If I could give a negative 5 I would. The service level here is the worst I've seen in 20 years. Virginia needs to be replaced by someone that cares about customers and about her job. She is rude and argumentative. I was on hold for 20 minutes with customer service and I asked if she could make a phone call to their service department since my enclosed trailer wasn't available. She said they call from a different number therefore they're calls are answered. However she wouldn't make the call. She asked what did they tell me before and that would not change. I guess she gets to make decisions for all of uHaul. The first rule of business is the customer is always right. If not right, respected? Not here. This location needs a lot of work! She had a million questions and was over detailing every one so I asked if one of them could help me with installing a hitch to my vehicle. They said one second, they were helping a customer and would get to me. She continued asking questions and a minute later I asked again if one could help me. They said one moment, they were helping a customer. She left a few minutes later and one of the two asked how they could help me. Didn't want to give it less than two stars since I'm sure their garage/yard crew were more on the ball since that's how Uhauls typically work. read more

I am a victim of mountain view Uhaul, Re: Virginia Martinez I was attacked by an uhaul employee today!! Yes, this is never heard of before. I rent a uhaul today. Because I am an experience and careful driver, I denied the coverage for vehicle damage. My day of moving was very smooth and however, when i return the vehicle, the nightmare started. The person who checked in my vehicle was very rude. And then she pointed a place at the front of the vehicle and ask me what happened there. I am shocked. First of all, it was so tiny a place and second, my trip was very smooth and I didn't scratch anything. I explained to her the situation but she won't listen. She said that I am the only person who rented the vehicle that day hence is responsible for this accident. Even worse, she said I can go now and her manager is going to get in touch with me regarding this accident. I was shocked. Certainly, I am not comfortable to leave the place without a conclusion hence I asked her to provide an update but she insisted that she can't do anything and her manager is not available. I am frustrated and asked her name and a pen to write down her name, she refused to provide me a pen and asked me to leave. of course I don't feel confortable to leave without a conclusion and then she attacked and pushed me and broken my phone. Now, magically, her manager show up!! ( Who was not available, remember ). The manager won't help either, I showed the manager my phone but the manager won't care. BUT, the manager now printed me a receipt and the receipt has no info about the damage and the case is closed!! I am getting in touch with Uhaul regarding this incident. However, I suspect this is not the only time something like this happened in this place. If you also have a similar bad experience. Honestly I've never seen such unhappy and miserable employees ever in my life and I own businesses. 2/6/2021 Around 2:30pm (down time) to get a few tanks of propane refilled and I first asked how many they can refill for me due to a limit/shortage. But what I got back was a tsk and a cold shoulder, the employee just brushed me off and and rudely said " I already told you, if you didn't hear it it's your fault." So I ask to see the manager and he laugh and pointed me inside, mind you all I wanted was to refill propane. So I went inside and no manager is available. I had a fairly good experience overall, but the reason I am docking 2 stars is simply on price. Everyone I dealt with, whether in the store or any of the customer service reps I called, were all very professional and nice. I think everyone did a good job. I do wish the guy at the front who had checked out my truck would have been a little more knowledgeable on size of trucks. I specifically told him my stuff roughly and asked him if a 20-foot truck would be good enough. He said, yeah sure. Well, guess what? It was not! We had overflow that the movers could not fit and have to return again on an out of state move!!! Boo. Aside from that, the truck was in great shape, drove perfectly, used a lot of gas, but oh well on that. But the worse part was price...I paid close to $1,800 on a one-way truck from CA to OR. I've rented a 6'x12' trailer at mountain view store on July 7th, 2022. I had to buy a hitch to connect the trailer which was recommended by the store representative. He connected the trailer to the hitch at the yard by himself. The guy was unpleasant, stinky, dirty cloths, and he was smoking cigarette while he was working. After loading, the trailer got very close to the ground and dangerous to drive. The load was a very few items maybe 1000lbs.max. and loaded as recommended and strapped. I had to stop at Burlingame u-haul location to show the issue and consult. The guy at Burlingame store was very helpful. He mentioned it is not the right hitch and offered me a free longer hitch to be replaced with the wrong one but he said he cannot install it because he doesn't have the right tools for the job and the trailer must be off-loaded. I had to use my own car jack to pick the tail up and replace the hitch myself; took me a couple of hours. When I got back to drop off and explain the issue, he didn't even apologize for his mistake. I gave him the short hitch to pass it on if anybody needs it but I believe he is rude and unpleasant. read more

No one would answer the phone so went over and found two workers behind the desk - one was eating an ice cream and the other was clicking away - no one said anything. Lazy people who could care less about business. Yard was full of trucks and supply was a plenty at a time when resources should be scarce. We paid for our supplies and the lazy people just sat there and basically told us to get the items we purchased ourselves. I hope these people never need help from anyone. Had a reservation for a truck and trailer rental that I was supposed to pick up at 830am. I show up and there is a line out the door, only one person helping people out. Absolutely no communication as to why there is such a huge line, poor staffing, and lack of hustle. I dont know why on a busy saturday morning they only had one person staffing the front. Worst customer experience I had in over a year with any company. I arrived to pick up the truck using mobile pickup - only to find out that the reservation had changed without any notification to attended pickup - at a pickup time where the center was closed! Customer service was lame as well: - 20 mins waiting on the line and no one answers. - Online chat agent that almost didn't help at all - she cancelled the existing reservation, and said that someone will get back to me in 5-10 minutes to fulfil my original reservation and no one ever called / emailed / texted me ever since. This review is for their propane, which is the cheapest in the area (do as I did and call nearby gas stations to confirm). First, you can come empty-handed and purchase a 20lb tank from them. They have plenty in stock. To fill, walk straight to the propane pump adjacent the building and ring the bell. The attendant will come out to fill your tank and can charge you on the spot. From my experience, their meter is accurate, and I appreciate that prices are posted online (google uhaul propane). If you are truly price sensitive, the uhaul San Jose locations are even cheaper, but for me, the added commute negates any potential savings. Minus any wait, it'll take 5min for a fill-up. read more

