My family and I have been patients here for 5 years and honestly this is the best optometry office. The office is very clean, modern, and high tech. They have different machines for different eye care purposes, and I love that none of the machines shoots air into my eyes like my office in the past. They have a wide selection of frames for men, women, and kids. Dr. Cindy is such an amazing doctor. She truly cares about her patients and their vision health. She takes time to explain in detail about my eye condition and let me try different kinds of contact lenses that best suit my prescription and comfort. Dr. Cindy also offers RGP contact lenses to correct vision for eligible patients, which I find very cool and helpful. The staffs here are also very nice and welcoming. Rhonda is so awesome. She assists me every time I come and ensures I leave the office satisfied, which I really appreciate! Linh and Sarah are usually the ones that help my parents as they speak Vietnamese fluently. They are super patient with helping my parents choosing a frame that looks best on them and explaining lens options thoroughly. I've been going to Eye Focus Optometry for many years and decided to take my mom for her first time at the office and she absolutely loves it. I asked her why she likes the place and she explains "the office is bright, inviting, clean, and has a lot of variety of glasses available". She also explained that the staff was sweet and welcoming, but most of all she couldn't stop raving about Dr. Cindy in which she explain was so kind, patient, and is an expertise about eye education. My mom told me no one ever sat her down and gave her a thorough eye examination since her other office experience felt so rushed that she felt so uncomfortable, but not Dr Cindy whom made you feel not like a patient but a family member that cares about your well being. We recently picked up the glasses which were ready in two weeks from the office and my mom loves her glasses more than her previous eye glasses at other offices. It is disappointing for me to write this review. After many years as dedicated patients and receiving care from a truly wonderful doctor, my family and I have decided it is time for us to move on. Unfortunately, our recent experience with one of the front office staff members was marked by unfriendly and unprofessional customer service. Honestly, I had such a great experience with Dr. Cindy and her team. From the moment I walked in, the staff was super friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Cindy herself is so kind and easy to talk to--she really took her time explaining the whole exam and answered all my questions without rushing anything. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients. One thing that really stood out to me was how on time everything was. I was actually taken in right at my appointment time, Dr. Cindy sees one patient at a time, and it makes a huge difference. I used to go to a different place where even with an appointment, I'd be stuck in the waiting room for 45 minutes because the doctor was juggling a bunch of people at once. This was a totally different and way better experience. The whole office just has a great vibe and very clean. I continue to be deeply impressed with Eye Focus Optometry's patient care. Over the years, I've been coming for routine exams and glasses with good experience, as I reviewed before. Recently, I had something going on with one eye that had me concerned. Within an hour of my call they had me in to see if it was something serious. While there was nothing to be concerned about, the doctor provided a detailed explanation of what I was experiencing, discussed the biomechanics that caused it and advised what I should look out for in the future. The staff here at Eye Focus Optometry is amazing. Even though things are limited right now during Covid, they are always there to help. The people I interacted with were Rhonda (receptionist), Michelle (assistant), & Dr. Cindy Nguyen. Everyone was wearing masks and they had hand sanitizer for me to use if I need to. Michelle is very kind and thorough with the initial examination of my eyes. She explained what she was doing, taking pictures of my eyes so that Dr. Cindy Nguyen later would be able to determine if something was wrong. She made sure to clean the apparatus before and after I used it. When I went inside with Dr. Cindy Nguyen, she thoroughly explained everything that was related to my eye. This was a follow-up visit for me, so she informed me that one of my eyes was getting a little bit worse (from -1.75 to -2), but my other eye was the same (-2). However, my eyes were otherwise healthy and she informed me that the decrease in my eye could be due to strain from staring at a computer (since I was a student after all). I did not have many questions to ask of her, since Dr. Cindy Nguyen already explained everything to me. I did need a new pair of glasses, so she directed me to Rhonda for assistance with that. I felt a little bad working with Rhonda, because I had to try on so many different frames just to fit my head. Rhonda was so patient and kind with me. Helping me with the frames and giving her opinion on whether it would work for my face or not. Eventually, I was able to find a frame that I would comfortably wear while also fit my face. Overall, this office and staff is amazing to work with. All of them want to get to know you more as a person than as a patient. The vibe here is generally quiet and peaceful unless the office is bustling with people wrapping up their eye exams or picking out their frames. I first learned about Dr. Cindy Nguyen when I started dating my husband, and now we go here for joint appointments! Her patient care is in great contrast to the recent offices I've gone to. Dr. Cindy Nguyen's office is a breath of fresh air. The staff are open, friendly and professional. When struggling to pass my contact lens training, her staff were very encouraging and positive - apt to give me pearls of wisdom to better apply the contact lenses. It was through the people