This guy gave me the best haircut it was so quick and easy right on the same block as the hotel. And what a deal $25 for a haircut, they shave your neck with a straight razor and hot compress. I was in and out in 15mins tops. The guy was nice, did a proper job with the quickness. If I lived nearby this guy would be my barber for sure! read more

Went here based on the reviews but the haircut was really bad and amateur. The left side of my head had a bowl-like cut to it with zero fade to it. So the left side of my hair now looks like a mushroom. The overall cut took 7-10 minutes which again speaks to the amateur nature of the cut. Maybe I had a new barber and the other ones are legit but I won't be coming back. Still gets two stars based on the good price. read more

Professional cut, price is comparable to others in the financial district. A good barber is worth his weight in gold.

I've had two haircuts here now. One was pretty good and grew out well, and extra points to the kind man who let me come in right as he was closing. The other, however, was one of the worst I've had in recent memory--the front was uneven like you wouldn't believe (I couldn't tell until later because of how he had it combed). Just don't go the guy on the right as you walk in would be my advice. I'm going to give it one more try because it's convenient and decently priced, but I couldn't give it a full endorsement quite yet. read more

This is the third place I've checked out since I've been in FiDi. Solid haircut. It normally takes a while to find the right person. Fima is attentive to detail. Pretty damn good. I did want a full scissor cut but he used clippers on sides. I will go again likely, especially for $23. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT A FADE. Went here today because of the great reviews on yelp, and I recently moved to the Financial District. The guy who cut my hair was nice, and assured me he knew how to do a simple fade (1 on the sides, 2 on top), and a line up. He then proceeded to use a 3 1/2 on top, and quite possibly the worst fade I've ever seen. I asked for "points" on the sideburns, and I got sideburns that looked like rectangles. These guys may be good at other types of cuts, but if you're gonna call yourself a barber shop, you HAVE to know how to do a clean shave fade. Plus, they charged me $20, when I could've gone to my other barber for $15. Sorry Expo, but I'd rather go somewhere else for my cuts. read more

I'm risking letting a good secret out, but this place deserves all the praise they get. I've only had my hair cut by Isaac, but I'm sure everyone else is just as great. At a glance he was able to discern more about my hair than most barbers care to notice. The other reviews are spot on-he's careful, yet quick. In and out in 20 minutes or so, but he's still very meticulous. For people like me with thick, straight hair, you'll be happy to know that he uses thinning shears. Typically I have to go to a salon to get my hair thinned out, so I don't even bother asking at barber shops; but he took one glance at my hair and said "I'm going to thin it out up top instead of cut it, is that okay?" Music to my ears. After I was done my wife told me this is the best haircut I've ever had. That's more important than any other metric I can think of. $20 is a steal, and every 6th cut is free? My long search for the perfect barbershop in Manhattan is finally over. read more

You guys deserve more reviews, because you are doing a great job. A fantastic addition to the neighborhood, which is sorely missing great barbers. The team here are professional, friendly, absolutely thorough - an all round great job. Each session offers a lot of attention to the cut itself, followed by a hot face towel. The standard cut is $20 + tip, but they offer a "Every 5th Cut Is Free" card which makes the price point for locals pretty darn good. The only piece of feedback, the cuts take a little longer than your average barber, so you should not aim going in here when your running late to that next after-work drinks event. Still this is a minor criticism given the overall experience is really great. Definitely give the place a go. read more

Could not have asked for a better haircut from Issac. I previously had an issue with always getting a military style haircut. This one is very professional. I am very happy to have found this place. I came in for a straight razor shave & I left with a smooth face. To start, he leans back the barber chair for you to relax. The steamed towel is placed on your face and it's rubbed on to get your skin to warm up. Then the first layer of a thick cream is applied to your face. The next layer is the warm shaving cream. Then your finally ready for the straight razor. When your face is done with the initial shave, then an after shave liquid is applied to your face and he does touch ups to assure that you've received a thorough shave. That's pretty much it and if you feel a spot was missed just mention it and it'll be taken care of. That's my experience. read more

