Excellent service, great prices, and really convenient hours. I really thought these boots were a goner, but Jack fixed the heels and made them look almost new again. Before and after pictures attached! Jack is also honest when there is nothing that can be done for something. I brought him a bag that was exposed to high heat and the inside was sticking to itself, and he told me how I could take care of it at home to try to bring it back to life. Definitely going back for all of my shoe repair needs.

I dropped off two pairs of beat-up dress shoes and Jack's Shoe Repair had them looking brand new in less than two days. I can't believe how good they look. I wish I would have taken "before" pictures. I've worn these shoes for over two years and they look like I just pulled them out of the box for the first time. All of the scuffs and scratches have been polished out, and the worn down heels were replaced. The pictures do these shoes no justice. In sum, my dress shoes look great and I'll be bringing all of my other shoes here moving forward. Thank you!

small gap between new heel and old heel needs to be filled

I have a pair of men's dress shoes which retailed at about $150 and are really comfortable. But time has taken its toll and now i had to make a decision to buy new ones or do a half sole and heel repair. The prices quoted to me from shops in Manhattan ranged from $60 to $100. That was too rich for my blood and I'd rather put it to new shoes. But then i decided to check Yelp for a place in Queens which would have less overhead and probably translate to lower prices. When I called and Jack (i assume that's his name) quoted me $32 for a leather half sole replacement with rubber heel, i jumped on it... So i stopped by Jack's last month and it's pretty large store for a one-man show. It's also kinda cluttered, but I guess that's how old man "Jack" has done it for over 20+ years in the business. I told him what i needed and he told me to come back in 3 days and it would be done.... A few weeks pass and I read Jasmine L's review about how her poor shoes were ruined. I wasn't too concerned with the shoes I brought in because they were far from new and I just fixed them for its comfort as casual dressy sh*t-kickers. But I did have a pair of mint $300+ dress shoes which required the insoles to be glued down as they were flapping around. I was concerned, but brought them in anyways for Jack to repair... On Saturday i decided to pick up my shoes. Jack had thrown them in a black nondescript plastic bag where each shoe's topside were rubbing against each other. That's certainly not good for shoes, but i really didn't care as mentioned before. I then brought out my expensive dress shoes which had shoetrees and in its own cotton shoe bag with separate compartments. I asked him to glue down the insoles and he did so on the spot. I asked him how much and he said $33 for the first pair and free of charge for the glue-down on the second pair. I was OK with that and gave him $35... As for the quality of the repairs, 1. worn $150 dress shoes: I was OK with the repair because it only cost me $32 - $33~! But I did notice a few things: a. the rubber heel has gaps at the mount point which needs to be blended in: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/wG66IkpZPTfOKvEttG037g?select=wahx-8Qar4ikB4scPciJpg b. the side of the heel needs to be smoothed out: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/wG66IkpZPTfOKvEttG037g?select=FyUE5UM_tvEObwBdx9ueOA c. bumps on the edge: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/wG66IkpZPTfOKvEttG037g?select=L3PuFY-a40oVkw2I9tEz7w 2. mint $300+ dress shoes: The repair was fine as it was easy. Here are some of my tips with Jack: 1. bring your shoes with shoetrees: let him know you value your shoes 2. bring your shoes in a shoe-bag: if you don't, they're getting thrown into a plastic bag 3. let him know to be careful Summary: Although Jack's detail might be a bit off, his prices are excellent. I'll probably go back to ask him to fix the edges on all the issues mentioned and I don't think he'll give me a problem. If he does fix the errors, I'll give him 4 stars. As for really expensive shoe repairs, I'd be a little bit worried. But you can prevent being in the situation by: 1. wearing something else for the daily grind which are nice, but not your best pair 2. add taps on the tip of the half sole and heel 3. replace taps before it's too late! 4. don't wear nice shoes to the bar or club as it's bound to get trampled on Now go reassess your shoe situation and do something about it~!

The owner is really nice and does great work! The prices are reasonable. Recommend it especially for local Astoria residents.

Great place to get your shoes fixed. The owner works on everything himself. Very nice guy. Highly recommended.

Most recently I dropped off a favorite pair of Reef sandals that has an elastic strap around the heel.

But I'm the type of person who gets really attached to things, probably because I just didn't have enough growing up, so when my shoes started to wear down, I despaired. I looked up best shoe cobblers in Queens and found this place on Yelp, so with a great deal of anxiety mustered the courage to go. And wow, am I completely blown away. Arthur was transparent from the beginning, even going so far as to tell me that the work might be more expensive than the shoes themselves (two pairs of boots and two pairs of sandals; I wore the heck out of them for three years), and that it would be okay if I needed time to think about it. That alone made me trust him. I arrived a week later and the shoes were restored to their former glory, beautifully resoled and all the stains in the leather taken out. I couldn't believe it. I will definitely come back!

Incredible quality service. In about a week and a half, the boots I have worn for the past 4 years…read morewere restored to brand new. For the repair of an Everlane pair of leather boots I purchased in 2021, it was $60 for the replacement of the heel and the replacement of the sole (it was so torn up) with a waterproof new sole. I was expecting the sole to look better but not perfect, and for the waterproof sole to look rubbery or more bulky, which I was totally okay with. Instead, the shoes came back looking STUNNING. Not only did the entire shoe look brand new (he shined and cleaned them for me, even though that was not technically included in what I paid for), but the soles were so fancy! The waterproof sole was so well done, it fit in with the look of the shoe so well, and they have been working perfectly (sturdy and in fact, waterproof). I also brought with me a pair of knee high boots that I thrifted-- the soles were entirely ripped off and the bottom of the shoes looked like an absolute mess. He replaced the soles and they looked perfect and I've been wearing them non-stop! Overall, I am really pleased with service, and the shop owner was really friendly and helpful as well. I will be back with future shoe needs.
