I did not plan on replacing my shocks and struts, but the manager strongly pushed me into doing it while my car was there. I trusted their recommendation, which turned out to be a mistake. My vehicle ended up being kept at the shop for three days because they stripped a bolt during the repair and had to order a replacement part. After multiple attempts to pick my car up, I show up to the store and wait in the lobby for 10 minutes before I walk out to the back and ask if someone can help me. Meanwhile, there's 4 guys sitting around doing nothing. The manger finally comes out and informs me my power steering was messed up, something that had never been an issue before bringing it in. The manager stated he did not have the tools to fix the power steering. Because my car was not safe to drive, I had to have it towed to another mechanic to figure out what was going on. I am now being told that my power steering system needs to be replaced, only 3 shocks were installed and the CV axle has been punctured! Which is a major and extremely expensive repair that started immediately after the work performed at NTB. All of these screw ups just for some tires! To make matters worse, when I tried to escalate the issue, the manager refused to provide me with the contact information for corporate. Being left without a vehicle for days, paying for a tow, and now facing a major repair after work performed at this shop is completely unacceptable. I hope someone from NTB corporate sees this review and reaches out, because this situation needs to be addressed and they need to pay for the damages they have caused.

It's a 2020 Tesla and I have the pucks for the jack. If they don't have anyone trained, they need to stop advertising tire rotation. Or if they're too lazy to do it just take it off the menu. Three men standing there doing nothing when you could be looking at a manual or looking at YouTube learning to put a Tesla puck into a hole. It takes about 8 seconds to learn unless you have common sense and then you just know how put a peg into a hole. We all did it in elementary school... If you have a car shop that doesn't specialize in one make ...you should know something about every potential car that could come in. Ever put a bottle into a baby's mouth at feeding time? Same simple principle...little nipple goes into little opening. These guys are Just plain too lazy to care.

Watch out the service manager really run up a repair. The owner was unsympathetic and acted like he had better things to do than listen to my concerns. I needed my truck fixed. Their initial quote was higher than another by $140. They have a great looking building on the outside and I assumed I was paying for top notch work. They assured the truck's return later that afternoon, knowing I needed the vehicle for work. They called back and suggested a radiator on top of the requested water pump. They said it would be cheaper to do both. My radiator was working fine, but it was older and I should replace it now. Next, they acted like it was a real challenge for them to fix my vehicle. They had a hard time locating a GM radiator and then kept it through the weekend and again all day Monday. They literally charged me 3 times what it would be from a wholesaler. For a common Chevy radiator, they acted like they did me a favor finding one for $500. I went to them looking for my new repair shop. I feel like they took advantage of me being in a hurry to get it fixed and they lost a potential solid customer. Oddly, they told me my temperature gauge was broken when I went to pick it up. I had already told them to allow the motor to warm up properly. Apparently they didn't bother, the gauge works just fine, but they wouldn't put the time in to really check. Next they accused me of trying to get the gauge fixed for free by lying that it worked when I brought it in. I was flabbergasted, I had to pay a premium price for their late repair, then I got called a liar because they wouldn't even bother warm up the motor on a new radiator installation. I bet they are good mechanics, when they want to be, but they mishandled my repair, wasted my time, and then demanded top dollar after admitting they had no idea how to get my gauge working. They repeatedly told me the diagnostic machine didn't give them an answer so they couldn't fix it. The owner basically called me a liar when actually they were not very thorough with their assessment. Who tells a client you broke his gauge, can't fix it, call him dishonest and then still be wrong about the gauge even being broke? They have lousy people skills and I can only assume they are lazy mechanics. They still have no idea that my temperature gauge works and they just let me leave upset. They offered me no compromise of any kind.

