Fern is amazing! We adopted a doggy from Saint Louis Humane Society in January for our son. At the shelter this cute little doggy seemed very well mannered, which she really is but little did we know that she has separation anxiety. She cried and scratched up the door pretty bad when we just went downstairs to do some laundry. Well long story short.....I needed to get back home (Hawaii) but I know my son and his new best friend, Daisy, would need some help. Of course, I look on Yelp. I see only 5 star reviews for Extended Arms. So, I called and spoke to Fern for about 30 mins. I was giving her the situation that we were in and she was giving us advice. I asked her if she could come over and speak to my son and show him some of her "tricks or hints" that could help Daisy with her anxiety. She was more than willing to help us. My son was very impressed on how thorough Fern was and how much time she spent with him and Daisy. Fern is very honest and open lady. I am so glad I found Fern, she is amazing! As well, one of her associates, Carolyn, was wonderful. They watched my two kitties while I was away for a week and did a great job. Normally when I leave for the weekend I come home to shredded toilet paper, things knocked over, and just general destruction... But with the love and attention from Fern and Carolyn I came home to no destruction and two very happy kitties! Fern sent me pictures and videos of my fur babies while I was away which was awesome. As well, she was very flexible with my schedule and even coordinated a key swap with my sister instead of me due to my schedule. Fern absolutely loves dogs and has been extremely helpful to us with our 8 week old puppy. We are medical professionals with long 12-13 hour jobs and Fern has been invaluable to us during this time. She is extremely reliable and is very loving to the dogs she takes care of. She made three visits to our apartment to ensure he had ample play time and potty breaks. I've worked with Fern for over a year, and my Whippet, Lewis, could not be happier with the attention and love that he receives on a regular basis. I always have peace of mind knowing that Lewis is getting a great walk in every day when I am away at the office. Extended Arms does not stop with walking - Lewis receives extra love and attention on a regular basis. Extended Arms and Fern knows Lewis well enough to let me know when something is amiss. In fact, Lewis was recently under the weather. I knew something was wrong but could not quite pinpoint it. Fern was able to recognize that Lewis might have a bladder infection. Unable to bring Lewis to the veterinarian myself, Extended Arms literally came to the rescue and brought Lewis into the veterinarian. He did in fact have a bladder infection. Luckily, because of Fern's diligence, we were able to get Lewis on antibiotics immediately and he was back to his normal self in no time. I'm so happy I found Fern to care for my puppy! Ozzy loves her, and her tail is always wagging when we pull up for summer camp! I had boarded my dog with Fern before and had a wonderful experience but the lack of communication is disappointing and my daughter or I will never recommend this business to anyone.Fern's phone had not been working since Friday. Fern is a fabulous pet sitter. She cared for our 2 cats many times while we lived in St. Louis. One of our cats has to take an anti-seizure pill and isn't always good about taking it, but Fern was always patient and diligent with our cat to ensure he took his pill 2 times a day. We had to change the procedure many times and she was always careful to follow our instructions. She also spent a lot of time with them on each visit so that when we returned the cats were not frazzled and upset, but were calm and happy to see us. She takes photos of them while she is there and texts them so we can see the cats in good spirits. I found Fern on Yelp earlier this year when I had several business trips coming up and no one to care for my nine-month-old hound mix. I had read through many reviews of dog boarders but couldn't imagine my dog sleeping alone in a crate at night (she's been sleeping with me in my bed since she was a baby!) We were thrilled with the care Fern gave our dog and parrots. We will never board our pets again. I only wish we would have known about her sooner. Fern is truly exceptional. We have used Fern and Extended Arms for over two years now for mid-day walks, for all-day doggie daycare, and for boarding overnight on multiple occasions (including for three nights last weekend).
