I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Extra Space Storage facility and feel compelled to share my concerns. Last year, in August 2024, I rented a 10x10 storage unit for $124.20. By the end of my lease, just over a year later, my bill had increased to $236.20. It is unacceptable that the rent for my unit was raised every 2-4 months, under the justification that your rates were "matching current market rates" -- a claim I believe to be inaccurate. In comparison, locally owned storage facilities typically adjust rates annually or every other year, not multiple times within a single year. Additionally, upon moving out, I discovered that the walls of my unit were marked as 9x10. I signed a contract for a 10x10 unit, and I believe I am owed a refund or adjustment if the unit I rented was indeed smaller than advertised. Between the continuous, frequent rate increases and the inaccurate unit measurements, I am extremely dissatisfied. I intend to report this matter to the Better Business Bureau and seek clarification regarding any refund or adjustment owed. Given the issues I experienced, I consider my time with this storage facility a regrettable use of a year, and I will not be returning as a customer ever. read more

ROBBERY.... If you think your stuff is safe at any Extra Space Storage BEWARE. Our son was robbed at a extra space storage 2 weeks before,my unit was robbed in Temecula. I received a call from Sasha, to let me know my unit (inside) had been broken into and that they drug my safe out into the hallway and cut it apart. NO ONE HEARD OR SAW ANYTHING. NO SECURITY. After we met with the detectives, we came to find out this is not the first time this storage facility has been hit. Hint NO SECURITY!!! The day after the robbery, I received a call from Tricia (manager) to tell me that my payment needed to be paid and that they had a rate increase and she would be KIND ENOUGH TO WAIVE THAT FEE. How generous!!! Is this a coincidence or an INSIDE JOB??? I spoke to the District Manager Michael and he had the same attitude, NOT EXTRA SPACE STORAGE'S PROBLEM. I have a had a very positive experience at this location. Trish at the Temecula Rancho Pueblo location is by far the BEST management I've dealt with. Her customer service is wonderful. I've been here a long time and have seen this place go through a lot of changes. I've also dealt with other storage companies in the area as well. The storage unit itself is fine, nothing special. Except it was infested with ants when I moved in. My issue is with them raising the price dramatically after about 3 months. Went up by $80 a month with no explanation, from $220 to $310. I would move out, but I moved across country on military orders for a while, so it is extremely difficult to get back there just to move storage units. What a pain. And looking at consumer affairs reviews this appears to be a common practice for them. I will be moving out as soon as I can. read more

I've rented storage units from Extra Space Storage in Lake Elsinore & Temecula under the same management. The manager is super helpful & very efficient!!! He will help you determine what size unit you need. Takes maybe 10-15 minutes to sign paperwork & then you can move in immediately. Place is always so clean AND very secure. Just this past weekend I was moving out & realized I didn't have enough room at my house for all my stuff. So the manager went zoom zoom zoom onto his computer & found me another unit half the size just like that! I signed the paperwork in a snap & moved rest of stuff into a 5X5. DO NOT STORE ANYTHING HERE! There has been multiple break-ins and the place is not secure. The quality of the cameras is pathetic and some are missing. They will not tell you any of this when you rent a space or even after you are in. We have had two spaces broken into to the tune of 15K. There are also many other people who have had the same issue. Worst experience with a storage rental place ever. Raised our rent after six months after telling us it was for a year. Also placed a lien with an $85 fee on our unit and set it to auction after we were 32 days late because they deleted our credit card off our auto debit. But would not admit fault to deleting the card off of our account. Would never recommend this business to anyone, horrible customer service. read more

I have a 10x15 storage space that I was already paying an astronomical amount of $300 per month. I then received a rate increase to $389(+25%) without a single notice. When I call in the staff member tells me it was sent out, but I disagree. He tells me he has to put in a message to his area manager to see what they can do, but no timeline of when I can expect an answer. Then he goes on a tangent of whether or not I've been watching the news and 60 minutes with the containers stuck at sea??? What does mass distribution across seas have to do with 10x15 storage units? If all those persons are screwed, we must continue to add on top of that? Thank you for your economics lesson, but working at this place will more than likely be his largest achievement in life. Tried to upgrade to a larger unit they would mot budge on price, i got in at a lower price originally and now they basically want to charge double to get another 50 sq feet. Major safety issue is yard lighting does not work on back units, there is no back up lighting. Was suppose to be fixed in January, huge lie, told it will not be fixed until august at the soonest. Do hope extra space has retained good legal council in the interim. Next call city code enforcement. read more

The experience I had with place was HORRIBLE ! They over charged me with auto pay and told me the payment would reverse . It never did ! It took 3 weeks to finally get it resolved. But I was not pleased with the outcome . I was told they would refund my money but turned around credited next months rent . That's not what I wanted nor was it what I was told. I would not recommend anyone rent a Storage unit here. Our company rented a unit here to store company property and several of our valuable items were stolen. No sign of forced entry. Zach Foreman, the store manager said he wasn't able to access any relevant footage on their security cameras. I asked him for the Regional managers contact & he refused to give it to me. He gave me his name, Randy Gasper, but said they don't give his ph# because he'd be getting calls for meaningless incidents. As a result, we are taking our business elsewhere. I've had nothing but issues from the start. First, the most ridiculous has been forgetting to remove the lock on my unit. I went with movers that I was paying by the hour and to my surprise they never took off their lock! What an ordeal. Due to the office being closed, I called the 800 number and they guaranteed someone would call me back shortly. Waited and waited and nothing. I didn't get a call back until the next day. The movers were nice enough to come back the next day on their own while I was working. A chance I had to take. The management credited my account the first months rent and agreed to pay then fee I paid the movers to hold my items. Then to my surprise again they charged me the next month even though I can clearly see a credit on my account. I'm so furious. After all the issues and me having to fork out more money to my movers to hold my items I still haven't received anything back from Extraspace. I would now like my money back in hand and who knows when that will be. read more

Raised my rent twice (huge increase each time, cause we have two units) when my family sometimes doesn't even have enough to eat.
