I was finally able to go an eye doctor for a new prescription that was close to my work, which is out of town. Unfortunately I did not have time to choose frames and lenses. I now have a day off which falls on a weekend and most eyecare centers are closed. Bummer. Totally get that. It will be a while before I am able to go back to eye doctor due to my schedule. I thought about doing online ordering, but I need my PD(Pulilary Distance) measurement which I did not get. I then think oh..lenns Crafters is open weekends but it's 45 minutes away. Think... think..oh Walmart has a vision center and is open on a Saturday..great!! I walk in and ask if they perhaps accept my insurance.. they gladly responded with a yes. So after 5 minutes I found the frames I liked. I go back to old guy who greeted me. He tells me to have a seat and is about to to open computer screen when I say..I have my own prescription....he suddenly says....Oh I forgot your insurance is down(not them walmart) at the moment so we can't process that. I'm sorry. Soon as he realized they wouldn't get money from the eye exam he came up with that excuse. I could read he's body language as he had his arms crossed in displeasure. I am in retail/ customer service and have patience thanks to training and years of experience. Any other person would have flipped out on them for pulling this BS. To confirm my suspicion I called my insurance provider and said they are not down. They are up and running ready to give authorization for any requests. Come on Wal-Mart. I had also asked if he could do a Pulilary Distance Measurement, and said I'll pay for it..straight up said no..you have to go to the place you did your eye exam. I am very disappointed in your customer service. I do not recommend this place. Best go to a real and professional Eyecare facility. I wouldn't mind paying extra for that.

That in itself made me feel soooo much better! There are very few places you go to (especially an eye doctor) and are made to feel like you are being taken care by family. He even gave me his cell phone number in case my eye got worse and did not mind scheduling my follow up appointment on a Saturday while they were closed. I will rave about Dr. Moser forever! The receptionist and Dr. Yarborough were quite polite and professional during the time of the visit. The exam went fine. All in all, a reasonably good experience. Then I went to submit the prescription for lenses and frames and that is where everything started to unravel. Dr. Yarborough's office double charged me for my visit. Now after I discovered this I politely called their office and told them about the double charge. They emphatically denied that they had done this. They said "my bank and credit card issuer were the problem and it was their fault." I called the bank and sure enough they confirmed that I had been double charged. I called Dr. Yarborough's office and tried to explain it. The receptionist, on my call back, connected me to the Doctor and we spoke for approximately 10 minutes.... Dr. Yarborough was Rude to say the least, that they didn't double charge me. So they have refused to help reconcile the matter. They are very adamant they didn't charge me twice. Bottom line, I have been charged twice. I have the bank receipts to prove it. Even the Bank said that the office would have to rescind the second charge, the bank cannot. They refuse to help resolve this major problem. I can only say this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I would recommend you not do business with this establishment what-so-ever. They are one of the most 'Rapacious' businesses I have ever had the opportunity to do business with. I have taken actions to have the back rescind the charges. I will be leaving reviews on all platforms I can so other potential customers do not have such a bad experience. Dr. Yarborough you could at least taken the time to look into the matter with a serious effort instead of summarily dismissing my complaint. The associate was quite cordial with good advice for frames and a correct fitting, etc. My new glasses were ready in about a week. While driving that night, I noticed a problem with the glasses, as I was getting a prism from bright light sources, such as oncoming car headlights. On my next available day I went back and mentioned the problem. The associate gave the glasses a thorough cleaning as he thought some film may have not been removed properly. This did not correct the problem. On my next trip the associate ordered a new pair of glasses for me. They were delivered quickly and whatever caused the prism was corrected in the new pair. I was impressed with how professional the associate was and was confident that he would make sure this problem was correctied asap and to my total satisfaction.