in this office that I was able to finally wear contact lenses for the first time and to be able to wear them confidently on my wedding day! I also appreciate that the staff are personable when helping you choose your eyeglass frames. They are patient and thorough while answering my questions about the plethora of options there are for ordering frames. I also enjoy the options they have for frames! Dr. Cindy Nguyen is one of the most warm and personable optometrists I have ever met. She is thorough in explaining what she finds during my eye exam; she takes a personal interest in who I am; and exudes the air of a knowledgeable and trustworthy optometrist. I have especially strong reflexes, and it is always a struggle for me to do my annual eye exams (a necessary evil), but Dr. Cindy Nguyen's exam and clinical instruments feel modern and easy to tolerate. That puff-of-air test that I hate so much, yeah she doesn't do that. I feel like if I had her as my first optometrist, I would have a more positive feeling about the profession, but I'm happy to have established my care with her in the present time! Had a sour experience turn out amazing! Long story short, my mother in law came in to get frames last week and walked away with a subpar selection due to her vision insurance. However, at the time it wasn't clear on the actual reasoning. As the son in law trying to help in the matter, I came back to investigate further. I must say I was going a bit "Karen" on the staff and was a bit aggressive. (so sorry). But after speaking with Lin and Dr. Nguyen they were able to clearly explain the situation. After much deliberation Lin and Dr. Nguyen went above and beyond for myself and my mother in law. As an individual who's worked in customer service before I can attest that true service is demonstrated through the 'difficult' times. With this I applaud Lin, Dr. Nguyen and the entire staff for making the sour experience sweet. It's very evident that this optometry office goes above and beyond for their clientele. It seems like just a business to make money. The doctor doesn't even check the patient's eyes properly. She spent less than 5 minutes on my daughter & the prescription was incorrect. Then she tried a new prescription which works but we have been waiting to get the lenses for more than a month, we paid already. To pick up the trial lenses an appointment is required. I asked them to tighten a frame so that my daughter can wear those glasses for the time being and they denied. I won't recommend anyone to go there. read more

I made my appointment with Dr Diep of Eyesite Optometry. She reminded me that she had sold her business and the prescription would be handled be Eye Focus Optometry. When I was fitted for my glasses I asked the person who was attending to me to make sure my prescription was for distance/computer. I asked her twice and said she would. When I checked my prescription later I could see that it was for distance/reading, not distance/computer. I text them about it and they did not respond. Nine weeks later, I finally get my glasses and they are not what I asked for. I will not be coming back here and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I was long over due for an eye exam and Eye Focus Optometry really took care of me. They do work with Medi-Cal patients and it was a super easy process. Call to make an appointment or go online to schedule your appointment, bring your ID (drivers license or passport) as well as your insurance card, then fill out your new patients forms. Technically, I believe they want you to fill out your new patient forms online before you arrive to your appointment just to save some time. Medi-Cal covers only 1 eye exam every 24 months (2 years) but if you feel as though your eyes have gotten worse, they can perform your eye exam and if they have gotten worse then they can bill the costs to medi-cal BUT if it has NOT gotten worse then you will be responsible for the cost of the eye exam which I believe is around $80-$100. (I can't remember the exact cost but feel free to ask the medical assistants) The medical assistants performed a few simple tests on my eye before I was able to see Dr. Nguyen. Once in the exam room with Dr. Nguyen it was a basic eye exam from there. She was so sweet and so easy to talk to. She answered all of my questions and really made me feel informed about the process. I got really lucky finding a good optometrist the moment I moved to San Jose. Once the eye exam was done, Dr. Nguyen informed me about my new eye prescription and took me back to the front of the office to pick out a pair of eye glasses. The medical assistants quickly stepped in to help me look for a pair and let me know that it can take 1-4 months for my new pair of glasses to come in. (Yes, 4 months sounds really long but this is the insurance/medi-cal system so just be patient) I look forward to working eye focus optometry again in the future. read more

Really appreciative of Dr Cindy Nguyen's professionalism and expertise in her field. We brought our 2 year old son to her after being dissatisfied with Kaiser's eye care for him. She went above and beyond answering all our questions that Kaiser couldn't, and spent way much more time than optometrists at Kaiser ever did to help our child. They told me I could not get a lasik consultation without going thru them. They said they had to do measurements first before I can go see a lasik doctor. That's a lie btw. They just want their referral fee. Also, I called them and asked them to send me my prescription and they forgot to do it. They never sent it to me. I guess they forgot. I went to a different an optometrist in Oakland, and got new frames since they were hurting my eyes now after some week of use. Turned out i didn't need extra prescription and just needed blue light glasses. Thanks Eye Focus for causing more eye strain.... (PS. to Amanda T to saying my glasses are fake, are you saying that this place sells fake frames? Or just read the review again because I said that the office asked me to pay an additional 200$ when