For what I had to move they were the most reasonably priced. Lonnie and his helper for so professional. They arrived when they told me they would they got everything out in record time even helped fix a couple things at the house we were moving out of. I work in a position that requires every aspect of my job to be in place before the actual encounter date. I expected this company to be professionals and have everything in line before the moving date. In hindsight I see why the two moving companies I called before Garden State said they would send someone over a guy to do an estimate. The movers came and said nothing to me about not being packed correctly. I left for a moment and the foreman called Nicole and said I did not pack right. I'm no professional but I thought I did a great job. Nicole decided since I had three guys, (mind you the new guy was sick most of the move) and I did not pack right that she was raising the rate from $145 an hr. to $190 an hr. and taking away the 10% discount agreed upon in the contract. My bed is not properly put together, and I can't find screws for tv stands and other things, it's just a mess. I rely heavily on honest reviews, and I am happy that others seemed to have a good experience. Not me. BEWARE!!!

I had a very heavy 6ft bathroom vanity with a 1 in granite top that I needed moved to a 2nd floor…read morebathroom. The vanity had to be over 500#. Home Depot dropped it in my doorway and refused to bring it any further. I called Garden State movers on a Saturday to which a very friendly lady took all my info, explained everything I needed to know, gave me a price, and gave me the time that they were arriving within a hour. A half hour before they came I received a phone call telling me exactly when they would arrive. When the 2 gentlemen arrived they introduced they're selves with a hand shake, and they then scoped out the job first. I questioned them that there was only 2 of them, how would they be be able to lift the vanity even though they Both were pretty buff. They had the vanity and the top in the bathroom in matter of 10 minutes. They were both very careful watching that they didn't drop or bang the vanity. During the whole move, I was impressed that they verbally talked the move to each other while making the move. I would use Garden state again, and I would highly recommend 3

They arrived a little late due to truck problems but when they did arrive they worked efficiently. They wrapped and padded everything. The three guys were friendly and they were very organized. With my first move in 2020, there was a bit of a scheduling issue, causing the movers to arrive later than originally scheduled and with a van rather than a truck (I had been told that it would be a truck in order to fit all of my belongings into one trip). Therefore, it ended up taking two trips. However, the owner made things right by only charging me the original rate for one trip. Mistakes happen and I'm fine with it, as long as the company owns up to it and makes it right. And there were no similar issues with my second move in 2026. The guys had furniture wrap and blankets to protect my belongings. During both moves, I did not find anything that was damaged at all. What more can you ask for!? I highly recommend Man With a Van! In fact, I'm likely going to use them again soon to help with some items that I will need to move into storage.

The dispatcher Paul needs anger management lessons…read more My friend recently moved across town and ordered Man With A Van movers as they had good experiences with the company in the past. Man With A Van gave my friend two quotes: a cheaper quote for Two Guys with a Van and a more expensive quote for Three Guys with a Truck. My friend sent the more expensive rate for Three Guys with a Truck. But then this dispatcher tried the blame game of "You didn't specify Truck" when to our surprise only Two Guys and a Van showed up. Lemme ask you a question. If I offer you a hotdog for $3 and a burger for $4, and you hand me 4 dollars, wouldn't anyone with a working brainstem assume that meant YOU WANTED THE BURGER? But my friend was sweet and offered: "Maybe y'all can come back tomorrow with three guys and a truck, because it's really a three person job", to which the movers declined. After a quick call, the dispatcher said there'd be no additional charge for extra trips due to the smaller vehicle. What's more is that one of the two Movers had a bad back and couldn't take the stairs like the other dude. So at some points the job is only getting done by one dude (you could argue one-and-a-half dudes). If THREE guys should be able to make the move of loading and unloading in TWO hours, then HALF that much manpower means... you guessed it: it's gonna take at least twice as long! Not to mention they spent extra time stacking things like Jenga inside the van to make it all fit in one trip. Because the job (that my friend agreed to pay $500 for three guys and a truck) took so much longer with one and a half guys and a van, Paul upcharges an extra $300!! Again, my friend is nice, and they're trying to hash this out cause they didn't get what they paid for, regardless of it it took more time. (And again, of course less manpower means more time). But instead of having a conversation with my friend, Paul starts SCREAMING at them, cursing at them, saying "You're Full Of Sh*t!" and threatening legal action immediately! My friend is begging through tears that they want to make this right; begging him to STOP yelling and panicking them. The mover's felt so bad and embarrassed overhearing Paul act like a jack*ss on the phone that one even offered to pay the remainder, but my friend, still shook up and in tears, said that they wanted to make this right and moved what little money they have around to pay as much as they could. We're ALL struggling out here, and the movers def deserve to get paid. I'm sure the dude with the hurt back needs more money and easier hours, but the company is working him to the bone. But to have this dude Paul berate and coerce my friend, spitting venom over the phone? Shouting until my friend is begging in tears for him to stop? I'm never gonna forget that. And this company needs to make things right. The job took long because of Dispatch's mistakes. They sent 1.5 guys to do a 3 man job, without the agreed upon equipment no less. If you want a stress-free experience: steer clear. If you want some jerk from New York taking out his daddy issues on you: you've come to the right place.