Correcting my vision was one of them. I knew I wanted/needed LASIK but wasn't serious until this year. I shopped around a bit and scheduled several consultations. What stood out about Travers LASIK is that Dr. Lori Travers performs all of her surgeries herself and has completed over 60,000 surgeries. Impressive. I've learned that when it comes to health you should always choose a doctor who is an EXPERT at their field, and hyper focused on one thing, not dipping their hand at the pot with 5 different things. Her credentials along with her extremely well run office was the reason I chose Travers LASIK over the other options in the Triangle. To note however; Travers is a smidge more costly than the others but you are paying for precision and you're paying for her 20+ years of experience, which is well worth its weight in gold imo. After the surgery, I came out with 20/15 vision, which is better than 20/20 vision. Here was my experience and here are the things I learned. Yes, you do spend a lot of time at the free LASIK consultations and the surgery day itself, as they need to perform tests and take pictures of your eyes with many different devices and expect to see A LOT of people at every appointment. Yes, it does feel like an assembly line / factory but honestly, I was okay with that. I wasn't there to socialize nor did I feel the need to chit chat beyond what I was there for. Everyone was professional, kind and very knowledgeable. I barely spoke to Dr. Travers, the majority of the time I spent talking with her team from one test to another. I only met Dr. Travers in the surgery room and she asked if I had any questions and explained mono vision to me (although I ended up going with distance vision) and I was in and out of the surgery room within less than 10 minutes, as advertised. The actual procedure: If you can't sit still and focus, LASIK might not be for you. (I learned that people with diabetes and/or hormonal changes, pregnant, etc.. shouldn't also have LASIK either) Recovery: from all the reading and research and asking people about LASIK, no one really talks about the recovery. People usually rave about the results which while are impressive, it's important to know what to expect also. After the surgery, you are sent away with plastic shields taped to your face to protect your eyes (and prevent you from touching them) and are directed to sleep when you get home. I couldn't sleep for 6 hours as they suggest, and probably slept for about 3. Your eyes feel very tired and your eyelids feel glued due to the stickiness and crust forming in your eyes. It's annoying to not be able to clean your eyes due to the shields that can't be taken off until the very next morning. You just have to deal with it. The next morning, you take off the shields and your new life begins, you should be able to see very clearly, it's remarkable! One thing to note also is that after age 40, they made it very clear that you might have to use readers (reading glasses) as LASIK is unable to correct near vision, which is natural -- and inevitable with age. I am now 1 week post surgery and am doing excellent. I can see far away and feel like a new person just about. I do still wear (blue light) glasses to reduces eye strain while on the computer which is fine by me, I just love having vision for distance that isn't dependent on glasses. I use eyedrops on my eyes extremely often however, because I want the healing of my cornea's to go as smooth as possible. I expect to taper off in about 3 or 6 months, as needed. Two week update: while I can generally see well, sometimes things far away that I'd expect to be able to read, are blurry. I've read this is normal until the eye completely heals. Also, nighttime driving isn't superb, and things are not as crisp either. I am hoping over the next month that will sort itself out also and that I can see more clearly also. If you're considering or on the fence, go for a free consultation.. you'll learn a lot about your eyes! And hopefully you're a candidate, and hopefully you'll take the leap of faith! Disclaimer: as with any surgery, there are always risks and sometimes short term, and occasional long term side effects. Dry eyes, halos, starbursts, non-crisp night vision, etc. I personally understood all the risks and went with it. But be sure to talk it all through thoroughly with your doctor so you know what you're signing up for. Good luck!

I never dreamed I'd come out of it never needing a pair of glasses and two pairs of contacts per year again - ever! The surgery was quick and painless. Dr, Travers talked me through it and kept me calm and concentrating. I got up and could read the clock and posters across the room! Two weeks later I had the Corrective Lenses requirement removed from my driver's license! The difference, 17 years later, never ceases to amaze me. Anyway, I had my own designer frames that I bought online and brought them in with me to have lenses made. I really wanted these done quickly, and since my prescription was about to expire, I made a quick appointment for a vision exam elsewhere that weekend and faxed the new script on Monday. I confirmed they received it and they said they could put a rush on my order. I was going out of town on May 7 and I really wanted to have them by then. It was apparently no problem, they said they'd be ready Friday the 1st. So when I called Friday, they weren't ready because when I added the anti-reflective coating, that adds another 2-3 days (which no one told me). I was about to tell them to nevermind with the coating but I thought, it's OK, I still have plenty of time to get them by the 7th. So, today (may 5) they were supposed to be ready, and I called and was informed that the lab messed up one of the lenses and now has to re-do it. So it would be another week at least. So, now there's no way I will have them for my trip this weekend. I spent over $500 on these glasses - frames online, lenses here, eye exam on a weekend just so I could get it done faster -- all for nothing. I should have just taken my prescription by hand to the LensCrafters and had it done in one day (and my insurance would have covered a huge piece of it). Never again. The doctors they are affiliated with - Raleigh Ophthalmology -- are great, I recommend them highly, but just get your glasses somewhere else. Right now I'm just hoping that they're not totally screwed up when I finally ever get them. They were my dream frames and I have zero expectations now. UPDATE: Got the glasses, and the actual quality is great. Exactly what they were supposed to be. Bumping this up to two stars.
