Four weeks out from my wedding and everything was planned and payed for- except my suit. My mother-in-law swore up and down that I'd be up there in a tuxedo t-shirt. Harry got me in for an initial consultation/measurement where I brought some inspiration pictures of the suit I had in mind and we spent some time flipping through his library of fabric samples. He helped me select material that was in my budget and weather appropriate (Important as I was getting married in the Texas hill country). We had a single fitting and two weeks later I picked up my suit, two shirts for myself, one for my father, and a pair of altered pants for our dress rehearsal. While I don't recommend waiting that late in the game to get a suit made, nor do I condone asking such a talented team to rush work like this, I cannot stress enough how awesome of an experience it was getting this suit made and how lucky I was to have a man as patient and kind as Harry making it all happen. As for the suit? Fit is perfect. Had I realized how comfortable a well tailored suit could be, I would have saved myself a lot of time and money shopping around at department stores through the years. read more

So impressed with Ace Custom Tailors! I needed my bridesmaid dress tailored quickly. I brought it in, and the main gentleman who works there quickly put in pins for where it needed to be taken in. On my first visit, I was out in less than 10 minutes. And today I picked up my dress, right when he said it would be done. It fits perfectly now. And again, I was on my way with my dress in 10 minutes. Ace is a clean shop. I've been to some that have fabric scraps on the floor -- not so here. I believe Ace is mainly for men's clothes. When you walk in, there's men's suit fabric and examples along the walls. And when I was there, I overheard the owner quoting a price for a custom suit. Went to pick up a dress my girlfriend had altered for a wedding and was SHOCKED at the price, over $100 to just hem the dress, no further complicated alterations. After a lengthy discussion, the employee was not only unwilling to tell me what they did that warranted such a high price but also rudely left the conversation and went to the back of the store while we were talking. She has had dresses altered before in a similar way and it has never cost more than $40. This dress was simple, no beading, no crazy fabrics, completely absurd. My secret to looking hot! You know that adage that states you should always get your clothes tailored. Well you should get your clothes tailored because when you do people always notice. Ace Tailors is fantastic at making me feel like all my clothes were designed just for me! I have had everything from Derby dresses, silk gowns, broken zippers, and patterned outfits altered and all of them have come back in perfect condition. I have also lost weight dropping me down two dress sizes so I took my favorite dresses in to be re-fitted for a cruise. I had my dresses back by the time of my cruise and they were all tailored so perfectly that you could not even tell an alteration had occurred. Turn around time for Ace Custom is normally no more then a week. My lack of the fifth star is because some alteration places will dry clean and press your garments, Ace is not one of those places. I am not sure if it saves me money, but the costs are pretty resonable. I will keep bringing my clothes back to Ace Custom Tailors because this business fits me like a glove! read more

He made recommendations that I would not have thought of, including tapering the trouser legs slightly so they looked better and work on the jacket shoulders. Came here to get my pants altered. Dropped it off more than two weeks ago and when I came to pick it up, they said they need 30 more minutes to work on it. They wouldn't change the price even though they didn't finish on time and they're working on it last minute, which means rushed/sloppy work. I will never come back here for alterations ever again. I took my bridesmaid dress in and came back 2 weeks later to pick it up and they could not find my dress. I waited there for 15 min while the guy looked for my dress. He proceeded to ask me not once, not twice but three times if I was SURE that my bridesmaid dress was black. I had to show him a picture so he would stop asking me if I was sure that it was black. I went to the car to get my ticket number thinking that it would help and it didn't. I left and came back after about 45 min and they finally found it. Went to try it on and the alterations were completely off. The guy told me that he would take care of it and reduce the price for me when I came back in to pick it up a couple days later. Went back in and they still charged me $100 after everything that happened and the guy was super rude about the entire situation. He told me they never lost the dress, that I only waited 20 minutes and that he did me a favor by taking $20 off. So if you do decide to go here, make sure that you're prepared to deal with shitty customer service and pay a ridiculous amount for alterations also. read more

Great option for tailoring formal pieces! I brought my bridesmaid dress to them and got it back within 6 days. The length was taken and there was a stitch added to the v neck to ensure the chest didn't open when bending. It cost $58 ($50 for length). He took several minutes to explain to me the repair that he would make to my slacks and took time to get to know me. I also spoke with him about Made to measure and bespoke suits. I brought in 3 hats to have patches sewn on. Each one came out bad. One is crooked, one the stitching isn't straight and is all over the place and the last one is all bunched up. He didn't charge much so that's good but then again it was all bad work and ruined my patches. I am currently in the market for a nice suit and if he would've done better work on this small job he would have gotten the job. I wouldn't recommend this place and won't be going back.
