I called with concerns about my storage unit and options for payment as well as possibly moving into a larger unit.

After seeing such great reviews online we decided to book with pick and pack. This was easily the worst, most expensive, and most frustrating move I've ever experienced. We moved out of our 2-bed, 2-bath apartment on Sunday, August 2nd. We've moved this exact same furniture multiple times over the last five years, moved that were much farther away and with multiple stops. (I'm talking two stops over 40 minutes away plus a new apartment 40 minutes away from that, walk up to walk up). This move was one apartment with a walk up to a new apartment with an elevator 20 minutes apart. lt has never cost this much or gone this badly. They estimated $1,600-$1,800 for 6-7 hours which was similar to our last moves, but the final bill came out to a whopping $2,200, $2,500 with tip. That's $500-$700 more than far more complicated moves we've done in the past. The crew moved much slower than previous movers I have experienced. They kept disappearing for 15 minutes at a time, and they actually charged us for their lunch break, which is standard, except they were gone over an hour and there was only 20 minutes of travel time. The lack of respect for our things was unbelievable. They completely cracked my antique bar cart handles and wheel, cracked one of our lamps, and my dog's crate. Worst of all, my jewelry armoire was locked prior to our move but must have been pried open because the lock is completely broken and bent now. I haven't even finished unpacking yet and I'm terrified of what else I'm going to find ruined. On top of the damage, they literally left multiple pieces of furniture behind at our old place. They claimed some pieces couldn't be moved safely, which is a total lie because previous movers handled them just fine (Again, for less money and less time EVEN PACKING THEM FOR US) . Other items they just abandoned without saying a word. (there were things we had them leave, these were things they were absolutely supposed to take). They also promised they would arrange my living room furniture they had to move due to space to back where I wanted it at the end of the day, but after taking all day, they just left without doing it. They also did an awful job putting our furniture back together creating even more work for us It is incredibly fishy how this place has so many good reviews online. Now I know why: they make you fill out a survey right before they leave, before you even have a second to look around and notice that your stuff is broken or missing. Again these piece have all been moved multiple times by different movers (all good experiences) with no damage.

The owner, Eli is a con artist, and they didn't do a thing to rectify the situation. They lied about the reviews, telling me upfront that the bad reviews were written by a " past, disgruntled customer, who told their friends to write bad reviews." All lies. The movers threw everything into a huge pile in my storage space. DON'T BE A SUCKER!!! You've been warned! PS: Ronnie is very believable, convincing conman, and had booze breath. And BBB/filing a claim is a complete waste of time and energy. Simply put, they are crooks and liars.

The lady at the front desk had assured me of the price, advised me on how to tip, and sold me a mattress bag: I was set. I confirmed with her, several times over, that there would be no hidden charges anywhere. Service in the office is great, and I was feeling pretty relieved. On the day of the move: - I know standard 'niceness' may not be in their job description, but it was like these guys were really trying to be rude. One of them said a few words to me, confirming I was me. The others zoomed past me and proceeded to enter bedrooms and grab belongings - you aren't going to say hi? You may be the movers but this is my apartment. - They were inefficient. Ended up taking a lot longer than promised, and one of three movers was always waiting for the other two. Guys - for real? This is a per-man, per-hour service. - They don't guarantee that any IKEA furniture will survive the move (i.e., if IKEA breaks, it's on me). I get it - IKEA furniture is cheap for a reason. "Great," he said, and proceeded to carry out my IKEA furniture without even wrapping it up. Any non-IKEA piece was carefully wrapped. But IKEA was dragged out. When he smashed the corner of my desk against the door on his way out, I protested. "Aren't you going to wrap any of it?" --"No. It's IKEA. We're not liable if it breaks." WTF ---I know that's your disclaimer, but you're not even going to TRY to not break it? - Before they left my apartment, they mentioned I'd also need to pay the price of a parking ticket. Wait, why?? "Because we'll get a ticket. No parking spots in NY." Me: "Um - isn't it your fault if you double-park?" I mean, that's why I'm paying for movers - so I don't have to worry about this stuff. Them: "No." I get it, It's New York. Parking is tough. "Fine. But I'm not paying for a parking ticket unless you actually get a parking ticket." Them: "You have to. Parking ticket fee." WTFFFFF Finally, the truck pulled out. They met me at my new apartment. My roommate and I found a parking spot and defended it with the vigor of true New Yorkers. The truck showed up and parked. No parking ticket. - After a terrible move, I get the bill - WAY higher than I expected. I'm talking over a hundred dollars higher than promised. Why? All kinds of extra fees and charges. An example: gas fee. "But I'm already paying for a transportation fee. Isn't that the same thing? And the drive over here was less than 5 mins, so even that is ridiculous. You probably used almost no gas." Nope - huge gas fee. Etcetera. - At the end of it all, I didn't even get my $50 deposit back, or subtracted from the total charge. I tried calling the office, but to no avail. The only reason this place isn't getting a 1 star is that most of my stuff actually did make it to my apartment unharmed. Bottom line: the office is great. The negotiations are great. But the actual movers? I wouldn't trust them again.

I've moved often enough to have experienced the good and the bad of movers. These guys are GREAT! Careful, accurate estimates, extremely careful attention to handling, not just wrapping furniture in moving blankets to avoid damage but METICULOUS wrapping, careful handling... every aspect of the move was absolutely top-drawer with thoughtful, professional attention to detail. The guys on the truck were all experienced, knowledgable longtime employees, not the day laborers who didn't know anything about how to do a professional move that other companies have employed. The fact that someone would choose to work with Daniel & Sons for 10 or 20 years says volumes itself. If this company can provide moving services to you, DON'T EVEN CONSIDER USING ANYONE ELSE!

I did think it was a bit strange that everything was done via email and there's really no other way of contacting them. That said, they were extremely responsive to email, which was fine. The movers themselves were personable and worked efficiently throughout the process, which I appreciated. Beyond that - there were issues. Firstly, the team arrived about 20 minutes late. I did appreciate the heads-up text, but on one of the most stressful days of your life, it's worth noting - especially as it was early in the morning. More importantly, I was under the impression that loading the truck was part of the service I hired Intense Movers to provide. Nope. Instead, that responsibility was completely handed off to my partner, who stayed with the truck while the movers brought items down for him to load. There was no discussion about this. In fact, it was initially suggested that I use only 2 movers but I requested another to be more efficient. I didn't realize that they assumed my partner was an unpaid 4th. Items with "this side up" stickers were completely disregarded. They brought everything down however they wanted to and handed them off to my partner however was most convenient for them. Also, a couple of guys who were not part of the moving team entered my apartment unannounced, to say hello to the movers. They did not clearly identify themselves, though it seemed like they may have been affiliated with the company. Regardless, having strangers invite themselves into my apartment during the move was pretty inappropriate. Lastly, when it came time for payment, you can only pay by cash or Zelle - which, to me, is sketchy AF. I had planned to send it via Zelle to their company account as instructed. However, the lead mover was insistent that I send the payment directly to him instead, saying he needed to pay his workers immediately. He was so insistent about it that it made me feel really uneasy. In the end, if I could do it all over - I definitely would have chosen someone else who was more professional.
