If I could give them 10/10 I would! Absolutely amazing treatment from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, the gentlemen who had booked the appointment for me greeted me immediately, recognized I'm there for an exam, and got me checked in. No more than one minute later, I meet Dr. Wong. She quickly sat me down, and got the exam rolling. The amount of information she collected to properly diagnose my eye sight and the possible issues I may have makes her the best eye doctor in Washington. Usually, eye doctors will determine your sight for either contacts or glasses, never both, but Dr. Wong knocked out both exams for me within 30 minutes. On top of that she recommended an affordable replacement to my current lenses that I absolutely love from the moment I placed them in. After the exam, I needed new frames and she partnered me with such a charming gentlemen who brought over many options for me to choose from. He described the make of the frame, where they come from, and closely paid attention to how I felt about the frames to find me the best fit! He aligned himself with what I was looking for, assured me that I picked the most perfect frame for myself, broke down my savings on those frames (the frames were $1000 and insurance brought them down to $400!!!), and got them ordered for me. I had an emergency -- broken, unrepairable glasses -- and they solved my problem with a rush order for a new pair. And then -- a miracle! They contacted Theo (the frame vendor) and were able to order new parts for the broken left temple! So happy now because I have new + old/fixed glasses! (its always good to have a backup). read more

I have been coming to Eye Society for the past 5+ years and I always have a great experience with every single person there. The employees are always very kind, honest and helpful. The selection of frames has got to be my favorite part. Here you will find the most unique styles that come from overseas that a standard Market Optical would not carry. I return each year for a new pair and this last year I actually got 3! Are they cheap? Definitely not but the quality of the frames are always top notch. I found another great place to find some trendy new frames. My current frames have been great and are now starting to wear so I dropped by Eye Society based on a recommendation that they have one of the best selections of stylish frames in Seattle. One of the things I like greatly about shopping here is they will pick out about a dozen frames for you and can triage through these to find the ones that fit you the best. I have to say this is one of the best experiences I've had in selecting frames and picked out some titanium frames from somewhere in Europe. They weren't cheap, but if I wanted cheap I'd be going to Sears or Costco instead. If you're looking for an alternative to do some comparision shopping for designer to compare to Market Optical, then you need to come here as I think they have them beat. read more

Update: 2 years later, Dr. Wang helped me with my prescription. She's fantastic. And Gila helped me find a new pair of frames I would have never even tried on, but are great. This is my forever store. A month or so after I bought my amazing glasses, they got a scratch on the lens. I called asking for information so that I could get them replaced. As crazy as this sounds, I have never received better service from any business than Eye Society. The Optometrist went out of her way to identify an eye dryness/lubrication issues I didn't care to identify myself, and furthermore wrote out instructions to mitigate the issue. I got some glasses elsewhere and had problems with them. The eye exam determined my prescription was wrong in one eye. Gila helped me select a stylish frame and very quickly all my issues were resolved with knowledgeable and courteous help. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the tasty snacks. I've had the new glasses for over a month now. My eye fatigue/strain is totally gone and I even get compliments on how well the frames fit my face and how great they look! APPALLING EXPERIENCE: Conducting business with this establishment could cost you money, time and an incredibly horrific experience that may just not end. From the staff's shear ignorance and arrogance with their interactions with you in person or by phone, to WITHHOLDING an eye prescription that is desperately needed, to their double billing and not returning your money for short of a month, to complete incompetence in updating their records, to sending out invoice statements to an incorrect addresses (that should have been updated) when your insurance does not cover the cost of a $70 appointment, this experience from beginning to end has prompted me to take legal action. The STAFF is more than incompetent. Their arrogance and complete disregard for the customer is appalling. Three of the staff withheld my contact prescription, double billed me while withholding my contact lens prescription. Even after the branch manager of my bank contacted their incompetent book keeping representative by phone (sending a copy of the funded check), they continued to withhold my prescription for weeks. Looking forward to reporting more. Will keep you informed as this situation unfolds. Stay AWAY from this business. The owner hides behind her lawyer. Note: This is a review for the optical department at Eye Society. I have not been to the in-house optometrist. _________________________ I like wearing glasses. I'm not so crazy about the fact that my last prescription was for bifocals, but still, I like my glasses. They help to hide the dark circles under my eyes. So, when I lost my prescription sunglasses while swimming in the Mediterranean Sea last summer, there was no doubt where I would head to in search of a replacement pair - Eye Society. Part of the notorious Bravern complex in Bellevue, Eye Society is quite literally the only retail establishment worth visiting in the entire facility, which also features a Neiman Marcus (Needless Markup) and a few other stores you can't even afford to walk into. On the day I initially visited Eye Society, I was assisted by Jessica. We talked a bit about what I was looking for and she studied my face a bit and then pulled out a frame Valery by IC Berlin. Now make a note of that because it's important. I tried on several other pairs and then departed. New glasses aren't something that I can just pull the trigger on, especially when looking to purchase high end (several hundred dollars) glasses. So over the next few weeks I got my prescription updated (bifocals, ugh) and visited at least a half dozen different optical stores. The store I spent the most time in, in addition to Eye Society, is Market Optical at Bellevue Square. And while there's no question that they do a great job, the breath of insurance that they accept is very limited, which is not the case with Eye Society. Interestingly, no matter what shop I visited, if they carried the IC Berlin line of glasses, it was always the Valery that I kept coming back to. It's a sign. Kudos to Jessica for picking out--as the very first pair of glasses for me to try on--the exact pair that I ended up purchasing at the end. There's a phrase for that: Mad Skillz! I should also mention that this is the second pair of glasses I've purchased at Eye Society and I was as satisfied with the service and professionalism the first time around as this time. read more

