This was the worst experience ever. They have no customer service. We filled my sons perception there and reused his frames. We still spent $377. For both pairs. We decided we didn't want the second pair. I took in the receipt that clearly states $90 return value. The manager Michelle state that I would only get back $20 shipping fee because they were free. In any retail environment free is not really free. They always split the amount between both products so customer don't return one and keep the free item that is why the receipt shows a $90 return value. **Dr. Gordon Dyer put in contacts in my eyes with his bare fingers and made an excuse why he didn't wash them** I went to get my eye exam for new glasses and my first time getting eye contacts. I was late for the appointment and called them letting them know beforehand and the lady was kind and said it was no problem. I got there and filled out paperwork and then went to the exam room. The doctor went in and he didn't introduce himself? He then went to check my vision right away. I noticed he didn't have a mask on, well actually the only employee that didn't have a mask. Mask or no mask oh good god I could smell his smelly breath when he was talking to me like he didn't brush his teeth. Anyways got done with the device and he said "okay I'm going to get you your contacts". He went back in the room and started to put on the contacts in my eyes, while telling me how to put them on. Then I realized he didn't even bother washing his hands. He went in with his BARE HANDS touching who knows what. I remember when I looked at a pamphlet a worker has gave me a few minutes before it said the first step to put on eye contacts is to WASH YOUR HANDS.. Yes I know I should have had stopped him but I was thinking oh maybe he did blah blah blah maybe he's doing his job! He put both of them on for me and the right side was bothering me. He proceeded to tell me how to take care of them and I was still in pain with the contact I didn't know what he was saying but he kept talking and looking at me while my eye was watering really bad and I was wiping off the tears and then after a whole minute of him talking he said "is that contact bothering you?" .... "Let me look at it" he looked closer at it with a device and said "Oh it looks like you have some junk in there".... He started to take them off of me. He was aggressive as if he was taking out my eyeballs out with them and didn't give me a chance to take a breather! Or maybe have me take it out MYSELF?! He kept digging and digging at it. I was cringing at the thought of his dirty fingers in my eyes so I naturally kept them shut. Funny how he was doing that, he was telling me tips how to take it out but I didn't know what he said because I was stressed out. Got the contacts out and I knew I had to put my foot down and ask him the question: "Did you wash your hands before putting the contacts in my eyes?" Dr Gordon Dyer: " Yes I wash my hands every 20 minutes." Me: "I didn't see you wash your hands this whole time and I see you walking in and out the room touching that door handle." Dr Gordon Dyer: "it is harder to put contacts in with freshly washed hands so the oils on your skin helps put them in easier" ....WHAT. I understand if it's you doing that to yourself but ON A PATIENT?? YOU'RE PUTTING YOUR SKIN OILS IN MY FUCKING EYE. How silly is that I work in a hospital and it's common sense to wash your hands before touching your eyes or ANYONES EYES ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A "CERTIFIED" OPTOMETRIST. Not only that THERE WAS A SINK IN THE ROOM. So I don't understand how hard it was to wash them! I decided to walk out after that. I told the lady at the desk what happened and they apologized and said there was no charge and said there wasn't any prescription. At this point I was overwhelmed and was having a panic attack shaking and crying and wanted to get the hell out of there. I went out to my moms car and told her what happened and she said that the doctors aren't supposed to put the contacts in for you they were going to have you put them in yourself and they assist you. Later on I was told by a friends dad that you do it yourself too.We went back in and asked for the person in charge which was the General Manager, Michelle Thomas. She helped us right away and I explained to her what happened and was very attentive even though I was having a hard time talking. She apologized and explained that Dr Gordon Dyer was his own PRIVATE BUSINESS from Eyeglass World.... Explains why. So she couldn't do much unfortunately. Which I understand. She kept apologizing for what happened and let us know that she will make sure that they delete everything that would effect my insurance. She made an appointment at the other eyeglass world along with a money voucher to make up for what happened. Michelle was very kind, patient, and gave wonderful customer service that I appreciated very much. It is hardly legible. When we called to get the pupillary distance they informed us they only do PD if we buy in-house. We explained that in our opinion that wasn't right. I went to the eyeglass world on Wyoming blvd in Albuquerque NM, for the first time 07/20/2022, to have my eyes checked. Then again on 7/21/2022 to have my sons eye checked. Today we collected my sons spectacles. All three days I found the staff to be very attentive and courteous. The eye doctor was exceptional and a thorough professional. The eye exam I had scheduled was supposed to be for a "comprehensive eye exam" however what I experienced was far from comprehensive and more like the bare minimum., if that. I was in the exam room less than 10 minutes. When I asked the "Dr.", Gordon Dyer, questions about my vision or the recommendations he was suggesting, his answers were sarcastic, dismissive and unprofessional. Additionally, with regard to covid protocols, his mask was not covering his nose, and it was not an N95 mask, or one suitable for a practitioner seeing clients in close proximity. Yet he complained to me how dangerous his job is considering the pandemic, and how several of his colleagues have died from Covid. The service by Gordon Dyer at Eyeglass World on Wyoming was inappropriate and unprofessional. I called to speak with the manager immediately following the appointment to file a formal complaint. The person I first spoke with informed me that the manager was busy, and refused to give me the managers name. I requested a call back, and when the manager, Michelle Thomas, returned my call, she basically told me I had no recourse, and that Gordon Dyer works independently. She offered that if I went elsewhere for another exam and brought my receipt to her, she would give me glasses equal to the value of the exam. I asked her to please send me an email with that offer in writing, and 1 week later I have yet to receive an email from her. I do not recommend this business for your eye-care needs. They do not provide a comprehensive eye exam and are, in my opinion, extremely unprofessional. read more

