Rent increases are ridiculous. Wanted insurance removed as we had other insurance that covered our tools and materials being stored. Notified them more than once last year to remove the insurance, we were then sent a document via email that someone had already electronically signed. We did not sign that document. Finally found an available unit brand new 10x35 which is 5 ft bigger than the one we had with Extra Space storage. Bigger unit elsewhere for 212.00 per month when Extra Space was charging 387.00 per month for a 10×30. Still had 5 days left that were paid for, cleaned the unit out yesterday and took timestamp photos of as well as informed the manager at 1:30 yesterday. She didn't close it out in the system. Receive email this morning stating we have a payment due of 387.00 Stay away. Crazy high prices. Shady practices. Will be filing formal complaint with corporate. CFPB and BBB read more

We began storage with this company back in Mar'22. This review is for the greater company. I had used another location previously with better results. Firstly, same company, same size units, different locations, maybe 3-4 miles apart, wildly different prices. We chose this one because it was close enough but not the closest to our house. Initially things were good, we signed the contract. The gal in the office was upfront that we had a promo price that would likely increase in 6months, 6 MONTHS, by about 10%. And that if the new price wasn't doable to call it would be lowered 3 months later, I received an email saying my price would go from $200 (a 10x20) to $280, so in 3 months not 6 and 40% not 10% WTF ~ I called the local office, no answer. I called the 1800 and spoke to a guy who said he had no authority but could lower it to $240 (still 20% not %10) is that not authority? So before they could raise the price AGAIN I called to prepay at that rate through when we will terminate our contract. Interestingly, the great company has NO place to give a review, but when you google Extra Storage Space, you do get many listings for complaint sites like BBB and indeed as well as a class action lawsuit about bait and switch. read more

This facility was very helpful when it came to me moving from out of state to CO, however there was a couple "extra" fees that they do not disclose to you until you get there. The staff was accommodating and even came in early in order to aid me and getting my unit. The facility is on the smaller side which is not necessarily anyone's fault but the design makes it hard to maneuver a Uhaul truck around with a vehicle tow dolly. In addition to this if you are pressed for time they know you will take the unit because that is what you need. Finally If you are Military you are eligible for a discount however this is one of those places you have to ask they don't inform you. read more

The staff here is amazing! They are extremely helpful and friendly. We originally thought we only needed to use this storage for a couple of weeks, while waiting for a renovation to be completed. We ended up needing it just over a month. They let us just pay for the few extra days rather than charging us for a whole extra month. We ended up still needing the storage and moved into a smaller unit. This is the kind of company that makes you want to do business with them. First month in and no complaints. Very thorough with the system and their availability. Super friendly as well as understanding while listening carefully to questions and comments. The only note I dislike is their hours. 6am to 10pm I think. I'm a night owl. But my lifestyle preferences shouldn't bash their protection of my belongings in those late night hours. Extra Space Storage on Stetson Hills is the best storage place in town. The new owners are very friendly and helpful especially Karena Apicella!!! She help me out in a particularly awkward situation and it got taken care of as fast as it could have been taken care of. Plan on a huge rate increase in a short amount of time if you go to Extra Space Storage. I moved into a unit at the 5110 Stetson Hills Colorado Springs facility with no "First month free" at $145 a month in January. In May I received notice that it was to be increased June 1st to $278 a month--a 92% increase. And the advertised rate on-line was $217. What a way to treat your customers. I think this is known as "Bait and Switch." I spoke with the manager and he said he spoke with corporate and he could get it reduced by $50 to $228. Still above the published price and still a 57% increase. But my automatic debit still went through for $278. Extra Space apparently thinks people will stay because it is a hassle to move. That makes it even worse--taking advantage of people. I had to pay the extra amount for two months before I was able to move -and it cost over $100 and the better part of my weekend to make the move. When we pulled in to move out we couldn't get in for a while because there were several trucks and trailers moving out. How well is that working out Extra Space? I still can't believe they would be so bad as to charge a current customer $61 a month more than they charge a new customer. My guess is revenues are down--like California and New York--they raise their taxes but their revenues are down. Take an economics class. For potential customers: they may get you in on a deal but don't expect it to stick. I've used different storage units over the years--I think I had one increase in all the times I rented and it was about $10--so don't think it is normal to have these kind of increases.
