The Chicken Plate was literally a dream come true tonight. If you can typically put away a decent amount of food but you're looking for something light; want satiating but not greasy, then this is your meal. You get your choice of hummus (starter). I chose the spicy cilantro and 'WOW' ...so good. Ok, I'm downplaying that. Legit the best hummus I've had. You will end up scooping some with each bite of perfectly seasoned chicken, amazing rice and salad. Then when you want to shake things up a bit you can dip the half slice of pita you will get. The owner has been there last two times I've dropped in and he has always been friendly, helpful and adamant about feeding us an amazing meal. Kudos!! I just texted family suggesting they enjoy their dinner there tonight also. read more

I would consider myself a regular, it's nice to be recognized and have the owner remember me and my usual order. Great food, generous portions, reasonable prices, a clean and well kept dining area and a large dog friendly patio all add up to a great meal in a pleasant environment. A huge plus is that the patio is on the shady side of the building, so it's great for dinner except on the hottest days of summer. Enjoy! read more

Asked if the Greek fries were spicy was told they were not. They are spicy. Rice is a plain white rice that could be made at home. Only 1 pita bread in tray. Store bought kind. Side salad is in combination meal is super small & dressing has bad taste. Shredded lettuce the kind you use for tacos not a salad. Gyro meat was sauce on it with looks like pepper. Hummus was the only thing in the tray that was okay to eat. Overpriced. Won't be returning. The star is only for the friendly/fast customer service. Zero stars for the food. read more

Great fast service. Clean place. Food is not authentic at all. First time here trying express gyro, ordered beef lamp plate which comes with plain steamed rice with a tiny bit of salad. no onion, no feta and no olives. So the only Mediterranean was the meat? Hummus? You mean, "Hum-Yes!" This is my second visit. Great food. The owner and staff are really nice and will tell you everything about their food. I'd heard about hummus before and I think I'd even tried it once... but garlic hummus? I decided to try it. Now I love hummus. I tried making it at home, but it's not as good as theirs. So... great people, great food... and the prices are fine, but I don't care about prices when it comes to quality food. I am excited to write this review about EXPRESS GRYO In Lincoln. We had their new Mediterranean Nachos and I had to pinch myself. I thought I was dreaming. It was a beautiful dish. But the flavors--stop the freaking bus!!! INCREDIBLE !! The Pita chips melted in my mouth because they were so fresh. The sauce was spicy and zesty with a surprising hint of something sweet. Somehow, the chefs have mastered balancing the flavors so well that each flavor compliments the other. Every bite was an experience unto itself. My tastebuds danced in celebration of the flavor party taking place. The meat was seasoned just enough to make it standout. It was moist, tender, and well portioned. The tomatoes and onions were not chunky or in the way--they seemed to be just the right size and firmness. The olives made me angry because they were super fresh and I can't get that at home LOL. Great place for a quick lunch if you're craving Greek food! We stopped in with family that was in town for the day after spending a few hours in Lincoln. It was pretty quiet in there, so they offered to answer any questions and took our order right away. We ordered everything from wraps to gyros to salads, and even the Greek fries. Everything was delicious, was made quickly, and served correctly. It was "subway style" where everything was laid out and dished up based on the Oder. Their chicken was yummy and I loved all the different goodies that came on the salad. The Greek fries were yummy- we shared them at the table. Generous portions for each thing we ordered as well! The guys working were very friendly, helpful, and polite which is something I always appreciate. I'd definitely come back again if in the area! read more

Recently took food to go from here. A gyro for my son and a chicken plate for myself. My son didn't care for the gyro (said the meat didn't taste fresh- tasted reheated) My chicken plate was virtually tasteless. The chicken (that I thought was going to be grilled) had a strange texture/color and not much flavor. That goes for the rice as well. Hummus was also pretty bland and the pita bread I received was stale and cold. Unfortunately probably won't be back. read more

Tried Greek food for the first time and I was actually amazed at how much flavor their meats had! I had the beef and lamb plate and my husband had the chicken plate. I wasn't a fan of the hummus, but everything else was great. Customer service was amazing, the guy (assuming he might've been the owner) checked up on us during our meal because we told him it was our first time having greek food. We have a new restaurant option in Lincoln, Express Gyro. Their focus is on Greek and Mediterranean food. Finally, something a little different from the standard fare - burgers, Chinese, sushi, Mexican, etc. I tried it this afternoon and was pleased by the clean & casual atmosphere, friendly staff, quick turnaround on my order, and ........ most importantly, the taste & quality of my food. Their menu consists of a wide assortment of gyros, wraps and plates, salads and desserts. I had already had a light lunch at home, so I limited my order to a beef and lamb gyro. The meat was tender and flavorful. It was accompanied by fresh pita, lettuce, tomato and onion. The tzatziki (cucumber sauce) was yummy. Prices were most reasonable and I will return. read more

All I can say is WOW! I ordered the falafel platter. I already ate two before I remembered to take a pic. It was so yummy. Crispy on the outside just right on the inside. Not overly seasoned. I had a good portion of salad on the plate also. The original hummus was one of the best I've ever had and I'm not even vegan. I went back the next day and took my wife. She said it was the best falafel she's ever had and we also tried the cilantro hummus and it was very delicious. They have options for the growing vegetarian/vegan community. And the prices were so reasonable. Well be back soon. read more

So excited this is finally opened! Happy this awesome place is calling our little town home! The family had beef and lamb gyros and shawarmas. Gyros come with your choice of hummus stead on your pita. Then we saw the loaded Greek fries, covered with feta and tzatziki, and ordered two. The kids polished it off. Kids meal was a good sized portion of meat and rice. Had a complete meal with baklava and Saffron ice cream. Don't be intimidated, it was excellent and the perfect size for sharing. We'll definitely be regulars. read more

If I feel a cold coming on this soup is one of my favorite remedies. I first called the Roseville location. The gal who answered was very sweet, but she couldn't answer catering questions and let me know she'd need to check with the kitchen. Rather than play phone tag, I decided to swing by in person (the following day) to see if I could make a stronger connection. The gal working was just as kind face-to-face as the first girl I spoke with on the phone, she also did her best to answer what she could, and ultimately recommended I get in touch with Kat, who handles catering. When I finally connected with Kat, I felt more at ease about going with this restaurant. She was absolutely fantastic and should probably have a PhD in reassurance. She patiently walked me through the options, answered everything with confidence, and made me feel completely comfortable placing a fairly sizable catering order over the phone for pickup at the Rocklin location. Five stars for Kat. She is exactly the kind of person you hope to work with when planning an event. On pickup day, I arrived about 15-20 minutes early. Some restaurants build in a little buffer and have orders sitting around before the promised pickup time, but not these folks. My order was ready exactly when they said it would be, and honestly, I prefer that. It meant everything was as fresh as possible rather than sitting under a warmer waiting for me. We chose the #2 catering package. Of the options we chose: a large Greek salad, two skewers of meat per person, pita bread, dip, lemon potatoes, and pilaf rice. The presentation was beautiful, everything was thoughtfully packaged, and, the food was very good. If you're deciding between the proteins, I'd give a slight edge to the steak skewers. They stayed tender, while the chicken, was a bit drier by comparison. If you're looking for catering that's both visually impressive and well received, The Great Greek delivers on both fronts. Whether you're feeding family, coworkers, or guests at a special event, this is the kind of spread that earns compliments before people even take their first bite. Four and a half shining stars!
