Overall, this female-only workout spot is a great place to be a woman! No matter your age or progress in life, there is support and healing (both physical and emotional) to be found at this wonderful place. Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable in a wide background of fitness styles, nutrition advice, body image, etc. There is a strong community among the regulars, much support and not snobbish or clique style. Instead open and friendly to the newbies. I have seen women of all ages (18-60) and sizes attend these classes and they all have one thing in common: they come to find themselves. Some are seeking a new body image, others re-discovering confidence and still others to learn the sensual aspect of their feminine nature. What better way to gain confidence and make friends with your body than to learn the age old art of seduction? Brilliant concept that works very well. I do recommend trying out as many different classes as possible, not only to get a feel for the different teaching of the instructors but also the difference between the more cardio classes vs. sculpting classes. The cardio dance classes, while able to increase difficulty, are more level 1- perfect for the newbie or entering back into exercising. They make it fun to pick up the habit of exercising again by their wide and varied styles, rotating class offerings. The sculpting classes are more intense, level 2 and 3, more focused on really getting those muscles to burn. ATTENTION!: My only caution would be that already having experience attending dance/cardio classes or gym would be advised as proper form, technique and safety is not always mentioned (the classes are too short at 45 min. to cover that each time). Also the classes are mostly in the evening, so if you were looking for early morning or pop-in-during-lunch type club, this is not it. Normally an early morning exercise type person, I surprisingly found the evening classes to be a fantastic way to unwind from the day, the often sultry nature of the dances blending well with cover of the night. I also agree that it would be wise to supplement with a gym membership of sorts. While there are constant specials and the occasional groupon coupon, the classes are a bit pricey in comparison to other traditional fitness centers. But what you are paying for is the ambiance, the community and unique classes. For some, that experience is priceless. :) p.s It's located on the backside of Trader Joe's shopping complex, follow the road around the back of the shops past the cardboard boxes and trash cans to discover this gem's hidden entrance. read more

I love the concept of this place but it just isn't worth the price of a membership. It's $50 a month for 10 classes a month...for that same price you could get a membership to Lifetime and have unlimited fitness classes with access to the pool and the equipment. While I love the ideas for the classes, it's not a very good work out either. You will barely break a sweat. If you go here I would only sign up for their workshops or their pole-ah-tease courses. The dance fitness classes are a waste of money. read more

There were 9 of us including the instructor, Jasmine, who was perfectly beautiful, talented, fun, funny, energetic, and encouraging. My best friend's bachelorette party was a blast, and largely due to our awesome experience at Express Mie! Our teacher (Tina) was so nice and welcoming when we came through the door, and really made our experience feel personalized. We purchased the party with a Groupon, and you can't always expect top notch customer service as a Groupon customer, so I was so pleased with Tina! When we arrived, the bride decided to do a 50/50 pole/lap class. We had a great time. Girls in the group with no dance background and girls who tend to be more shy about dancing (like myself) were still engaged and had fun doing all their new moves. I think the class was a big highlight of the whole party, and most of our party wants to keep taking pole classes in the future now. One of the best parts was at the end when Tina offered to take pictures for us. I expected 1-2 pictures, but she took 50 pictures (not exaggerating - literally 50 unique photos across the studio in all different poses of the whole group). Enjoyed the classes, but the administration change was poor. I had broken some bones in my feet and needed to no longer participate. During this time a change in ownership happened and they "wrote-off" my balance. I"m out of the balance of my classes. Very disappointing....I guess the moral of the story is, don't get sick or injured during the class series, even if they tell you that they will credit your account. read more

