We have Been paying for a storage unit for almost 2 years. We have not gone back cents January when we pushed back our Christmas stuff in the storage. Today we go back to open our unit to retrieve some photos that we need for a service, and both of our keys don't work. Check the emails to make sure our payments went through and we have confirmation for the past nine months that her payments were confirmed but yet our keys can't open our unit. I do not recommend this storage at all. They have horrible service and they also treat their loyal customers horrible. Everything was perfect before the new district manager came in, which is Margaret. She does not know how to run a business whatsoever and is very unprofessional. We have been very loyal customers for 25 years there and out of nowhere she changes the gate hours very unexpectedly. I do not recommend anyone renting storages there, unless you want very bad and unprofessional service. read more

They don't have pushcarts so bring your own. I started rent on Sept. 2015. Today 1/11/16 I received a postcard that says my rate will increase in Feb. My rate went from $132 to $150 and it's only been 4 months. Not happy at all. I spoke to Ron (or Rob?) and asked questions. He said that they don't prorate. If I move out before my next billing cycle, they don't prorate for the remaining days. You pay for the whole month even if you move out early. The hallway in my unit is dirty whenever I go there. There are cigarette butts, broken glass, loose screws. Not safe at all. Someone can get hurt. Today 1/13 there was broken glass again and I stepped on one. Good thing I was wearing sneakers. The unit behind mine has stuff all the way to the ceiling. There are stuff hanging over my unit. I'm afraid they'll fall into my unit. read more

This place is extremely bad. They have a really bad homeless issue and no one cares about your safety. I called twice and put in a complaint. No one ever cared to resolve the issue. They have a "new" indoor storage building and it is full on homeless people living there. They have their things in the hallways and block off access to the units. It smells like crap and smoke in the unit. They sit in the hallway and drink and smoke. Our stuff smelled of smoke. Do NOT get a unit here. They have homeless people getting into fights and breaking into other people's units. They say the new building is safe and only people that have a unit in there have access. That's a huge lie. There are homeless people waiting for you to open the door to come in and sleep there. There are no cameras and they DO NOT have climate control. It's all a lie. No one cares about what's going on. The district manager even called me to try to "fix" the issue but he did not care and even told me they have no proof even though two people saw everything happening. It's a joke and the service is horrible. read more

I moved out of the Stanton location 2 months now and don't miss it one bit. My experience with Extra Space is the corporate office is very professional and polite but on site staff treat their customers bad. But it's the nature of the buisness. Corporate does alot in sales and treat people respectfully because of that side of a buisness as the location knows that they have to deal with a subset of people that may be in a tight spot. There are only a few reasons to have a storage, need the extra space, process of moving or down on you luck. But that is not a reason to look down on people in fact working at McDonald's takes skills and a storage employee is just under a janitor. But these guys lie to people they don't like like their unpublished undocumented rules they make if they don't like you. The other thing with Extra Space is they do not have a chain of command their district manager is the last say. Do yourself a favor and use a better storage company. One that gives you your lease, one that posts the rules, one that doesn't ask you for a review before you use their service. I used Stanton storage up the road for 8 years and that was from 2001 to 2009. Never did I have a problem. Never told one hour to do things once contact is signed none of Extra storage bs. No hidden rules and my rent only was raised twice during that time no one herrassed me and the people on the property never said anything negative. If you want to chance Extra Space especially the Stanton location do one thing ask people you see who currently rent what they because those months I rented there maybe 2 people had something positive to say out of maybe 20. Also this location is strange they know everything you do on property but they have lots of break in of the units but they know nothing. My guess is you work a dumb job yourvthe inside person that's my opinion. read more

I would give this place -10000000 stars if I could. Allow me to explain to you what happened to me as a customer here. Back in July 2020 I got a storage shed here to keep my belongings secure and safe while I was away for the military. Keep in mind that the storage shed was indoors locked and you also needed a code to get into the gate as well as the room that led to the hallway where my storage shed was and there were security cameras. At some point in January I got my phone back and noticed I had a voicemail from the place. I checked it and it said there was an attempted break-in to my storage shed. They told me that it appeared that no one actually broke in, but they just tried to and that the door was "jammed." They then without asking me charged me $80 for some kind of fee in regards to the damage and I found that out later when I questioned them about it in addition to them raising my rate for no reason. Keep in mind that I also had insurance. I then came back a few weeks ago on leave and I decided to check the shed out for myself after failed attempts of trying to get information from them. They kept telling me they would send me pictures of the damage as well as any evidence they find including footage in which case they never did even though I asked many times. When I showed up they were no help whatsoever and basically just tried to get me out the door and they still tried to get me to pay more fees in which I refused. When I showed up I realized not only was my door not jammed every single item I owned was gone. Now I do know it's a bad area but that does not excuse their incompetence and lack of responsibility. I think it's possible that it was an inside job. My storage shed was the only one that was targeted which is interesting because the employees knew that I was away for a long time. I would advise that you never ever use this place for storage...... Oh yeah, I asked the OC Sheriff's Department, apparently this is an ongoing problem here. read more

Daniel was a great help to me. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a storage place near my new home but I came across this great place. Just under new management less than a year ago, these guys really seem to be in their game. Daniel was able to find just the right sized unit for me, a nice little 4x5. He also explained why the disk style locks are better than the normal kind. They are impossible to cut with bolt cutters, making your unit much safer. I was very appreciative of this information. I also really like that all the units are on the ground floor. No annoying stairs to deal with. They only have one long row of units, making it very easy to find your unit. He even gave me a ride on a golf cart to check it out before I purchased it. All in all this was a great find and I am very happy with the service I've received. read more

They had the unit we wanted and the price was fair. This got us in the door. After looking around, we found that it has great access for any type of vehicle and easy in/out access to the facility. Units are clean, treated for pests regularly and great curb appearance. These items helped me feel that my items will be safe and sound. read more

Just want to say that it is my absolute pleasure to write a review for this location. The team members here are amazing! Joanne, Sue, and their new Manager Gerry were so friendly, so professional, and so helpful. I reserved a storage space for the first time ever yesterday and on short notice. As soon as I reserved my spot Joanne called me right away to confirm everything and just went over information and even asked me if this was my first time using them. Then as soon as I arrived, I was immediately taken care of. The thing is my apartment flooded so my family and I are staying in a hotel and we needed to store our belongings somewhere so my state of mind was frazzled. It was a very overwhelming day for us. However, all three of those team members made me feel so much better. They cheered me up with laughter and great conversation. So to each of you (Joanne, Sue, and Gerry) thank you so much for your amazing customer service. And Gerry you deserved the promotion you received. Keep up the great work, your gonna go very far. I am happy to have rented a space here again, I had one, same size 5' x 10' from October 2003- March 2004 when I relocated to The Valley when it was called All Aboard. Now they have longer gate hours and the same well lit, clean facility. My space was always dry and well secured, and I have no reason to think this has changed in the past 10 years. I rented here not because it was the lowest priced 5' x 10' in the area HOWEVER they include insurance for more than the value of the stuff I have in there, to protect against fire or flood or I am guessing earthquake damage. Since I had no issues with security or access previously it was a no brainer to store my stuff here again temporarily. There is a resident manager onsite now as well. WIN-WIN read more