they said I never paid for the first blue light add on). Also, to the response of the doctor, How does an extra office visit help compensate the back and forth visits? Its's like fighting fire with fire. Hello All, I am updating my review. After posting my initial review I received an email from the owner Dr. Cindy Nguyen. She was very apologetic and took the time to explain what happened and the challenges they were having during the pandemic. It was hard to get the materials and the service was real slow. I explained my frustration with the communication, she listened and told me she would address my concern. I gave Eye Focus Optometry another chance and Dr. Nguyen and her staff made everything right. We reordered my glasses and although the timeline to get them was a bit longer then expected, her staff kept me up to date via a call or text. The main reason for the extended time was due to imperfection in the workmanship. The lens may have had a hairline scratch and it did not pass their inspection. I did appreciate that they were focusing on quality. When I came back to the store to pick up my glasses, Dr. Nguyen came out to talk to me and asked me if the communication improved. She made me feel like a valued customer! Next year when I'm due for a new pair of glasses, I do plan on returning to Eye Focus Optometry. Dr. Cindy is the best! I live in LA now but still fly up to see her because I don't trust anyone else, and I've converted my mom and sister too. Prior to Dr. Cindy, I had been going to a spot that my mom had taken me to as a kid. My vision was never really clear and they never addressed me about my eye issues such as high pressure or high astigmatism and were more focused on selling me designer frames. I decided to search for a quality optometrist and found Dr. Cindy and have now been going to her since I think 2017! After my first visit she let me know that my prescription from my previous place was actually incorrect and let me know that my eyes were dry. We then began contact trials and she ordered different brands in different prescriptions to see which one was the clearest and most comfortable for me and went back and forth until I had chosen one, I was so surprised because again, my previous one didn't do that. My eyes are pretty bad so I get checked up every year but as of the recent couple of years, I've been in and out of her office multiple times a year. She's so patient and addresses any questions and concerns I have, and is very knowledgeable and professional. Her office staff is also great! There's one girl I particularly like but I forget her name--she's lighter skinned, has a rounder face, and round glasses :) She's so nice! I highly recommend coming here if you're searching for a trustworthy optometrist. Also to note, she's always recommending me ways to save money on my contacts and cost! I got VSP because she told me it'd be cheaper than paying out of pocket for everything and she told me to look in insurance that would cover my contacts since they're considered medically necessary. To be honest, I was very skeptical of a 5-star Optometry but decided to book an appointment for an eye exam anyways (it was down the street from my sisters place). I was on the hunt for the best optometrist since my previous one retired. Upon entering the store, I was shocked at the kindness and professionalism of Dr. Nguyen and her staff members, especially during COVID times. Shoutout to Dr. Cindy for being so thorough with her eye exam. If it wasn't for her, I'd probably go about my days not knowing I had glaucoma. She did many many tests on me to try to understand my eyes better and knew something was wrong. She took action and referred me to a specialist. I'm just super thankful that she actually took the time to examine my eyes to ensure everything was okay. I've gone to many optometrists in the past and no one had said anything about me potentially having glaucoma so I'm glad I came here or I would've never known. Based on the reviews, I decided to try out this optometry. I have never had contacts before, but the staff and doctor made the process quick and easy. This review is about the entire process to get my contacts. Upon entering for my appointment, it was pretty busy, but I was greeted by two friendly staff in the front. As a new patient, I filled out the paperwork and was quickly brought over to the eye machines. The female staff was very nice, attentive, and sanitized everything before and after use. I waited about five minutes to see the Dr. Cindy. In her office, she checked my eyesight, reviewed what the numbers in my prescription and astigmatism meant, types of contacts, etc. She then gave me a trial pair of contacts to try on and keep on the condition that I complete the contact lens training in her office. At the front tables, I did the training with one of the staff (long hair with purple accents?). Her instructions were clear and she was extremely patient and encouraging despite me asking tons of questions and failing many times (took about half an hour to get them in and out and had to do it three times.) We also went over the types on contacts brands and their differences and discussed high astigmatism and prices. I completed the training and got to take home my trial contacts. About a week later, I got a call for a follow-up appointment since my prescription contacts came in. So, I went back to the office, the staff were still welcoming, and I saw Dr. Cindy. I brought the trial contacts and we compared my vision in both contacts. It took about 5 - 10 minutes for my eyes to adjust, but ultimately I liked the newer prescription ones. Overall, my experience at this office was fantastic! Not only was the service fast and friendly, but the attention I received made me feel like the doctor and staff cared about my individual experience (even though the office was busy). As a first time patient at the office, I appreciate the welcoming staff and efficient service. They also do not mind thoroughly answering questions about prescriptions, contacts, pricing, etc. As someone