I am obsessed with Express MiE. OBSESSED. I live right down the street and never knew it existed. It's a little hard to find if you've never been there, but so worth it when you do. I found deal on Living Social for an intro pole dancing class and thought why not? It might be fun. It was tons of fun, I met some awesome girls, and am now in their Level 3 pole class as well as taking several of the other dance and fitness classes on the side. First of all, the staff is phenomenal. Their customer service is great, and they are more of a friend than an instructor. They are very laid back and make it SO easy to sign up for classes and are always willing to chat and answer questions. They also respond to emails very quickly, so feel free to e-mail them with any questions. Secondly, the classes are FUN. They are unique twists on things like ballet, zumba, and yoga, mixed in with some cardio dance and fitness classes focusing on specific body parts. And of course, the pole dancing. It's super sexy but in a VERY classy way. we all have a great time each week! Lastly, there is just a great feeling every time i walk in there. I can't help but smile and meet new people. Everyone (staff included!) is happy to be there. It's a very relaxing, non-judgmental environment which you really can't find at all dance studios. They have great deals for new customers too! really enjoyed how structured the class was and had confidence that if I sign up for a series of classes I would feel just as confident in each class. I was not a fan of the meditation portion, I felt like it took up so much time, not sure if that's done in all the classes. Also, I wish there were a few more poles, I've been to another studio that had one pole per person and we were able to learn more and practice more. I would like to sign up for the first series of classes but since it's in the middle I have to wait several weeks. Express Mie has gotten me through the most challenging year of my life and will continue to be the highlight of my week. I can not begin to describe how express mie has changed so much about me for the good. I'm not talking about the outside, which has improved, but I'm talking about heart and soul. Express Mie has given me the highest self esteem I have ever had in my life. I have never felt more beautiful or confident than I do now because of Express Mie. The instructors are the coolest people I have ever met. They make you feel so comfortable. They are so nice and have great senses of humor. I can't decide if the instructors or the actual classes are my favorite part!!! I took the dance fitness classes before I started taking pole and they were very amazing! I didn't even notice that I was getting a good workout because they were so much fun! But, I have to say that the best part about Express Mie is the pole classes. I used to think "Woah. . . pole? Isn't that a little. . . crazy?" Boy was I wrong! Yes, us girls get a little crazy in class, but the actual class is so amazing. You learn dance moves that are beautiful, challenging, and fun. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I started out with the Groupon one month unlimited toujour and had so much fun. I usually did 2 classes at a time and sweat my booty off while having fun. I do have a dance background and also have been practicing yoga for years. The classes are fun, while also providing a great workout. The Dance Sculpt class with Josefa works your body like nothing else, and she pushes you with encouragement. Hannah's Yoga Booty Ballet classes are fun and hilarious - I haven't done most of those moves since the wedding receptions in the '90s! LOL Erin's Oh Tummy Tucker Core workout is phenominal, as well as Leann's Bootilicious. I've also tried the Intro to Pole-Ah-Tease class and it is so fun and sexy! All of the instructors and staff are friendly and fun, always interested in learning more about the students. Everyone should try these workouts. Way better than a gym. XOXO read more

ExpressMiE is fun. I probably have never said that about a recurring gym experience... ever. Going to ExpressMiE is an enjoyable experience where I focus on my body and how it moves, I enjoy the music, I stretch my muscles, and I relax into the now. I highly recommend the yoga, pilates and stretching classes like sultryoga, burn by candlelight and pole-ah-tease sexy core workout for workouts that use and stretch every muscle. For burning calories I recommend the dance sculpt and bodacious ballerina classes; these make the sweat drip and work all of the muscles, including little ones you usually don't hit with the standard squats and lunges. I haven't tried cardio dance party, but I see the women that leave the class and they look worked!! Finally, for fun, I love the Bollywood dance class, this class has lots of fun moves. Sometimes it's more dancing and not a super difficult workout - other times Erin (the instructor) works in a lot of squats. On those days it burns and I think to myself that squats have never been so fun. Last, but certainly not least, I am enjoying the level 1 pole-ah-tease class. So far I wouldn't call it a total workout but i will say it's an awesome class to get your brain to connect with your body and to learn to be in the moment. read more

I took a lap dance workshop here after being in the great lingerie shop ( love and lace) that is attached to express mie. I heard clapping and cheering and women of all ages/ shapes/ sizes. The workshop was fantastic and not scary at all. I had major anxiety before the class started. I never in a million years would have considered taking a class and now I can't wait to go back.
