I was able to make my first appointment online on a Sunday evening for that following Monday morning. They are very thorough and had me in and out in no time. The optical experience was also great since I'm new to glasses. She asked a few questions and pointed me in the right direction as far as frame options. They called and texted when my glasses were ready, and picking them up was smooth. I'm thankful for their friendly staff and a great experience. They are for sure my new eye care spot! read more

Dr Kim Nguyen is fantastic!! I'm so happy and relieved to have come across her and the office. I've been having an eye problem for years and seen several different eye doctors. No one seem to be able to help or didn't appear that I actually had a severe eye problem that kept reoccurring. Dr Nguyen listen and evaluated my problem. I was already at the stage of not being able to see out of one eye (extremely blurred) and in pain. She gave deep thoughts and tried a different solution to try. I am sooo much better!! It worked!! Seriously. There are as many eye doctors as their are dentists in this area. That would make me want to at least be on par with everyone else. Pros: Office is clean and modern. Moderate selection of eye wear. Had a good deal on the Maui Jim eyewear my husband wanted. 1/2 off frames. Cons: Office is out of the way and hidden, difficult to find. Staff acts as interested as a Walmart employee. Was quoted (approximately) $700 for the same pair of sunglasses, including lenses, by a staff member who was accompanied by a second staff member. Then she quoted $380. Then $170. Then $190. The $190 came after the employee said "Oops, it's actually $190, not $170" and proceeded to scan the credit card. I DID appreciate the employee asked permission to view the prescription instead of just opening the manilla envelope my husband placed on her desk. So she had some boundaries. It seemed the staff was coaching her from a distance too, maybe by text? I could be way off with that. She was timid and seemed new. But math is math. You can only get 1/2 off frames wrong so many times. And, the whole time the doctor was within ear shot listening in from her office. She didn't correct any of the prices. They seemed really disorganized. My husband asked me to wait to post my review until after he received his glasses. He didn't want anything further to go wrong. And we all know reviews can suddenly make things go wrong. He DID receive his glasses and he IS happy with them. He said pick up was easy and they ensured the glasses fit his face. When a saw chip from a chainsaw finds its way around your safety glasses and right into your eye, THIS is the place to go!! Hoping it would work its way out of my eye at night, I gave it 24 hours. When I could take it no longer, I could not believe they could fit me in the same day when I called at 4pm on Thursday. Great, great staff from the person who took the initial phone call to Dr. Ripply herself. In the waiting area, I think I waited all 38 seconds for my appointment. I did not even have time to comfortable in my seat. Seeing I was in a bit of pain, the nurse/assistant and the doctor were very accommodating working around my inability to fully open the one eye and were quite compassionate. In less than 30 minutes, I was on my way feeling much better and SO thankful for EyeCare of Denton and their late hours on Thursdays!! read more

FUCK this place OKAY!!!!! I'm so pissed. I was told that I would only be paying $40 for the co-pay with my Insurance and $36 for the picture inside your eye that the insurance doesn't cover. But when I went to go P at the end I was told it would be $205. $136 FOR A CONTACT FITTING???? I've literally been wearing the same brand of contacts for 9 Years. Not to mention, I repeatedly asked if it would only be $40 and the lady told me yes. She DID NOT mention the $136 for a contact fitting, or the other $30 to get a sample of the contacts. read more

I found EyeCare of Denton when I was having a serious eye problem due to allergies & she fixed me up & found out that I need to switch to daily contacts & have had a single problem since. She was very sweet, discussed my options for contact lens brands and even got me to liking a new contact lens brand. The technician and optician were also very nice (I can't remember their names ). I wear contacts. Over 7 years, 3 states and 3 doctors, my experience has been the same: 1 annual exam resulting in a Rx for contacts and a Rx for eyeglasses. EyeCare of Denton has a different approach. I came in knowing exactly what type and brand of contacts works for me (same as the past 7 years). I just needed an annual exam and a new Rx. They felt compelled to charge me a "contact lens fitting fee" which is more expensive than the exam itself. I had never been charged for this, and never will again. I know how to put in my contacts. I know they work fine with the proper Rx. I won't be coming back. Based on past experience, I'm confident the same service can be found elsewhere at 1/2 the price. My husband (new patient) went to pick up his new glasses. The young lady handed them to him to put on, told him they "look nice" and handed him the paperwork to check out. By the time he got home, he was quite upset. The lack of attention to make sure his glasses fit properly and comfortably, along with the nonchalant attitude of the staff, and the added difficulty of seeing with his new prescription were very frustrating. I called the office the next day to make an appointment for him to see the doctor again just to confirm that the prescription was determined and made correctly, and then to hopefully make necessary adjustments for a proper and comfortable fit. I was told that he would have to see the vision staff first, but when I tried to ask a question to better understand if he would be able to see the doctor also, I got this "award winning customer service" response (yes, sarcasm intended). "I'm trying to tell you our office policy, if you will let me finish". I was really taken back. It was rude and completely unprofessional. Hopefully that is not how they train their staff in the customer service area. We'll see how it turns out, but it's highly doubtful if we will use the practice again. The doctors have been very nice and professional, but they need to make their front office staff/vision techs aware that they also have the ability to influence a patient to want to return with their business or not. If this is their BAU (Business as Usual), this practice just lost 2 clients. read more

Hands down the best eye doctor I have been to. I switched eye doctors this year because I didn't like the previous one I had. Dr. Porter is seriously so great, patient and explains everything. He helped me choose the perfect new contacts for me after trying several types. The office is clean, friendly staff and top of the line equipment. I totally recommend this office and will be back for my yearly exams! I noticed a few previous people commented about their costs with VSP. I experienced no issues using VSP and they didn't use my health insurance on top of VSP. I was given clear details on the cost before I had my appointment and it was the same when I paid. read more

Should receive NO stars. This employer misleads and takes advantage of its customers. We were told an exam would be $40 and it ended up being over $200. There was never an explaination of services. If anyone has had a similar experience please contact me. I plan on getting them off of our insurance plan and going to the BBB. This is a money hungry establishment. They believe its ok to treat anyone however they chose to and to pad your bill to pay for there renovation bills. I was told that for my daughter to have her eyes exam for glasses and contacts that we would be paying $156 dollars aftre telling the staff repeatedly that that amount was my limit instead of going to other facilities that i had to pay around $70 dollars. So when all is said and done i get to the check out and they are telling me i owe then almost $300 dollars and that it was staff error that they quoted me that price and they stand behind there level of customer service. read more