As a VSP member, I'm always looking for great frames at affordable prices. Someone told me that Eye Society had outrageous prices, but in truth, after you visit the store and speak with the professionals, it doesn't matter. Amber is extremely courteous and helped me pick out the best frames for my feature. I picked out a particular frame that we both liked, but in the end I changed my mind and decided to go with a Theo frame. I'm still waiting to receive my new eyeglasses; ordered back on the 20th of January, but the delay is not Eye Society, rather the origin of the frames. Theo is based out of Belgium. I called them and received an appointment after a week. The optometrist was very good, she spent good amount of time and assed my eyes. Then it was my turn to get a new pair of glasses. The lady was very helpful and also knew what to recommend. I liked all that she suggested and it was evident that she was good at what she did. They are expensive but that is obvious considering the location and the brands they house. They were to call me after 10 days to collect the glasses but they didn't and when I called I was told it was ready so I collected it immediately. Would have liked if it was done seamlessly without me having to follow up otherwise I had a great experience! read more

Although the doctors seem fantastic and the selection is also uber fantastic (if you're into high priced fashion wear), the front office staff is NOT fantastic. Mainly a woman named Gila. I keep seeing the same thing on Yelp here, that everything is fine in this office until you deal with the staff out front. My experience with Gila was not good. She was pushy, rude, and made me totally uncomfortable. I felt so bad for the poor sales girl; Gila just about ran her over in front of me trying to close the sale. After her intrusion I felt so out of place I left without purchasing anything. More like a Gila-Monster. Stay away from her if you want a comfortable experience. read more

My entire life, seeing optometrists has always been a "Well, that's as close as we can get" kind of deal. My right eye is so much worse off than my left that I've never been able to get a pair of glasses that was 100% clear to read. I've gone in to browse twice. The first time, the store was just closing and the lady at the door welcomed us to come in regardless. I didn't go in precisely because she was really nice and I knew I would be back. So I want to make sure to note that I don't think my comments/experience below necessarily applies to all the staff. But my experience was jarring enough that I'm going to mention it. Soooo, the second time a couple of months later, the (different) woman inside was frosty to put it mildly. She greeted us curtly and then went on her way to her other tasks, which was fine. I carefully looked over the displays and then seeing something interesting for me, I put on a frame to try it on and she snapped over to me "that's too small for you". This is hilarious. No diplomacy, no alternative suggestions. Just, "that's too small for you". After I left, my accompanying friend remarked unprompted on the level of rudeness. It was interesting because I had noticed the same thing but just wrote it off as sensitivity on my part. Guess not. So, yeah, not a place I would want to work with. Frankly, I could go to Fred Meyer optical and get better service. read more