who asks a lot of questions, I felt like they did a great job answering them with a professional and friendly demeanor. I have to write second review to commend Eye Focus Optometry again. I have been seen by both Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Vuong and they are both excellent. I usually see Dr. Nguyen. This time I am having issues with my contact lenses as I have not worn them for at least a year or so. When I went to Dr. Nguyen, she was informative as usual about what could be causing the issues. I now have 2 pairs of trial lenses to try on. I told her my goal is to wear contact lenses for my cousin's upcoming wedding in August and she said we could figure something out. Dr. Nguyen is as efficient as she is thorough. I feel like every time I go, no matter what the issue is, she takes time to examine my eyes, check the eye pressure, perform a vision test and give me advice. I've been blessed/cursed/LOL with the need to wear prescription glasses for the past 20 years and visited a handful of optometry stores in San Jose and there are two things that stand out the most to me about Eye Focus Optometry. 1. Just walking by the store front you can't help but notice this is not your typical optometry store. This place is decked out with sleek hardwood floors, contemporary display units, colorful chíc chairs, & if you happen to take your eyes away from the collection of high end designer frames (Prada, Ray-Ban, etc) you will see a beautiful chandelier above your head! 2. My typical experience of getting new prescription glasses usually just involve the doctor trying to get me in and out the door as fast as possible to get to the next client. Dr. Cindy and her assistant politely guided me through the eye exam. Now I've been getting my eyes checked for over two decades so this procedure is nothing new to me. However, when Dr. Cindy saw how high my prescription is. She went the extra mile and showed concern for my vision's health. She explained why I might see little black specks (eye floaters) time to time and what I should do if I start to see white flashes of light. One main problem I had was with my insurance being switched due to change of jobs and these guys didn't let me down. I went into my appointment and got the WORST SERVICE in my life from THE OWNER AND DOCTOR, CINDY PHUONG NGUYEN. Never had i been treated so poorly by an physician. From the moment i walked into the office she was staring at me up and down. Then Dr. Cindy brought me back to my so called appointment. I then told her that if she had no time to give me a full exam as she stated I needed and if she was going to be in a rushing through my appointment that today's visit would me pointless. At this time Dr. Cindy kept speaking loudly and I kept yelling when explaining that she only had 15minutes to see me and I told her again. PLEASE STOP YELLING, I AM WALKING OUT. I told her that I had no idea why I was even scheduled to see her that I usually see Dr. Angela which is very sweet unlike her. I went home very upset and practically in tears, so I decided to call and make an official complain and when I asked to speak to the Manager or Owner of the place, it was her..Dr. Cindy. I told her that I wanted to make an official complaint and she started off the conversation with.." It looks like we both got on the wrong foot". I told her, It was more like you did, I came into my appointment happy and left very bothered, upset and in tears. She then stated that this day, the office was having a bad day, that the office was hot and when the office gets hot, she starts speaking loudly and she kept giving me sorry excused of the staff not make the proper appointments and again told her that had nothing to do with me, I was just a patient.. I then told her that she had not even tried apologizing for what happened the day before and that it sounded like she still had same Negative attitude as she had yesterday. I told that if she had gone into any place as a patient and if she had been treated the same way as she treated me, that she would have not just walked out she would have made a huge scene. I told her that she was demonstrating that she was privileged because she was a a Doctor she felt she can down talk to her patients and she said she was an IMMAGRANT like I was, I then got even more upset and told her that this had nothing to do with being an IMMAGRANT.. that she did not need to bring this into the conversation.. Excellent place and service. Great staff that is really attentive and helpful, AND Dr. Nguyen is very personable and spends the quality any doctor should to ensure that my eye care is well taken care of. The doctor and the staff will make you feel at home and give you the personalize care that you deserve. I've read through other reviews and I even looked at others profiles and see they have nothing but negative reviews which all are untrue statements. The only thing I have to say that along the lines of a "negative" is Panda Express, I really dislike Americanized chinese food. Can't do it. But because I love this optometry office, it's worth the struggle. Lol read more

We love Eye Focus Optometry.. Dr. Cindy is very nice and approachable and also her assistant Tina.. She has another assistant, Sheila Anyway, she is also very nice and accommodating.. My husband and my 2 daughters are cursed with bad eyesight and I've tried different optical clinics for them and this is the only place my kids feels at home.. So far in a few months (almost to a year now) that we've been going here I think we've got 6 pair of glasses already.. yup! We just love it here! read more

Called in around 11am and set an appointment for the same day at 1pm on a Saturday. Everyone was super nice and helpful! Great customer service. The place is really cute. Very well lit. Spacious. The doctor was really professional and explained everything with detail. Her assistants helped me choose the perfect frames for me. I was so indecisive and I had 5 pairs picked out and she narrowed it down to one for me. I can't wait to go pick them up! read more
