Every inch of this store tells a story. I dropped off at noon and they were ready for pickup by 4:30p - amazing. These shoes were in rough shape, but Avner gave them a second life. I really wish I took a before picture bc the after does not do it justice! Restitching of the sole, fixing and reinforcing the heal and toe, fixing the lining, stretching, and giving it the best shine he could given where they were before. He explained all that before and gave me an upfront price and I paid cash - very reasonable and I really appreciated the same day service. My cuz told me that express shoe repair in Woodside queens could repair the broken zipper on my nap sack and give my pair of dress shoes a complete ovehaul and cuz was right .They work fast as the name states and both items I dropped off are better then new and it didn't cost much .Place looks old and run down just like my old shoe repair shop in the Bronx many years ago and that's what I call a traditional shoe repair shop . ruined my $600 marc jacobs boots. i asked him if he was able to seal the pointed toe of the boot so they wouldn't open up more, or replace the leather. i told him EXPLICITLY, if u cannot fix them in a way that looks good, leave them as is. upon pickup new leather was unevenly slapped on the toes and he colored it to match the shoes with CHEAP NAIL POLISH. as well as a minor scuff is now more visible as he covered it with nail polish that didnt match the shoe. disappointed beyond words and my favorite designer shoes now look like trash. read more

My daughter's favorite winter boot had a zipper that was broken. I took them to express shoe repair before 1 pm today and returned at 2:30 and it was repaired with a new zipper. Dealing with Sam the repair man that did the work and the owner, Avner, were a pleasure. They lived up to the name of their store, EXPRESS SHOE REPAIR! I came by to have a watch battery replaced. He saw the watch and quoted me $8 and told me the watch would be ready the next day. I gave him my number and said just text me or call me whenever it is ready. I didn't hear back so I stopped by while running other errands. He said he did not have my watch he sent it out to his friend. My expectation was my watch would be on site, not sent out. After waiting more days I stop by again (still no text or call). He said oh my friend said this is a very expensive watch....$20. First off it was not a "very expensive" watch. Second even as a nicer watch it still takes the same off the shelf battery. Lastly, he quoted $8, $20 isn't slightly more it is double and then some. When I told him this was ridiculous he took less than $20 just proving his games and tactics. read more

My pair of the sandal's sole of the heel was felt off. I use this sandal a lot for my work and I had to fix this quick but in between work, I have a very minimum time and I remember this tiny shoe repair store near by my apartment. The owner was very very nice and sweet! He fixed my shoes in 20min. and cost me for just $8 and done beautifully, it worth for more then $8!!! I'd seen this storefront as I walked home from the 61st St train station for over a year, and originally thought it was a thrift store. (There is often a rather haphazard rack of used leather bags and shoes in front of the store.) I needed a zipper replaced on my synthetic Tumi backpack, and after an exhaustive search on Google and Yelp I thought I'd just walk in and ask if they offered that service. The place is packed floor to ceiling with leather repair items and what appears to be about 100 years of repaired items which were never picked up! The older man who I talked to was in the middle of a job but told me that he can replace backpack zippers no problem, and to bring it in for an estimate. (No up-front pricing.) But he did a perfect job replacing my double zipper for $35 with just 24 hour turnaround. He asked for a 50% deposit, which I thought was totally fair. My boots have seen better days, and before giving up on them, I've decided to try and have them repaired. These guys did a fantastic job! They look almost new now, and it only took about 2 days. If they managed to fix my boots, I'm sure they can fix everything. read more

Well, yelp you spoke and the owner's heard you. The cost is no longer 10 but 20 which includes a shoe shine I explicitly refused since the shoes were shined a week ago. Work quality was ok but lots of up-sell and was told rudely to come back twice. All in, I waited 1.5 hour to watch the odd couple chit chat and eat for a 10 minute job. Omg I'm telling you this man worked a miracle on my boots. The bottom completely opened up, the heel was completely gone, the leather in the front was tearing apart, but I refused to throw it away because they were just beautiful. This man literally brought it back to life I didn't think it could be done and for just $40. I wanted to just kiss him. I'll definitely be coming back here with more shoes. read more

Don't come here unless you want to get yelled at. Terrible customer service! If they want customers, it is not the way to treat customers. I stopped by just to get a quote without my shoes because I don't want to bring them over and bring them back if it would cost too much. This is NYC and many businesses are immigrant owned. I usually like to have conversations about where people are from. After a 10 min chat about Uzbekistan, he replaced the leather insole on my shoes and even cleaned them! I was expecting at least a $20 bill but he only charged me $10. Highly recommend. THEY LOST MY SHOES! DO NOT COME HERE! I dropped off my shoes after waiting on a long line (good sign, right?) and he told me he would call me when they were ready. I waited one week, then two. Finally I just went in there with my ticket. After he looked for a while he said he didn't have them and all of a sudden claimed that he called me a long time ago to pick them up. I asked, "If you called me, what's my phone number?" He said nothing. NOTHING! Then I said at least give me back the money I paid you. No response. Well I wish I had checked the reviews before I went. I dropped off two pairs of shoes in need of new soles. The first time I came to pick them up when he told me they would be ready, and he put me off for another week. A week later I show up and it's closed during its posted hours. Finally, after a phone call, on my third visit I get my shoes back. Already one pair has the sole so shoddily attached he has to touch it up with glue right in front of me. Less than two months later its peeling off and I have to go back. By this point I know the walk by heart, and I arrive to see he's already telling another customer why her shoes are a week behind schedule. He offers more lousy work for more money. I'm not about to fall for that, so now a pair of shoes that last needed repair three years ago is more damaged than ever before, and I paid for nothing.
