Possibly the WORST storage place ever! You can only dump one box of trash no matter if you pay high prices for this place. Management seem incompetent of pricing when asked a question even if it's the manager being asked the question. I would return to Extra Space without a doubt. Here's my analysis: Pros: * Extremely Clean * Secure * Exceptionally friendly service * Great location * Super good access hours * Great, competitive pricing Cons: * Noticed a few people working on vehicles, etc on site but to each their own. They were all friendly and seemingly harmless. * Must exit by 9:55 pm or gate holds you in. - That said, Carlos is a really cool guy who helps you out (even with a smile and good attitude). read more

I've had my storage unit for over a year now and one thing I don't like about this company is that they increase the monthly rent every 5 months. I've tried to get a clear explanation as to why this happens but it still didn't make any sense to me. I've moved all of my things twice now to save some money and now I'm just hoping that by the beginning of next year I won't need a storage place anymore. I just moved from another storage unit complex into Extra Space. I was amazed at how professional and friendly Carlos was. The facility is very clean and well maintained. The cost was about 1/4 of what I was paying. I know that most storage units are alike but good customer service goes a long way with me. I will be staying with Extra Space as long I need the extra space :-) read more

Under the current management here, I would strongly suggest that you store your belongings at another facility. I own a small business locally and have rented a space on this property for about 8 years to store my equipment. As of November 2011. I no longer rent a unit on this property. In my opinion, the facility is poorly managed. The previous manager never had any problems with vandalism, theft anything and at the time I was very happy to rent a storage space here. About 2 years ago that manager went to another property. 1. The current manager has an unclean appearance, and he looks like he just rolled out of bed. He is unwilling to take constructive criticism or suggestions. When you bring genuine problems to him. He is dismissive and downplays major issues. 2. The current manager has a low level of standard. He will rent to anyone, including tenants who have had problems at other storage facilities. 3. Since the last manager left the property. It has been plagued with problems. The Sheriff's Department has been called out multiple times over the last few months for things like break-ins, vandalism, vagrancy and a lot of general problems that were not there before he took this position. 4. The manager will downplay these problems, he will say it's no big deal, or he is working on it and nothing seems to get done. Nothing changes. By all appearances, he is doing the minimum that he needs to do to keep his job. 5. On more than one occasion over the weekends I have witnessed unit occupants barbecuing outside of their units like it was tailgate party. 6. The manager says that only a handful of tenets have 24-hour access, I was one of them. However, at midnight or 2 in the morning on any given weekend. There are people walking around with no apparent reason to be there. 7. The video cameras are poorly positioned or the resolution is not high enough to clearly see anything. I had a table stolen in front of my unit and he could not pull up the video to find out what happened. Either he lied to me, or he is incapable of doing so. Either way, he is a liability. We found my table; it was taken by 2 guys who were cleaning out an auctioned unit. They were not escorted onto the property or off the property. That is a problem. 8. He is not securing the property the way you should. He says he is walking the property every night. However I do not see it and neither does anyone I have spoke with and I am there to almost 2 in the morning, some days. 9. I know there were people sleeping in the units one time, but I cannot prove it. It is obvious in the last 2 years that the amount of unit renters that use drugs and are homeless, has gone up. 10. He is not securing the empty storage units. At any given time. The empty storage units have their door open, exposing the inside. This gives anyone with the inspiration, the ability to punch through a half-inch of drywall to access the next unit. Once you have access to the unit, you can literally go from one to another to another, breaching the security on the entire building. This is a huge issue. With these current policies in place at this location, it is not a matter of if, it's a matter of when something will go wrong. I have pointed this out to management and his supervisor, and still nothing changes. I am angry and frustrated that this property has gotten to this point. Recently we moved to a storage facility where I am paying 3 times the rate for a smaller space. It is also another 3 miles farther from my home. I am much happier knowing that my belongings are safe then to pay a smaller rate at a substandard facility If you need to rent a storage space locally, I would suggest you go to the extra space storage facility in El Cajon off of Main Street. The facility is brand-new and the manager is excellent. It's okay just my opinion. read more

I found the units to be unsafe for storage. The insides were only sheetrock with wood framed ceilings. This would make it very easy to break through from another unit and take your belongings. Also the door has an opening at the bottom for insects and other creepy crawlies to get into your stuff. It was also listed as climate controlled. These units are definitely not. Even though the manage was very nice and offered a good deal, I would be willing to pay more for a more secure unit somewhere else. read more

Tonight my husband and I went to our storage unit to find that our unit flooded in one spot with the recent weekend of rain. Lucky us our towers of boxes collapsed as the bottom boxes were saturated from the water. As annoying and frustrating as this was, the manager Carlos was awesome! He didn't get an attitude about the situation, he helped us with a smile, got us new boxes and even a new unit to move into since we felt uncomfortable staying in the one we had. He gave us an extra lock to use incase we couldn't finish moving everything in one night, didn't even give us a time limit to be out of our old unit. We ended up finishing everything and getting everything moved over to our new unit but he definitely turned our night around being so helpful and it was nice knowing we had extra time if needed. I first inquired about a rental space on the internet and utilized the chat feature for assistance. The chat feature was quite helpful, giving me information on the location I first chose as well as locations that were cheaper. I made an online reservation and showed up about 2 hours later and had to wait about 10 minutes for the attendant. She was quite pleasant and knowledgeable, as well as helpful so I practically forgot about the short delay. Besides, I understand how these things work. The attendant showed me a few choices, I made my selection, then back to the office for a bit of paperwork. The only thing that I didn't like about the whole experience was the presence of some other occupants "lurking" around, and made me wonder if they actually lived there. read more