Maybe I caught this barber on a bad day, maybe I just have much higher standards, but my first experience here was a bad one, so I don't understand the strong rating. Quick rundown of everything that went wrong... 1) barber palmed me in the eye 3 times and never acknowledged it or apologized 2) barber's breath was awful. I know this is kind of typical, but his was particularly rancid 3) he had me in and out of his chair in under 5 minutes 4) multiple signs state that the classic cut ($20) includes shampoo and hot towel, neither of which were offered. Terrible haircut. I didnt like the shape or cut and I asked the barber to cut it shorter to fix taper and round off my flattop but he said no. $20 for a bad cut that won't bring me back there. And a little rough with the trimmer. Felt like he was in a race to finish. No wait time. Probably why I have to fix the haircut myself with my own trimmer. Worst haircut I have ever had. I don't like having my haircut here since they once made it look like a 1980s school boy hair style. I do love going here for a shave. They usually put a hot towel on your face to open up the pore. Generally, getting my boyfriend to get his hair cut is like trying to pull teeth. He doesn't like making appointments, waiting around, or paying a lot of money for something he's going to be disappointed with, and this is his normal experience with barber shops. Found this place based on the reviews around my area and have to say this place did not disappoint! My barber knew exactly what I wanted and even checked with me on length as he cut. These guys don't rush you in and out. They still have you done in 20 min, but they take the proper time on your hair and it shows. Been to plenty of places in the city that might give you a good haircut 3 out of 4 times, but then one time makes the other 3 not worth it. I've been going to this place since they opened right by where I work, and have had an excellent cut every time. And the price is fantastic. I would pay more for the guy I use here. I am always particular about the places I get my cut. When I moved offices downtown, I tried a few places before finding this gem. Both Nat and Isaac give good cuts, but Nat is my guy. The wait is usually short, the conversation is topical, the fridge always has beers and the cut is always tight. The entire experience is relaxing and the guys couldn't be friendlier. The three gentleman, all friends, started the Financial Districts best barbershop. Amazing atmosphere. Wait with sports on TV, newspapers or magazines to read at your leisure, or enjoy a cold beer from the fridge and great conversation. The waits not long either. First Yelp review but felt compelled to detail my experience early this week. I understand that in going to a barbershop with $20 haircuts you do not expect the world. I have very simple expectations when it comes to a cheap/quick haircut: please just do what I ask. I arrived at Expo and asked for two simple items: do not cut my hair too short (requested a 5 guard on the razor) and please shape, but do not reduce the length of my beard. The barber not only used a 3 guard, only notifying me after he had already cut a portion of my hair, but he also drastically shortened my beard against my wishes. He commented my hair was "very long" when in fact it had only been 4 weeks since my last haircut and that it was "perfect" when he had completed his butcher job. 5 out of the first 5 people I saw at work that day commented on my hair. These are co-workers, not necessarily people who openly opine on one's appearance. That is how hideous of a hair cut I received. It is lopsided and cut in such a way it is impossible to style on top of being blatantly opposite of what I requested. I have considered buzzing my hair which I have not done in over 25 years (since I was about 8 years old). Please be careful here. If you see something going awry, speak up early. Also- the shop is not very clean. I did not see any barbicide/disinfectant for the scissors, there was hair filling the drawers and covering the surfaces even first thing in the morning, and there was no evidence the blade guards on the razors were cleaned recently. To be fair, this was my third time here and the first time receiving a cut from this particular individual (I do not want to name names in a public forum). However, this could honestly be the worst haircut I've ever received and I will never return to this shop. Tip to the owner(s): please follow your customers directions. You do not have "creative license" to do whatever you please with a customer's hair, regardless if you think it is "long". read more

As far as the low-end men's barbershops go, this place stands just a hair (no pun intended) above the rest. It's $20 without tip for a regular men's cut, and the gentleman does pay great attention to detail and attempts to provide valuable hair insights. I thought the cut was acceptable, and since I recently moved to the neighborhood and have tried a few barbershops already, this will likely be my venue of choice for those crucial hair visits every 3-4 weeks. read more
