Short story is that I paid $160 for a diagnosis, the "Sales Adviser" (how about "service" rather…read morethan "sales") recommended something for $2k that was unnecessary - no thanks - problem not resolved, and wanted another $100 for further diagnosis - no thanks. The long story is engine misfiring, paid $160 for diagnosis. Kink in the vacuum hose (couldn't have taken too long to spot), but "Sales Advisor" recommends I also replace all ignition coils for $2k. What? Huh? Are they bad? They don't know, they only checked one of them and it was fine, but what's $2k, right? No thanks, I'll pass on that "sale". Replaced vacuum hose for another $300. But one cylinder is still misfiring. They want another $100 for further diagnosis. I expected that the $160 (not a cheap diagnosis price) would cover a full diagnosis, not a first pass diagnosis. I declined. I'd rather take my car to a place that does what is agreed upon and doesn't have a "Sales Adviser" who tries to sell me unnecessary things.

My family and I have been customers for years and have been treated very well. The staff does an…read moreincredible job on their work and has always communicated with me the needs. Twice they have even told me that work I thought needed done was not worth it and there was a more inexpensive fix! Recently, I purchased a used SUV from a dealer that guaranteed passing PA inspection. Upon taking my vehicle to Newlin's the SUV needed front tired to pass PA inspection. Newlin's replaced the tires to pass inspection. When I turned in the invoice to the dealership to honor their inspection guarantee, I was met with resistance from the dealer. I notified Newlin's and they provided documentation and photographs of the old tires from which I showed the SUV dealership. Once they saw the pictures and documentation they apologized upheld their guarantee. Newlin's went above and beyond to assist me and I am truly appreciative.

Although it is a family environment, there seemed to be a bit of a power struggle between the father who was retired, and his son( who is currently running the business). Their prices eg. labor is always higher than the dealership. One time I was quoted a price for the work being done on my auto on my way to pick the vehicle up only to then be told that because of the extra time that was being spent on the vehicle they decided to mark up the labor cost. I mean where do you go and the company calls you with a quoted price that you both agree upon, only to arrive and find out that they are charging you a much high price??? This conversation was all done with the Sr. Newlin, since his son was not available. Needless to say I just paid just so I could get my car. I called that weekend leaving a detail message explaining what my concerns were and why I would be stopping payment on the check. As I stated, I get that Bob Newlin Jr. was upset by this action and as he stated he would have made things right which he did, but what customer wants to go through being misquoted which has happened on more than one occasion. This incident took place a while back. I don't know if things have changed or not but to those that are searching please beware.

They got me taken care of on the same day - less than an hour after we called to check if they had my size in inventory. The staff was friendly and the pricing was reasonable.
