my cleaning lady plugged the vacuum cleaner into the bathroom outlet. I had an oil filled electric heater plugged into the same circuit in the other room we never thought about it being on the same circuit. Of course it overloaded and blew. I called Express Electrical Services. They sent a tech on Monday morning Jesse he was knowledgable but i think I was way over priced he took 15 mins to fix it never had to turn off the main house power of corse he tried to upsell. I am a semi retired hospice nurse I spend more time with my patients than he did with his client. It does seem to be on the high end; however the estimate/contract price your technician gives you is inclusive of all parts and labor. I had called to have a ceiling fan rewired to a new wall switch as the original wiring was not working properly. My electrician, Wallace, was exceedingly polite and professional. You're giving an opportunity to cancel the appointment if you changed your mind. Alex S., the A/C Technician, was friendly and polite. More important, he quickly figure out what was wrong with the A/C unit and fixed it. BE CAUTIOUS: JR from Express Electrical Services came to my home because the GFI plug was not working. JR stated the plug was burned out and needed to be replaced at approx. $500. While at the home, JR advised I needed to refurbish the sub and main electrical panel. He stated that the copper connections of both panels were not maintained with oil at the connections; therefore, both needed to be rebuilt for approx. $5800. Things did not sit well with me with several things JR had said and I paid the service fee. After having another licensed electrician come to the home the GFI plug was just tripped and did not need to be replaced. This electrician and others consulted could not explain what JR spoke about regarding the panels. I told their manager Hope, I am not interested in them returning to my home for any work and I will just say Express Electrical has unknown proprietary electrical processes that I do not want to participate in. read more

Very disappointed in the person - Bernie Mejia who came to my home in Carson to extend a box from an adjacent cabinet for my new oven. Obviously only wanted to take my $49.99 service fee for the quote to provide the outrageous quotes he gave. To move the line only required a new box, extended whip of 7 ft, cut of cabinet to channel the whip to the new box. He quoted me $950 and $750 to do the minor work. I don't appreciate companies trying to rip me off. Received call shortly after this posting from the office manager Ms Smith. She was very nice to return the service fee. Talked to several electricians in the area and got approximate numbers for replacing a panel but these guys were the only people who could get out to the job quickly. I should have read the Yelp reports before moving ahead and saved myself the $50 for the visit. They will not give you an estimate over the phone but it's such a standard job that there shouldn't be a lot of price variation so I went ahead and made the appointment. For a simple panel replacement they wanted $8,300 which is more than double any other quote. For a house this size I can nearly get a complete rewire for that kind of money. After I wrote this review two months ago they just replied to me and talking about their best service and uptodated with a lot of training that's just an excuse , what i existences with this company was not Energency matter to them at all I called them at night for My smoke alarm issue as emergency they showed up in my apartment day after at 5:00 pm and guy he came in for diagnosis lied all about electrical issue and service which starts minimum $1500 to fix it and then brought the price to $1000 and then when I asked him just remove smoke detector for now and I will deal with that issue later was trying to drop the price to $800 and I told him you know what I am not there to discuss any more price with them and please just remove it for me and by just removing detector he charged me $150 and the day after I bought three new smoke detector for Home Depot and asked an electrician to install all three for me but not just one for $100 and there was no electrical issue at all just that specific smoke detector was old and needed to be replaced That company and people they are working are not trustful at all read more

