i really like this place. set a appointment with Nicole to come in for a eye exam with my partner. She was really great over the phone and even asked our pronouns (which is very rare for most places in the Bronx). My partner & I have really intense schedules & she was willing to get us in as soon as possible. the place was pretty busy on a Thursday early afternoon but all the workers were really nice. the exam was really easy and my partner and I had a great time picking out frames with Jenny. Stay a way. Pure incompetence. Have you ever taken a frame with you to be filled? Imagine being called back to pick up your glasses and take the lenses with you because the incompetence lab could do it on my frames. To make matters worse, the manager Rosie tells me to bring another pair of glasses. True story. Have you ever heard of such a thing. Not to mention, they forgot to order a trial contacts for me. It's now, 7.16.26. I visited 7.3 26 and have to wait up to 10 days for something that should have been ordered two weeks ago. I have been going to this facility for over 20 years, Dr Vilinsky, GREAT! However, the staff and communication is lacking. I have tried calling for over a year to make an appt and I get put on hold for 45 mins. And they never come back to the call, other times I get voicemail which is full or when it allows me to leave a message NO ONE returns the calls. I happen to be on jury duty 5/2025 and was finally able to make an appt for 6/2025 by walking over to the facility on my break and addressed the concerns and all that was done -the blame game- from the answering service fault (??) To only one girl knows how to work the answering machine and "new" management coming soon, whatever that means. Thereafter, I received a phone call that my appt had to be rescheduled for 3 weeks since doctor had an accident, understood, rescheduled to 7/2025 three days prior to new appt another phone call to reschedule to end of August since no doctors available on a Saturday and Dr. Still out. Moral to the story, had customer service been up to par from the beginning NONE of this would have been the case now. I have spent alot of money here for myself and my son and because of the lack of communication, have had to move my business elsewhere where they can at least pick up the phone. My apologies to Dr. Vilinsky and I thank you for all the service and care you provided. read more

Follow up.. These people are the absolute worst. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Part two of eye glass service from hell. On Feb 8th, someone called me to tell me that my eyeglasses were ready for pick up. Remember, I placed the order on Dec 24. Insurance approved them on Dec 26. In the store, I asked the person who took the order, if they would be sent to me (without shipping charges), if it takes more than a week to fill the prescription. I was told yes. I am on a military deployment. I can't go in to pick them up. Each and every time I've been able to speak to someone on the phone (three times), I have to repeat the same thing. They act like they don't remember anything. When you call them, they don't check voicemail or email. NOW they want me to pay the shipping fee. Absolute nonsense. Had they done what they were supposed to do back in January, I or someone else could have picked them up for me. THIS is WHY I asked if they would ship them to me, no fees added. Not gonna happen. They can keep the eyeglasses. I will contact my insurance company to tell them of the shoddy service. Absolutely ridiculous. I am absolutely livid. I hope people read this review and take it seriously. read more

The doctor here is nice and professional. But unfortunately his staff is not. I've gotten three pairs of glasses from this establish mentioned in the last six years. In each time I very ever stepped foot in this establishment are rude. It is definitely a pattern here. They seem to get inpatient fairly quick and that turns into them either one rushing you or given you half answers. PROS: the doctor is awesome Cons: unprofessional staff and the glasses are quite pricey. There are no set prices here I often feel as though they literally make up prices as they go based on what they think you can afford. read more

Even though I was late for my appointment on Wednesday they attended me within 5 minuets and I absolutely love the staff and their honesty. I was trying on a few different pairs of glasses and thought they looked okay, but the associate Ashely narrowed it down to the one I actually liked at a reasonable price. She asked the other two guys that worked there for their opinions, and they both complemented me and made me feel comfortable, because I don't really like wearing glasses. This establishment doesn't pay attention to or honor ZocDoc online appointments. They didn't confirm my initial appointment then told me it was at least at 45 minute wait once I got there. Came here for new glasses before reading thr reviews. I've since read the reviews of this place dating about a couple months to a couple of years. Any of the previous issues reported I never experienced when I went 3 weeks ago. The staff were friendly and attentive as they could be as the place was extremely busy when I called in, it did take quite of while waiting to be seen. But that didn't really surprised me as they run a no appointment needed business. The lady helping me pick my glasses was very nice and extremely helpful with her advise and patience allowing me to trying on MANY different frames before I made my selection... My advise if ur considering going here for your optical needs give yourself plenty of time don't expect to run in and run out. I had never owned eyeglasses before so I didn't know what to expect. This is the closest place to me so I figured I would try them. I actually came here for 3 different eyeglasses over a two year period. They were ok when I was buying glasses from them. They did they best to upset me though. I just wanted cheap, practical frames and they kept showing me expensive designer eyewear. So a year goes by and my glasses are ok, did the job. One day the frame cracks and I bring it in to be fixed. The girl says that they could fix it. It will take 10 - 15 minutes. I wait and they come back 15 minutes later with glasses that have been glued where the frame was broken and not even a tight seal, I can actually see a space where it was cracked and can see the caked on glue. It didn't look very professional to me but what do I know. I thought to myself, well if there just going to do a half assed job and glue it, I should have done it myself. A few months goes by and I'm out on the road and it cracks again, in the same spot. I bring to a local place in Jersey where I'm working at that day and him and his staff start laughing. They tell me that they will fix it professionally for $25 and that when my glasses break in the future, I should go to an eyeglass store and not try and fix it myself. I told them the story of the place in the Bronx and they couldn't believe that an eyeglass store did the repair and then he fixed it with a glue gun and he filed the caked on glue off. In the end it looked like a professional job and all he charged was $25.00. He said it should hold for ever as long I don't step on it or sit on it. That was 6 months ago and it has been fine. But you know something, this other store I went to was 100x more professional that Eye Express, they had no problem finding my insurance policy (it wasn't covered) and at Eye Express I had to come back a 2nd time because they couldn't find my insurance. From now on I go to a place that is professional. I meant to post this review a few months back but only just got around to it. This place isn't horrible but their customer service skills and knowledge and desire to please their customers is pretty bad. I would have happily left it with them for a few days and happy to pay $25 for a decent job. Stay away from Eye Express if you have options, there are better eyeglass stores out there. read more