Cons: -General Manager (GM) says she has a "reliability" issue but it is clear as day that the real issue is poor management (I was told right away that employees call out all the time...People don't usually just decide not to go to work unless there are greater systemic issues, but GM seems clueless about this possibility) -GM claimed to be hiring for part time work but clearly just needs someone who will cover for her "unreliable" employees on the optical sales side who call out or "no show" (so if you are looking for strict part time hours, this is NOT the place for you) -GM literally took white out and whited out what I wrote down as my available hours and said she "HAD TO" write in the full hours that the store is open (RED FLAG!!!: This means later she can claim that I agreed to work ANY TIME when I expressed multiple times that I want to stick with the agreed upon hours. DON'T let her do this to you!) -GM clearly doesn't understand "work/life balance" and since she has a "reliability issue" (aka the word she uses for her poor management skills) she seems to have no sympathy for legitimate medical concerns on the job and is quick to "victim blame" (aka assumes if you're sick then you must also be "unreliable") Advice to Management: -General Manager should have her "reliability" issue investigated by who ever is in a superior position to her so they can understand the truth of the matter -Be honest during the interview process -Hire full time workers instead (part time employees are not "on call" employees so they should not have to pick up slack for anyone who calls out if it is not within their agreed upon hours) -Improve management skills so employees actually want to go to work and deal with you read more

Excellent experience buying glasses (I got my exam at Costco because I could get in same-day - that's not a negative against Eyeglass World). The selection of frames was large, ranging in price from below $50 to around $200. The standard deal is two-for-one. They don't give that deal for VSP, because they are out-of-network, so instead they give a 40% discount on a second pair. They also process VSP, so you still get whatever VSP covers. Frames are arranged by price. I actually preferred that to another place I went to, which organized by brand. At the other place, I had trouble finding something I liked. At Eyeglass World, I had trouble selecting among the frames that I liked. Eyeglass World also has Rec Specs for sports. I got those as my second pair, which included the 40% discount. Service was great. I was greeted as I entered but did not have to check in. They told me to browse, then bring my choice back to the desk. I was given a bin for everything I tried on so they could clean them afterwards. Once I had my selection, I sat down with the optician, who explained all of the options without trying to upsell me. Standard plastic and polycarbonate were in stock for same-day pickup. I went with a polycarbonate upgrade, which will take an extra 1-2 weeks (I get small lenses, and I've found with previous glasses that the upgrade gives more uniformity around the edges). read more