I called a week ago schedule an appointment, they called me everyday till the day of the appointment to confirm and ask the same questions over and over for me to give the same details over and over. The day of comes around they call to confirm once again I confirm for them to call back right after our confirm call DAY OF APPOINTMENT 30 mins away to say we can't do this job because it's not on their scope of work. You guys, I confirmed twice a day for 7 days straight they called me everyday to confirm. None of my details about the job changed nor was left out for them to call confirm then call right after to cancel saying they don't go on roofs to connect power to a sign. This place is the biggest joke and the employees there are even more of a joke. I swear I talked to everyone that worked there from how many times they called me to confirm. I will never use or encourage anyone else to use this company. I spoke to the manager and she was even more unhelpful than Bianca or Claudia. just terrible. Called Express Electrical Service to come out and address a hard wired smoke detector that continued to beep after I tried replacing the battery and tripping the circuit. They get one star for quick service - I called yesterday and they were out today in the time frame they said they'd be here. The tech was nice enough but I became dubious when he started asking a lot of questions about what work had been done in the past, and then especially so when he wanted to check out the hot water heater. I realized then I was in for some sort of sales pitch. He said it was because he wanted to do a full inspection even though I really just wanted to get a recommended scope and estimate to fix the one smoke detector. He spent a long time out at the truck writing up the recommendation but when he sat down to go over it with me, he started to tell me about how much experience he has, where he got his training, etc. After asking him to speed it along so I could get my daughter before her school closed, he said he could come back when I had time. I asked instead if he could just give me a quote on the detector at which point he immediately began to try and sell me on a bunch of stuff that had nothing to do with the smoke detector. Security camera system, video doorbell system connected to a smart phone, upgrading my panel, etc. So when I pressed him to just tell me what it would take to address the smoke detector he said it was going to be $1950 and that code requires a master detector. He wouldn't give me a written estimate unless I hired him to do the work. I said thanks but no and $49.95 later for the "service fee" he left. I immediately reached out to a colleague who has a contractor license and he assured me that master detectors are only required by code for new construction and major rehab; he also said it is illegal for contractors to solicit extra work from consumers. I honestly think the service tech was just a good guy trying to earn his keep but that he works for a company that promotes taking advantage of customers. My experience with this Co was bad. Husband called to get an estimate and find out why our back yard had no power. The guy arrived clean and prompt. Stayed 15 minutes and tried to get me to buy a new panel/box, wiring, and grounding for $6,700. When i told him no, he tried to sell me less work for 2,400. No again. I just need this immediate issue fixed. He said it would cost $952. When i asked what the problem was, he said he didnt know but would fix it for the $952. I dont know how he could possibly give an estimate when he doesn't know the problem. I paid him $50 just to leave my property. What a scam! DON'T HIRE THIS COMPANY! Ha! My rental home lost power in the bathrooms. I was unable to get an electrician to address the issue until I spoke with Express Electric. I explained that I thought the problem was related to a failed GFCI, but had been unable to find a GFCI at all. Express quoted verbally a very high price ($2,700), but when I asked, explained that they would lower the price if the issue was very minor. I was on the road and explained that I was unable to access their quote but I did authorize to work so the tenants could get power back. The service person ended up installing 4 new GFCI units at over $100 each, added a new rear porch light which was beyond the scope of work, and found and replaced the defective GFCI which was behind items stacked in the garage (surprise). He also claimed he found and replaced a bad wire in the attic. The tech was at the house for about five hours and tried to bill me $2700 for the bad GFCI. The price was negotiated a few hundred dollars less, but the service was dishonest. read more

I asked for a quote over the phone for a hanging lighting fixture to be installed and they said they couldn't do it over the phone and that the electrician would have to come out to assess for $49.95, which will be waived if services are done. Shawna was the manager I spoke with over the phone. She was gracious enough to follow up on a hiccup that occurred. I should have looked at the Yelp reviews before calling this company. My experience seems to be very similar to everyone else.... Recently had Express Electrical come to my home to try and diagnose a very odd electrical issue I was having. After 20 minutes of the tech looking through my main and sub panels he came back and told me I had a voltage drop but he didn't know where, but he had 3 options. The first option was a $11,000 overhaul of my entire main panel. The second was a $6,000 repair and the third was a $4,000 repair. How can he have given me repair estimates without even knowing the problem? I explained to the tech if the repair was going to be that much I would have to go through my home warranty. He then tried to convince me that I should just authorize him to do the repairs and the home warranty would reimburse me. I told him that is not the way home warranty companies work. But then he had a fourth option, he could give me temporary power for $1,100. How could he give me temporary power if he still didn't know what the problem was? I paid the $50.00 for the service call and thanked him for his time. The next day I called the people who installed my solar and they sent someone out to see what was happening. Come to find out it was a corroded main breaker that was $350.00. I cant believe the way this company tried to rip me off. I live in a nice house and the tech thought he saw an easy mark. Yes, Express is more expensive than other Electricians, but they are professional and treat their employees well ,i.e., health benefits, competitive salaries, and continuous education for their employees. First of all, I'd like to say the Electrician that came out Robert Duran was very knowledgeable and very courteous. He fixed the problem with the circuit panel fast and gave some advise on other potential issues. But I feel like we were ripped off by the Company. Now our issue left us with no power in the house and it was getting late. The next day we called other companies and they quoted me much less (at some almost half) what we were charged. He we here for about two hours found the problem, fixed it along with replacing a few other sockets. PLEASE READ THE COMMENTS BEFORE HAVING THESE CROOKS IN YOUR HOME!!! A couple days ago I was replacing some older outlets and dimmer switches in my home. To make a long story short, I didn't connect something properly and that caused me to lose power in a couple rooms in my condo. I tried troubleshooting, checked the breaker box, but nothing. He then tells me that I may a loose connection and to further investigate that it would cost at least $1500 on top of the 50 it costed just to send someone out. 1500 dollars just to investigate the issue not even to fix the problem. At that moment Mike knew he ****** up . The next day I called up a family friend who able to find the problem and diagnose it within 10 mins. I called to schedule an electrician to come fix a broken light sensor switch (20minute process). After being rescheduled multiple times and having to go 3 days without lights in our office they finally came. When the electrician arrived he took forever to access the situation and than he proceeded to go out in his car for 15minutes and write up 5-6 options to choose from. He did not even think to just ask me what I would prefer and give me an rough estimate to see if I was happy with it. The price was way too high but I had already agreed to the $50 service call charge so I was halfway there and didn't want to go through this again with another company. Total ended up being $250 to change a switch. After I was able to find 2 other companies that quoted $150 including the cost of the switch. Do not use them.
