I've been here 3 times and have only had 1 experience go as advertised / expected. The first trip went well, in and out in about 15 mins. The second trip, the pit guy didn't wipe the oil off the top of my skid plate after changing the filter, so when I look behind me after driving off, it looks like my truck is steadily leaking oil. So, I turned around and came back. The manager came out and had me pull off to the side. We rolled under there and determined that was the problem. He wiped the rest out then I was off again. I chalked it up to a simple mistake.
This last time is why I wont be back for a while. I went at 3:20pm on a Friday afternoon. There was one car in the left bay and the other 2 were open for oil changes. I was motioned into bay 2 by a gentleman (who also gave me a new sticker) and Carley started the oil change. Then she went in the office... and Jesse hopped in there, checked the filter and wiper fluid... then he went in the office. So I'm just sitting there. This whole time, who I figure was the manager, had motioned another car in bay 1, where he spends his entire oil change procedure talking to the driver who is a tax professional. So he's picking her brain about how to get tax deductions and whatnot. "My wife is on call and uses her cell phone to yada, yada, yada, ... can we write this off?" No clue about workflow, where the employees are, etc...
Another car enters bay 3, so now all bays are full. Still noone has come back to let me know anything or to finish the oil change. So the guy that gave me sticker comes out and the manager told him to start on the car in bay three... I look at him and give him the WTF? look, which he correctly interprets. He apologizes, and goes to find whoever is supposed to be helping me. He goes in the office and later returns and says "Sorry about that, he (Jesse) went to the bathroom and didn't tell anyone." Carley comes out later and is obviously surprised that I'm still sitting there. Apparently she had to "call another customer". She and the first gentlemen finish up the oil change and safety check. As they are taking my payment, she says "holy cow, 28 minutes" (I assume they have a timer that starts once the information is entered into their system). In total, 35 minutes after I arrive I'm finally on my way.
Express Oil charges a PREMIUM for their oil changes and people pay that because it is supposed to be fast and right... as advertised. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience at this location. I'll be giving the one in Leeds a shot from now on. If the results are the same, then I'll just go back to changing my own in the driveway and pay a disposal fee. read more