I experienced unacceptabe "CUSTOMER SERVICE" at the Mountain View, Ca U-Haul on the El Camino Real. I was guity for releasing clean water from one of my tanks. To be fair I did not know it was "NOT ALLOWED" to discharge water and would have shut the valve immediately. Again I did not know and the water clean drinking water. SO MY APOLOGY regarding the water release. But what followed was a complete surprice and unnecessary. I was approached and verbally attacked by a U-Haul employee. He kept getting into my face lecurring me and verbally asaulting me This "Customer Service employee" of Virginia Martinez ( the general Manager) would not back-off and continued to get into my face. I finally said f'n back-off. This "f'n back-off" comment from me did nothing but enrage the "Customer Service employee". What happened next really shocked me, this Customer Service employee then lit up a cigarette with in 50 feet of the propane tank as he continued to yell at me. This Customer Service employee then yelled at his fellow employee to stop filling my RV propane tank. This employee then, in the front of a number of other customers told be to get off "his" lot. I approached him to discuss and he said "I'm not going to talk with you, get off my lot. " I shared with this "customer service" agent that I was going to talk to the General Manager Virginia Martinez. He laughed and taunted me again saying go ahead give her a call. Virginia Martinez called me after I called UHaul headquarters in Arizona and offered an apology. I have dealt with Virginia in the past and she has been "customer focused" when I dealt with her in the past. I shared with Virginia that her apology was gracious but was not sufficient regarding the relentless verbal assaut from her Customer service employee. This Customer Service agent proceeding to lit up a cigerette within the 50 feet safety perimeter. This dangerous act is something that not only endangerd me but also a number of other customers that were waiting to get their propane tanks filled. This was and is unacceptable . Virginia said that she would re-appoach her "customer service employee" once more, as I requested a direct apology from this employee. I will be happy to report a legitimate sincere apology from the employee and will then amend and share my response. read more

I rented a 15 foot truck at this location. Not only they jammed the parking with their vehicles so I couldnt have a parking space for my car , but also claimed that those vans were returned by customers and they didnt have keys . I had to park my car couple blocks away. Then I rented that truck for moving from my old place to new place. So the trip is : 62 west el camino real , mountainview, CA ( Uhaul store) to 2972 sunburst drive , san jose . Then from 2972 sunburst to 2020 southwest expy, san jose then back to 62 west mountain view , CA. Now you tell me, how come this trip racked up 77 miles? My foolishness is that I trusted this company, didnt take a picture of the mileage. Worst experience ever! They charged me $14 extra for so-called "SafeMove". I clearly remember I didn't select this option when drawing up contract but manager at facility added it into my final bill. U-Haul Customer support didn't want to help me with my problem. They promised to keep me updated with my case for refund. But I had to call them again and again. After countless calls to customer support they refused me with refund. $14 - It's not a big deal for me, but I don't like to be deceived. No apology for not calling only a promise manager would call to reschedule. No call. Called July 2, spoke to a U-Haul rep, they had no information about when the hitch would be delivered but would send a message to manager and they would call me on the same day. No call. Called U-Haul again July 8, no information, asked to cancel order, no apology for inconvenience but did cancel order and refund. I've had at least 2-hitches installed previously at this location. I ordered my truck online about four hours before I needed it, and it was ready to go even though I arrived an hour late. They had no problem with that. People complaining about gas not being full clearly don't understand the contract - you return it with the same amour of fuel as what you received it with. If you want it to be full immediately because you are going log distance, there is a gas station ACROSS THE ROAD. Their service was nothing special but I kept a sharp eye on them and they charged me exacty what I agreed to pay. Will use them again. The customer service is worth mentioning though - there's definitely nothing special about them. I noticed that my truck had half a mile more on it than what the contract said, so I asked them to update it. The staff were all in the back having a loud conversation, and they quickly brushed me off, assuring me that they round the miles down. When I returned the truck, they asked me for a mile more than I actually did because they didn't round down, which annoys me. read more

I dealt with 4 people yesterday from their office, two when I picked up the truck and two when I returned it. They were all nice. - One recommended a hand truck for the job since the truck I rented didn't have a ramp (my mistake in picking the truck size) and I was moving a large item. - Another corrected the starting gas level after I took a pic and showed them (you have to upload the pic when you do the pickup). - At dropoff, I forgot some foam in the back and he told me and let me throw it away in their dumpster so I don't get charged a cleaning fee. - A woman on the phone confirmed my truck was there and ready when I called ahead to ask. I was glad they answered the phone even though it was the first Saturday of the month and they were probably very busy. - Overall good experience- quick in and out. - The cab had strong a/c and a radio. - The windows and mirrors are spotless. They clean them between uses. - And they air hose out the backs of the trucks so there is no dust or debris when you pick up. - Note: There are only seats for two people (one passenger) in a 10 ft truck. - The cost to go 40 miles round trip was $115 total to uhaul ($20 rental fee plus mileage fee and other fees and a $7 furniture dolly), and I paid $30 in gas at a gas station. read more