At Auto & Truck Services, aside from a very qualified crew, you'll find the definition of character wrapped up with dependability, honesty and impeccable integrity. The heart and soul of the crew is husband and wife team, Norman & Grace, who have served the town of Birmingham for decades. So, when you see that those rates might be a little higher, understand you get what you pay for. When mistakes are made causing you to have to return, know that they stand behind their work. Lastly, there are endless variations of vehicles, makes, and models. Computer systems and software change with the seasons on the heels of the endless government regulations for emissions, amongst other things. ~Have some grace! I brought my 2005 Mercedes here for an oil change based upon a friend's recommendation. They did a…read morefine job, so a few months later when the coolant light was on and the car was in limp mode, I didn't hesitate to call Mike and Mikes to do the job. I got the car towed 30 min from homewood just to use them. I also had purchased brake pads and rotors for the car and placed them in the trunk for them to put on. They originally quoted me an outrageous price to put the brakes on. When I explained that I was providing the parts, and I would just take it elsewhere, they went down (a little). I was mainly focused on diagnosing the reason why the vehicle was in limp mode and finding the coolant leak (I had been topping off the coolant for months). They called me and said the diagnostic was a thermostat housing, and also said I purchased the wrong size front brake pads, and I will have to pay them for the parts for the correct pads. Fine. I did. They said they would return my pads that were the wrong size and place them in the trunk (they didn't give them back and they aren't in the trunk). They then told me the car was in limp mode because there is an alternator problem. We called the shop that had just repaired the alternator a year ago (it was still in the warranty timeframe) together, and decided on a plan that the other shop would come and pick up the alternator and repair it and deliver it back. I received a call after the brakes and thermostat housing was replaced saying they had no room for my car, and that I would have to drive it myself or pay for a tow to the alternator shop. This is wild after I had just paid them $1000 for a thermostat housing and brake and rotor replacement. The alternator shop was in disbelief that Mike and Mike's asked me to do this, and told me specifically not to drive it over 40mph, do not use any electronics (no radio or headlights, no a/c) and keep it slow and steady. This was a long drive at 6am from Pelham to downtown Birmingham on Highway 31 in the RAIN. Once at the alternator shop, they checked the car, and laughed, "that's an old code from when the alternator was originally repaired, your car is fine". It's been month since I've gotten my vehicle back. The coolant reservoir is completely empty and the leak wasn't repaired like I was told. I am SUPER Disappointed with the quality of work (or lack there of). They seem to try to nickel and dime me a lot, and I am not down for that. For a woman, I have a pretty good basic knowledge of vehicles. I have only driven the car 4 times since I got it back. I will be taking my dollars elsewhere.

I want to start this off by saying they have been great folks to work with over the years. I spent…read morea lot of money and worked with them almost exclusviely with both of my families cars. But my last exerience was one that I cannot help but be infuratied by. I had an issue where my 2012 Highlander AC went out in July and it was $2700.00 to fix. So I agreed and they did the work. When I took the car in the heater worked fine and prior to the AC going out the temperature control worked without any issues. They "fixed" the AC and it blew ice cold which was great for July. I noticed immediately that you couldn't regulate the temperature at all but life was busy and in hindsight I should have turned right around and took it back in. Fast forward two months when I had a blowout, I took it back in and alerted them to the issue's (no temp control and heater is out). They mulled it over and said it was a completely different issue and wanted another $2700. If they had test run the system after "fixing" the AC, they would have noticed something was off. Or maybe they did and just pushed it out anyways? They claim to warrenty their work but that didn't hold up here either. No attempt whatsoever to meet me in the middle. Nothing except a "sorry, completely different issue so another $2700.00". Not a good look Rob'e Man's.

Just bought a 2017 vw tiguan and needed an inspection to see what i needed done for the car. The…read moreonly thing pressing was a serpentine belt. Several days later my car wouldn't start and my engine light came on. It turned out to be a key fob battery. When i fi ll up on gas in an area that was potentislly unsafe i had gased up leaving my car running apparently this is whst caused my engine light to come on not to mention a fire hazard. Apparently, static electricity can cause and explosion. In my defense, i am an 80 year old widow living on a pension. In the 40's and 50's not only were there no cell phones, there were no computers. You can see how vulnerable i am. Nic and Brody have listened patiently and provided all the info i needed. Infact i was given a list of all repairs that were needed and the corresponding price. These were divided into those i needed right now, those that coul wait a momth,, and those that could wait longer. They both approached me with respect and kindness which has prompted this review. This is background so you will understand my impression of this busiiness. First of all they were.johnny on the spot. I arrived and they promptly got my Tiguan(my baby) back after Nic and i discussed that she Was a used car and i love her and wanted to take care of her. I had just driven her from the car lot. I wanted to check her out from bumper to bumper. Not only did their mechanics check her out, they provided me wuth a listed in order of priority and cost of each. I was prepared to leave when Nic said to me that the serpentine belt was about to break. I thought Nic was going not going to let me leave wi th it in the condition it was in Nic sent one of his workers t7o go get the belt and put it on. Took an hour including picking up the belt. I got the feeling he was trying to inform me without scaring me. What did i know about serpentine belts.Not a thing! Everyone i encountered behaved that way. I have not felt that way since my husband passed. It was quite touching. Now i learned a new woŕd KeyFob. It has a CR 2032 battery. If the battery is dead so is your car. Lesson # 2. Now being 80 at night when i needed gas if i felt frightened, i would lea e the car running while i gassed up. Did you know that would cause the engine light to come on. Lesson #3. Or that you should never have the car running while gasing up because like static Lesson #4 electricity could cause the car to catch on fire or worse.

Today was the third time that they have taken care of my car in the past three years, and the service was incredible! I had planned to wait at a coffee shop nearby, and they offered to drive me there so that I could wait comfortably for my car service to be done. When it was over, they called me and sent someone to pick me up, every person who I have interacted with at Franklin automotive is not only kind but also very good at their job. So grateful for this auto repair shop!
