Rented a unit at the Farmington, MI location for 3 years. Yes, the price increased regularly but I did not deduct any stars from the rating because EVERY storage unit company does that and they did provide advance warning. The customer service is awesome, friendly, helpful, accommodating, will work with you on late payments. I vacated today and there was mouse poop on my storage containers but again, that happens in all outdoor-access storage units. Moved to a unit closer to home, was going to go with Public Storage but their customer service is awful and they are very unprofessional and unorganized so I went to another Extra Space location in Lincoln Park, MI, and rented there. That location is great as well. read more

Apparently they raise rent on a consistent basis. They told me it's because availability; however, there are several units of the same size available online for HALF of what I'm paying. They refuse to do anything about it. Wouldn't recommend these vultures to anyone. read more

I originally rated them 5 stars because their employees were so kind and they had great prices. After 2 years with them they have slowly raised my monthly rate to an astronomical price. For a 10x10 unit they are now charging me $231 per MONTH (started at $80). I am a single mom and cannot afford this. I will be moving out asap and finding a storage facility that isn't money hungry and trying to slowly wring customers out to dry. I am signed up for auto-pay and their system has repeatedly not taken the money out on time and then they tack on the $35 late fee and THEN charge my card. Also, when my ex husband tried to gain access to my unit and I didn't let him he blocked me into their parking lot with our 1yr old daughter in my car and wouldn't let me out. I had to drive on their grass around his vehicle, squeeze behind an electrical pole and they did nothing and refused to give me the footage to show my attorney even when there were no other vehicles or people shown in the footage. Overall they are just ridiculously priced and unhelpful after you move your stuff in. They're great beforehand, I guess. read more

Stored my entire house here for almost a year. Once we moved everything we took out of the unit was infested with mice. We had to leave everything in our garage and check each box before taking it in our new house. Our couch was ruin as it was infested with mice and I couldn't get them out. They chewed through the fabric and took the whole thing over. My stove was also heavily infested. I was able to take it apart and get most of them out. All in all it was disgusting. I would never use this place again. read more

The office staff was great when we first went to tour the place. The facility we first saw was clean and spacious. the staff recommended that we purchase an insurance in case something was to happen to our stuff so we did. The positivity ends there. When we went to move EVERYTHING we own there I noticed a mouse trap sitting in the hall next to our unit; this was not there initially on our tour. I hoped for the best but that definitely did not occur. A few weeks ago as we moved into a new home, I began to unpack and found evidence of mice being in my stuff and even had damage to some items. We filed a claim with this "fantastic" insurance and this week we get a letter saying that a rodent infestation does not fit under what they cover. Overall, pay the extra money and go somewhere else. I have spent the last few weeks either replacing items or disinfecting EVERYTHING with bleach as recommended by the CDC. I am not even halfway through but I bet my water bill, grocery bill, and overall bills are going to be high this month. read more

Rented a space online for a certain price only to find out on arrival that this price isn't valid an additional insurance also must be purchased. How about making insurance either optional, or part of the rental price? This should've been disclosed before wasting my time coming out there. read more

They did a great job in assessing my needs and setting up my account. Despite big snow, they cleaned off my spot so I could see the parking lanes before the snow plow got there. Easy to work with. read more