I've been procrastinating writing this review for some time now but just received unsolicited spam from Eye Society which prompted my wrath... I recently dropped a small fortune at Eye Society recently and will not return. The customer service and quality of product are both subpar. Customer service: I purchased four pair of progressive lenses with anti-glare, transition and the works... Not a cheap endeavor. Promise dates missed and no status updates were ever provided. Next an employee told me it was my fault the last promise date was missed because I didn't remember my schedule!?!?!? Um, I had set a lunch date at a restaurant in the same complex based on the promise date, the lunch was executed flawlessly but Eye Society didn't. The instance that gave them an F on customer service was my last experience... I came in and there were two employees present and one customer being waited on by one employee. In this scenario, where there are two employees and two customers, the actions plan should be self-evident. Nope, the one employee (who did see me) thought it best to keep doing whatever it was she was doing on the computer rather than help a customer. The employee who was working with the other customer told me it would be a few minutes... She was less than four feet away; quite sure she was in earshot. Did I receive a follow-up call to make sure this large purchase was up to Eye Society's standards? Nope. Take the money and run!!! Product quality: Lens quality... Not so hot. These are the only lenses where glare on the *inside* of the lens is a problem for me. I had lenses in all four frames prior, from two of their competitors, and the ones from Eye Society are the only ones I have ever had this issue with. As for progressive lenses... Trying to stuff three fields of view into one lens can't be easy but don't tell me you are using a new technology which will improve my experience by a quantifiable number and then don't deliver! Seriously... The field of view in the mid-range and reading on the lenses from Eye Society is significantly LESS than any of my previous lenses. Progressive lenses are the only lenses I have ever had. It is really easy for me to distinguish the quality of the craftsmanship. All but one of the four pair of glasses could have had a much better seating of the lenses. Normally I would be fine with a 25% fail rate but not a 75% fail rate. Was this due to the fact that they promised my lenses would be made in lab X and then turned around and had them made in lab Y? Was it cheaper for them to do it that way? Whatever the reason; I don't think it worth the price of a bad review on Yelp. Just another instance of Eye Society saying one thing and doing another. Frames... Note that I brought all my frames in. Eye Society does not have anything that unique. Overpriced? Sure. If you are big on name brands and dropping the big money for a name then Eye Society is your thing. Three of my four frames talked about in this post came from Spex in Seattle. Spex carries a much more unique and well thought out line of frames; not at all cheap but much more my style. I will be returning to Spex for my lenses next time. I regret going to Eye Society. read more

I have been a customer of Eye Society since 1995. Love, love, love them! I have always found amazing, unique, and fun eyewear. They carry high-class, cutting-edge, and trendy eyewear makers. I've lived in Orange County, California for the past 7 years and travel every 12-18 months to see Gila for my glasses. I always rely on her input. I have had glasses she has picked out for me straight from a rep's case (that was fun!) When I walk in, she lines up a dozen or so frames along her forearm and we sit down to try them all. Gila listens to my input ... such as, I want a bright color, or white frames, or something fun, or classic, etc. but I always rely on her opinion for my final decision. She is blunt and honest in the delivery of her opinions, but believe me, if she says a frame is not right for you ... it's not right for you. In addition, she always writes my second-choice frames on my file, just in case I need to use my FSA at the end of the year. I don't like having to wear glasses all of the time, but if I figure if you have to wear them ... then wear a pair that make you look good and feel good. My glasses make "my look" and I have Eye Society and Gila to thank. I have recommended them to friends and family ... and I highly recommend them to you. read more

I never thought I would graduate from getting Costco eyewear until I was introduced to Eye Society and met Gila. She has a talent for finding me frames that fit me and my personality plus my lifestyle. So now I have started a small collection for color choice, go tos for various occasions and my "staple" which I wear for all the sporty/all-weather/outdoors activities stuff. Gila not only runs her store (stores, actually as there's a Bothell location, too) with excellent service and attention to detail, she is ready good about making you walk out excited and happy. I have awful vision, (-11 in each eye) and have thus opted for contacts for the past five years. I was especially wary of buying a new pair of glasses because: 1) they'd be thick, and 2) with my prescription they'd be expensive as hell. That said, I visited Eye Society twice. Each time I spent about an hour trying on frames. The staff are incredible. I must have tried on some forty frames. They had a lot of smart and thoughtful comments on what made a good match for me. Instead of telling me what I wanted to hear, they told me what they believed. I appreciated that guidance. I ended up with fantastic frames, and now rarely wear my contacts. My recent eyewear purchase experience at Eye Society in Bellevue was positive in every way. Their selection of fashion eyewear is outstanding, but only part of the reason for my review. Kirstin was the optician that worked with me. She was knowledgeable, patient, and fun to work with. Beyond that, she listened to what I wanted and what had not worked for me with past fits and styles from other eyewear stores/experiences. Before I was done, I ended up with two pairs of glasses, and I couldn't be happier. Kirstin put a rush on the order, as I had only a little more than a week before leaving town for vacation. She knew I wanted to have them for the trip if possible. The order went in early in the week, and to my great surprise, I received a call on Saturday of the same week that both were ready to be picked up. They look great and I could not be happier with the outcome. Within a couple weeks, I received an email from Kirstin checking to see if I was still happy with my new eyewear. What an amazing selection of glasses. I have been wearing glasses since I was 10, but hadn't found a place outside of New York that had trendy frames. Eye Society is by far the best optical store I've been to in the greater Seattle area. The staff is very friendly and helpful (especially Zac). They also have a doctor on-site for eye exams, which is extremely convenient. When I was picking out new frames several weeks ago, the staff stuck with me for at least an hour while I tried on almost every frame in the store so that I was confident I was buying the right one. I also like that they have unique designer frames that you can't get at most other optical stores. So far, I'm extremely satisfied with the 3 pairs of glasses I've bought from Eye Society over the last year, and I definitely will be back again soon! read more