Eye Express is probably the best Optical I've been too. The staff was very nice, patient with me and super helpful in choosing glasses that were trendy but also fit my face well. The staff - including the doctor of course - is very knowledgeable in the field of eye care. They truly care about helping customers see well and get the right glasses/contacts at the right price. I had really great experience here! I broke my glasses and had to get them replaced ASAP. I came in and was seen almost immediately -- Alexa helped me pick out new frames to put my old lenses into so I could leave with a pair of glasses that day, and also set up a new appointment so I could get new ones within a few weeks. read more

I decided to check this place out since it was near my job. WORSE MISTAKE EVER! The staff there is unprofessional including the doctor. I went in there to get an eye exam done for a job and I was informed that my vision was 20/150. I decided to go to an actual ophthalmologist and was informed that my vision was actually 20/50. I have been coming to this establishment since I was nine and now I am twenty three. The glasses are a bit pricey, but I love the contacts package I usually get four boxes, 12 monthly pair, which is a year worth of contacts. At times the staff can be a bit disorganized, rude, and even though I come to their establishment they act as if they still don't know me. The doctor is amazing though and the prices on the contacts, which I wear more often then my glasses are the reasons why I continue to come back. They get 2 stars because of their somewhat good selection. Other than that their prices are way too high and they try to get you to pay for things that you don't need (like almost every other optical). Why does everything have to be triple the price of the same exact things you can get online? Make a profit but dont kill the customer. By the way I was a long time customer and kept going because of Jackie who was always great until Dr. Vilinsky told me I had to come in so that he could see if I knew how to put in my contacts correctly (which I was already getting charged three times the price they cost online for). Mind you I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years. These kind of things is why optical locations are going out of business. A word of advice to eye express. Make a profit but don't kill your customers with ridiculous margins or you won't be open for long. And to the consumers... 1. Get your eye exams done 2. Get your prescription 3. Get your PD measurement (pupillary distance). Which they most likely will refuse to give you even though your paying for it. 4. And take that somewhere where you can save your money. Example...a cheaper optical or online. Somewhere like frames direct or contact lense king. (Google it). 5. Take all the money you saved and do whatever you want with it. The three biggest ripoffs to consumers are Eyewear, furniture, and mattresses. But if you're a smart and educated consumer you can do well. The last time i went here they couldn't find my chart. then i had to wait for the lady to keep greating her family members because they just kept coming in. So recently was asked by the new managent I go back and try them again. 11/15/14- My wife decided to take my daughter here, the cost was $600 for frames, lenses that include progressives, high index, uv, and transitions. Also providing extra glasses without the features of the others for home use. I do believe they warrant a better review so I am raising my rating and will try them myself next time. 12/6/14- glasses for my daughter were well done. Got high index on second pair too. Excellent value and worth trying out. 4/23/16- Well went back and the "new manager" was no longer there and neither were the great prices. My wife took my daughter and for glasses and a spare was more than $700. My wife wanted a lesser price without the spare and they wouldn'nt give it, enough said. read more

Awful experience today. Called to see if the doctor was in because he wasn't in the day before. Spent cab money with my mother who has bad knees and get to the location less then an hour after calling. Told from a rude worker that it's a 3 hour wait. Short, stocky older lady with caramel complexion and black hair. I did not get her name. I explained that I called earlier but she just explained that I had to wait in a sharper tone and interrupted my explaination rudely. We go to get a prescription filled at CVS. I walk back alone to see if I can get a future appointment so this doesn't happen again. I was told by the same woman that they don't have appointments, now in a sharper tone because I interrupted her personal cell phone time. I explained that we spent cab money just to come here after calling ahead and wanted to see if there was another resolution that would be reached. I was told nothing could be done. 2 eye exams with contact lenses and glasses lost, and now need to search for a different place to go after coming here a few times. The next place we go will have a better understanding on how to take care of people I am sure. read more

