**SCAMMERS** I AM SO FED UP WITH THEIR RATE CHANGES!!!! Reading complaints from other sites I see people saying they had 2 rate hikes in 18 months.... I just received my 5th (the 1st one only 3 months in) and I am done dealing with these crooks. What started out to be convenient and affordable has turned out to be nothing but a scam. This storage place is terrific. Ruben, the manager, is nice and makes everything totally easy. We stored our belongings here for 7 months and it was a perfect experience. No weird loop holes or unexpected charges or rules. We called less than one week before moving out and there was no minimum notice or anything. Easy easy easy. read more

I rented a space here about three years ago and in the course of those three years there were frequent price hikes. In fact, the price went up by 25 percent in three years. I finally decided to vacate the space. When I did, I went to the office and told them I was vacating. The person in the office couldn't give me anything in writing to confirm my request. I needed a storage unit for a couple of months and decided to go with ESS. It is a bit out of the way, but the pricing reflects that - significantly cheaper than storage units in DTLA or on the westside. It also has really good gate hours, which I didn't realise was going to be such a plus until my movers showed up 3 hours late and we had to really hustle to vacate the home that I was selling that same day. In the past, I'd always assumed that you could get into any storage unit 24 hours a day. Now I know that's not true and ESS really does have good, late gate hours. I also like that you can pay online and look for spaces on line. All the staff I encountered were super professional and informative whether in person or on the phone. Facilities are clean and everything seemed to be working great while I was there. Never had any problems getting in or out etc. etc. read more

I first came here after I inherited some family heirlooms from my grandmother. I was living abroad at the time and was afraid to leave these sentimental things without being able to check on them for months at a time. I'd seen Storage Wars and heard horror stories about sketchy storage facilities. The casitas location is not like that. Ken runs a really tight ship. I've never seen anything weird going on. The location is clean and really secure -even the other tenants that I've run into have all been really nice. He lives on site and has always been really helpful. Also during the time I've had things here I haven't had problems with leaks or rodents, etc. All by way of saying I really recommend the Extra Space Storage - Casitas location. read more

Let me tell you something about Ken. He is the most courteous, professional, kind, diligent, incredible human being I've encountered in a long time. It's rare to meet a person like Ken! Within moments after reserving a unit with Extra Storage's main phone line, I received a call from Ken confirming the reservation and offering instructions for getting to his location. We were a few minutes late, but because we called ahead to let him know, he made sure to make time for us upon our arrival. He showed us the unit to make sure our stuff could fit and directed the checking-in process to be as efficient as possible. He told me everything I needed to know upfront and was able to give me a great overview of certain pitfalls like making sure to try my gate-exit code on the way in to make sure it works before we have to exit the facility. Generally--- just a fantastic experience and a great man. Can't say enough good things about the whole experience . read more

This review is for the Casitas location. It is tucked away and barely noticeable. It is extremely clean and the unit doors are in excellent condition, not banged up or damaged like one facility I visited. The interior of the units are tin or metal so there is unlikely to be any pests burrowing their way into your boxes, not like wood or drywall at some other storage facilities that I won't name. Liz and Kenneth are very helpful, and there is a manager on site, which gives me a sense of security. They also provide for purchase an excellent assortment of boxes and other materials for packing. Although I am not renting from them at this time, I would definitely use them for future storage needs. read more

Basically, Ken (on site manager) is the man. He got me in and out in 10 min. and was totally accommodating.

I don't think the location is a nice place. It is hard to find and the area does not look safe. I would not put my things in that location. Go for your self and see what I mean. Employees might be nice and friendly but they will not be there all the time to keep the place safe. read more

I have to say this is a well-managed place. I had no problems for as long as I've been with them for a couple of years or so. Well, managed, professional, courteous. But their rate went up about 50% within that time. I started at $50 and now I'm asked to pay $76 for a 5x5. Oh, and when I called to complain, they told me that my rate gets hiked every 6-9 months. Talk about NOT rewarding customer loyalty! Time to go to Public Storage again, where I can get the same space for $58. read more

Let me make something absolutely clear: there's nothing physically or functionally wrong with this place. It's clean, well-managed, and I have no complain whatsoever from the actual place or the staff on location -- they have been nothing but courteous and absolutely professional. What I don't like is the FREQUENT AND SIGNIFICANT rate changes, or the excessive late fees ($15) if you are a few days late with the rental. But this is this company's BUSINESS MODEL, and UNFORTUNATELY A LOT OF OTHER STORAGE COMPANIES', COMPLETE BAIT AND SWITCH. My 5x5 space started at $50 bucks and when it hit $83 I knew it was time to go. All these companies are basically betting that you'd be too lazy to want to move in six months or a year. They obviously look up their statistics spreadsheets about how often people move or at what price increase they are likely to move and they will push the price up accordingly. Right before I moved out they were asking me for $83/month for my 5x5, while they were advertising the same space at $68 for new customers!!! When I pointed out that fact, they refused to match their own price so their position basically was "YOU'RE A LOYAL CUSTOMER, PAY UP OR BYE-BYE..." So, my advice is, factor in a few hours every year or so to move from one storage place to another. There is a Public Storage close to this one, that I came from. When Public Storage got too expensive, I moved to Extra Space. When, in the future, Public Storage gets too expensive, I'll move back to these guys or to another storage company in the area. Here's the trick. Have your stuff packed well, so it can be easily moved- I did! It took me one trip in my car. It will maximize your storage space and make your life a whole lot easier when you decide to move because your fees start going north. And they will. read more

This place is managed superbly. Ken is the man! He is helpful, communicative, and really makes you feel welcomed and well taken care of. He answered the phone when I called for information initially. He answered all of my questions. He made me feel comfortable leaving my life's accumulation of possessions in this Extra Space Storage location. When I arrived I thought the area looked a little bit "rough" but I would DEFINITELY recommend this location. I was there during the early morning and late operating hours and I felt safe the entire time. More importantly, my stuff was safe while I was away! This Extra Space is out of the way and a true hidden gem! I never experienced much traffic in and out of the premises and found the location to be extremely convenient. My experience was phenomenal. If I ever move back to LA I will definitely use this Extra Space storage location even if I have to pass by other storage spaces to get there.
