The road to get here is narrow but conveniently right next to the playground. There are a few picnic tables and often lots of grilling by families. The playground is next to the lake. And the lake has alot of ducks and turtles. We had fun feeding them with some bread we brought with us. Most of the playground area is padded which is nice. There are separate areas for swings, a small area for the sprinklers during hot days and plenty of benches to sit. Next to the playground is more flat, green areas. Perfect for picnics and hanging out.

The park itself was quite clean as well There also is a memorial to local Vietnam War vets which is always nice to see and it was well done.

Nice large playground with basketball court , handball court area , playground set up for the kiddies, and metal bars to do pullups , pushups , situps and whatever ups you want to do . It has been deemed a historic national site, as the initial carousel was built in 1903, only to be rebuilt in 1966 after a fire. It now sits in Woodhaven, Queens, restored to its former glory and awaiting children from all the borough and beyond. One wouldn't think the NY Carousel would be an underrated family activity given its history, but too many folks are unaware that it exists even now. The city has taken great steps to ensure its longevity and anyone looking for kid friendly activity or a little nostalgia has come to the right place. While it is a short ride in the natural beauty of the park, the surrounding space makes it an ideal getaway for families who want to book the space for gatherings of whatever kind. The Carousel itself is the main attraction of course, though there are other rides for kids that range from a train ride to a recently added mini ferris wheel dubbed the "Woodhaven Wheel." Ticket costs for the rides vary, but the last time I checked it was $35 for a 10-pack (i.e. $3.50 a ticket). While there are some small carnival games and story telling sessions, this is not a substitute for any major carnival / amusement park on a bigger scale in any way. Think of this as a place to kill a couple of hours with the young ones. I'd recommend bringing food in and avoiding their options (think hot dogs, small packs of chips, etc.) if at all possible. They've closed this section of the park for the rest of 2020, but I sense that in 2021 that they'll take great measures to ensure everything is safe for youngins / carefree adults to partake.

Weprin playground is a lovely, clean and well maintained playground. We spent a nice couple of hours here and had to peal my nephew off the slides when it was time to go home. There were quite a few benches in shaded areas to sit at while watching the kids play. There's also plenty of open space for scootering or biking. Also, they have a basketball court and handball courts for older kids. Alas, we don't live in the neighborhood otherwise we would be here more often.

It's a really picturesque and peaceful spot to clear your mind and/or touch some grass. It reminded me how lucky I am to have access to places like this. I'll definitely be back soon.