I've been reading the reviews and I must say it makes me question the validity of some of these comments. I've been going here for two years now and I have found the doctor to be very up to date with scientific research and technological developments. He pays attention to detail. He spends adequate time with patients and never rushes through the exam. I always walk away from this place feeling like the doctor and the girls in the front really genuinely cared and wanted to help. They are so customer driven and they make you feel like they've known you their whole life. Like family. Such a warm and awesome experience. They are just always so flexible and polite and honest and compassionate and they listen. I mean they reaaaaaally listen. They really get to know their customers. They go the extra mile and they are excellent when it comes to following up. The personalization and the attentiveness is a delight. Not to mention I always get a great deal on my glasses. I even had a pair of glasses specially ordered all the way from Italy and they arrived so much sooner than I had anticipated. This facility is always kept clean. I always send my coworkers and family and friends to eye express and they always come back with great feed back. What always keeps me coming back is the trust that I will always get a smooth barrier-less experience. They keep their customers informed and above all happy! read more

It is 9-8-2018. Today, I went in w/o an appointment. I have insurance, that included optical. However, I wasn't sure of just what it covered. I wasn't even finished signing in, when a lady approached and asked how she could help, what it was that I needed. She took my insurance card, and was able to tell me exactly what coverage I had. In about 5min, she gave me that information. WHEW, that was easy! I decided to browse the frames available; designer, and Union/insurance options. As I was doing so, another lady asked if I wanted to see/try on frames. I had asked how the frames were categorized, and she told me clearly. A selection of designer frames, and those possibly 100% covered by the insurance I have. To anyone that that thinks, that ppl are NOT in business to make money, up sell, or offer an upgrade in products, wake up. I'm so glad they did. But even from the beginning, I was told that if I liked something designer, they would show me a comparable "union/insurance" frame, if available. (Of which I felt was a rather generous selection, to be "free" of additional charge.) She was very patient, allowing me to try many frames. She was needed elsewhere for a moment, but immediately asked another lady to step in. Both were so patient! I am terribly indecisive, they were tireless! I was called before I had made a selection. I saw a lady that did a series of initial tests, and gathered my information. Not long after, I saw the Dr., polite, patient, professional! Afterwards, I wanted him to know that aside from (outdated) reviews, I was exceedingly pleased with the interaction from every member of staff I came in contact with. Which was about 7 in total. When I had shared that, he was thankful. And mentioned that a couple ppl were let go about a year ago, relative to customer interaction. Please understand, any negative reviews prior to this. Are no longer valid, in regards to the current staffing. Yes, I am a real customer! As well, please understand, that how a potential customer decides to conduct themselves, may well indeed have an effect on how they feel there experience was. If you aren't satisfied with the selection, go elsewhere, don't publicly complain. And if in FACT you're insurance doesn't cover what you want, find a location that does. Publicly complaining about a business, that has NOTHING to do with your insurance coverage. Is nothing more than displaying a (negative) aspect of YOUR own character. I am a firm believer that that each of us holds the majority of responsibility as to how our day/life plays out. We have the option, & opportunity, to be a positive member of society. The two i had the privilege to deal with were dreading their job. One was on the phone, while the one that did do work was completely rude and full of attitude. I would not recommend this place, however if you are in need of glasses and this is the closest place to you, go ahead. If I could give no stars I would. I've been coming here for a few years now, and so has my family. Back in February I received my pair of glasses covered by my insurance at the same time I also asked for the prescription to be emailed to me. I received both both but a few weeks ago I loose my glasses. I initially call them to see if they can be replaced, but they insist on me going down to "double check" all while knowingly that my insurance did not cover a replacement in order to up-sell me on something. When I get there the lady pulls up my file, and I notice a discrepancy on the hand written prescription, and the one I was emailed in Feb. BOTH WERE DIFFERENT!!!. She was extremely ready to charge me for a new pair of glasses, but she didn't even acknowledge the fact that they had messed up, and there were two different prescriptions written down for me which leaves me to wonder which one is the real one. That right there has to be the most unprofessional careless mistake ever. These people only care about selling. DO NOT TRUST THEM with your eyes, or anyone else's that you love, and care about. read more

My son also went in person on my behalf and the employee did not try to help him with the question that he was trying to ask. The doctor and the older lady administrator are professional. The heavy set dark skinned Latino sales rep is ok. The two young ladies gotta go they do not know how to speak to people . They are rude condescending and ignorant . You can tell that really love working there. They love the Bronx. They are from a place where they think that everyone in the Bronx is ghetto and loud and rude and ignorant when I fact they should embrace the fact that they get this experience in life but they don't get it . They are spoiled brats that work in this business and have the attitude like they are doing charity or they are giving away anything . They need lessons in life. If you don't like the people of the Bronx stay in Long Island . Don't come here and take money from hard working people . I have come to this place for years but I will never come back because of the treatment I received from them. I spent over 400 dollars to have these girls talk to me like I owe them something and talk to me a condescending tone . They did not filled their promise to have my eyeglasses in a week. They are overpriced and have lowered their standard of customer service by having these two obviously relatives of the doctor or family friends work there .
