standard of excellence and perfection in his work, that the customer's own standards can only be exceeded. I don't know about price comparisons with other tailors or seamstresses, but I do know that if you want an equally high return on your investment, at an affordable price, you will go see Mark. I am sure he is competitive, considering his quality, to say the least. Regarding input from other reviews, this is a very reliable establishment. If there are concerns about advance dates for appointments, or promised item completion, just confirm beforehand. There can always be unforeseen circumstances, and with a small staff - which is a good thing in these impersonal times - anything can happen. He will work with you, absolutely. If cheapest price or fastest turn-around time are your priorities, regardless of quality, then look elsewhere. I am convinced Mark can't allow himself to do less than his best, and turn out substandard workmanship for less money or in faster time. I am now considering taking my less-than-formal, ill-fitting, or out-of-date, items here for a makeover.
