Stay away from here, unless you lock a price for an extended period of time in writing. I got a 7x10 unit in August for $80/mo ($69 + $11 for insurance), and they made me pay 3 months in advance, so my first payment after my move-in is due in December. Yesterday I got a letter from them saying that starting in December, the price goes up to $149/mo ($138 + $11) - If you remove the insurance fee (which is not optional), they effectively DOUBLED my rate in just 3 months! Now I'm having flashbacks to another storage provider I had in California a few years ago that also increased my rate significantly TWICE in less than a year, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do this again before the summer. I regret not having gone with a more "local" storage space provider, and will start looking for one soon, because this is plainly abusive. 11/21/23 Update: I called the number they left in their reply to my original message, and the woman I spoke with on the phone said someone would contact me to offer me a better rate. It's a week later and no one has called or emailed. If I log in to the site, I can see the amount of my next payment (which is supposedly still at the same rate I signed up for, but somehow 50% higher), and nowhere on the site does it say what my current or future rates are. All obfuscated in hopes people won't notice they're being gouged. read more

Extra Space Storage has a very nice facility located at 9300 Brodie Ln, Austin, TX 78748! I rented a large 10' x 15' unit from them for 2 years. Very courteous, professional and responsive staff. The facility is gated and extremely secure. The premises inside and outside of the storage buildings are kept pristine. Excellent climate control gives you peace of mind for all your belongings to be stored there. Easy access from MOPAC and Davis Lane! Slate was absolutely 100 stars out of 10 (or, in this case, 5!). I had so much anxiety about leaving my belongings somewhere for so many months when I was out of the states for work...he made sure I had everything I needed, had the most secure unit and walked me through how everything worked. The facilities are SO CLEAN and so secure! If you are like me, and don't have too many belongings but really care about the ones you do...no matter where you are in Austin, come here. They should not triple your rental rate after the four month promotion period ends. Also there's no dumpsters to dispose of your trash.

Very clean, well lit, easy access, secure. We've been really happy with the facility and have had no issues with the quality of the unit, or the staff. Easy in and out, plenty of flatbed dollies available to use. Temperature always acceptable even on the hottest days of summer. The one thing which makes us regret doing business here is the constant rate increase, always unannounced. Our rate has doubled over a short period of time. We'll be moving our belongings elsewhere which is really a shame because this location was so close to home. The fact we need to go to the trouble of moving everything again is a major inconvenience, but that's probably what they're betting on when the rates go up. We'd definitely recommend ESS if money's not an issue. read more

This place is a scam! After 3 months of storing my stuff here I get a letter in the mail that the "promotional rate is expiring". I was never informed that the agreed upon rate was a promotion. I also didn't get the first month free despite the signs out front saying otherwise. When I asked about it over the phone they said they didn't offer the first month free. The new price was ridiculous. I called to figure out why the price went up 199% and was told they'd send my complaint to corporate to see what they could do. A few days later I get an email saying the new price was 167% of the original price. So I moved out ASAP. I've had storage units in the some of the wealthiest areas in Southern California and never got an insane price increase. Go to AAA Storage and avoid the unnecessary fees and bs. read more

I had a really amazing experience with the manager here, Steve. I know this company is a nationwide chain, but it's local people who run the facilities. Steve was so helpful and friendly and went out of his way to help me with an issue. I had stuff in storage here and had some questions upon moving out. He really went above and beyond, calling me the next day to follow up on my request. Turns out with his help I was able to save almost $100! This review is strictly based on the financial side of the company. I chose this facility because it was close to home and the price was reasonable (I thought). But now I feel like I have been the victim of a bait and switch. I have only been in the unit for 6 months and they raised the monthly fees by $25.00. I understand an annual cost of business increase, but 15% and to not state that potential in the contract. They said they mailed me notification, but I never received it. If I had knowledge of this prior to signing a contract it might have steered me away. Their response - "Rental rates are subject to change, and we occasionally need to adjust them due to the rising costs associated with our services". In other words they "bait" you in with the "Online Offer/Introductory Offer" then in 6 months "switch" the rate to the actual amount, plus you will have a rate increase every year. I think they should be upfront with the customer about this, especially if you are on a budget. Just putting this out there for the next potential renter...I would have liked to know this. read more

Extra Space Storage on Brodie Lane is not upfront about the cost and fees associated with using the space. When I initially called for a quote I asked for the total move in cost. They neglected to inform me of the required monthly insurance fee which was an additional $10 a month. Only four months into my contract, they raised the rent fee. They did not contact me. When I called she said they "sent a letter" but of course have no receipt of sending it. She said they typically raise the rent every six months and DO NOT inform the renter at the time of the contract that they do that. She gleefully told me they could raise the rent any time they wished and as many times as many times as they wished. read more

Overall the easiest experience I had ever had while securing a storage unit. Compared them and Uhaul storage, and I couldn't be more happy that I selected this one! The Manager, Andrea Marshall, was absolutely fantastic with helping on getting everything squared away-from the paperwork to mattress covers. Very quick turnaround. I have used this storage facility for a few years and had been happy with it until we went there a couple of weeks ago and found that a number of our belongings had mildew on them! I spoke to the facility manager and was told that because of all the rain we had lately that they were not responsible for the damage to our belongings. Also told me that because we had declined the insurance from them that they would do nothing except offer us another storage room on another floor. When I called the customer service line I was told that they keep the facility at a temperature range of about 55 to 80 degrees (don't remember the exact temps). but that a humidity controlled facility was typically only offered in the northeast/ New York area. ?????? I want to make sure future renters know what to expect and to learn from my mistakes! 1. Don't put anything in here that's valuable to you! 2. use lots of DampRid tubs! 3. get the insurance if you can! 4. Keep a close eye on your storage room contents. Stuff happens when you least expect it! Renter beware! To say the least I am very disappointed in this place!!!!! read more