Randomly went to eyeglass world because they were close by and open. First of all, I was surprised at how upfront they are about prices. Second, they tried to make sure I was getting a good deal no matter the choice I made when it came to glasses, switching lens on old frames or getting contacts. The lady that helped me was very knowledgeable and patient, answered all my questions and I actually got my glasses the next day for $200 cheaper than the original place I mentioned. Kudos to Carmen. I was at Eyeglass world at the beginning of April 2023 and this was the second time are used them for the doctor and for them filling my prescription glasses, I have to say this is the worst customer service experience I have ever dealt with in my life and I will not be going back or recommending this place to anyone I know first their stock is horrible and they cannot get any glasses out there. I have top-of-the-line insurance and their stock inventory is horrible so I brought in my own pair of brand new glasses they tell me it's gonna be about seven days until they are they're ready well two weeks go by I called them they put me on hold and they said they got a note from the lab that, the frames were broken mind you I understand things happen but I had to call versus them calling me then after the guy told me he would call me back in an hour. His name is DarIan and the manager is Adamo. I didn't hear anything for an entire week as a consumer who just spent close to $400 on a pair of top-of-the-line glasses I expect hi Customer Service and obviously eyeglass world does not present great customer service the fact that I have to make the calls and it took them , we are now at April 29 and I still don't have a pair of glasses and I just got off the phone with them and they said well you're not to come in and pick another style of frame but you can't have Oakley's because they don't carry that size I mean what company doesn't carry as you know all sizes of glasses basically I understand people make mistakes people forget to call their customers but at the end of the day it's all about how you handle the situation and how you make the situation right at this point I think I'm just gonna ask for a full refund and go to someone else because this has been a nightmare experience. I lost my glasses, so I figured Eyeglass World was my solution to get an eye exam and a pair or two of replacement glasses. I wasn't at all impressed with their selection, it seems like their whole store is in a funk because even the exam was, shall I say, an eye sore. The optometrist rushed me through the whole thing and he wasn't real pleasant. Their "2 for $79" deal is crap; none of the glasses are stylish or thick-framed. I ended up contacting my out of state optometrist and asked her to send me a recent prescription. When I compared the two prescriptions, it was obvious this location had it way wrong, in part because of how quickly and inefficient their services were. After going to Eyeglass World, I am motivated to find a better vision provider in town. I'll never come here again. read more

I went to the high-end stores to see what my "dream glasses" would be if my budget wasn't a concern. I went to Walmart and Sears for the basement bargains. Then I realized I only needed to go to Eyeglass World at 4200 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM--I got personalized service that fit my budget and I couldn't be more happy. Ask for Rodney--he is a mix of fashion consultant, scientist, financial planner--all wrapped into one great guy who made the process easy and with the results I needed. I will return to get a third pair (I purchased glasses and prescription shades) based on the savings and great service. NOTE: I read other criticisms of Rodney in other reviews. Often times customers do not want professional advice, they don't want help--go anywhere if that is your low standard. If you have style and personalized needs for your eyewear--to see better without any drawbacks from the wrong type of glasses, then don't use a professional consultant like the staff at Eyeglass World. I'll never go back. They leave you to be ignored for an hour or better, the "same day" lenses aren't the most commonly ordered. When I went to pick up my glasses, I sat for 30 minutes and finally told them to just give me the glasses. Adjustments aren't that hard to do. Unless you have hours to waste, just buy from the optometrist. Update: My glasses were made wrong. I went back in after seeing the eye dr this morning and we got the order straightened out. One pair was made usable while we wait for the replacement lenses to come in. I've also had a response to the original post. I'm adding a star for how easy it was to get the glasses sorted out, I'll hold off on changing anything else until I see how this plays out. Final update: The service was notably more prompt when I returned. The manager was quite concerned about the treatment I'd had when I went in before. For the second year, Eyeglass World has won my business for my eye exam and glasses. Why? Well, they're easy to make an appointment with for the exam. Upon arrival, they have already verified insurance and know what is or is not covered. The office is clean, the doctor is kind, and the process is easy. After the exam, you get your script and you csn walk right over to look at glasses. They do contacts too, but idk anything about that. I'm a glasses girl. They always have deals on glasses, so if you're looking to get glasses and sunglasses, or two pairs of glasses, you can probably save some $. Once you choose the frames, they help make sure they fit well, and then set everything up for the lenses. They're usually ready same or next day. All in all, I am a fan. The process is quick and painless, and I like my glasses. read more

My kids and I stopped going to Eyeglass World when their customer service went down the toilet. The last time my daughter and I went, we were looking at the many ugly frames. I noticed we hadn't been called. I went to the desk and told the lady we've been waiting a while. She checked the sign in sheet to see our names had been crossed out , meaning they supposedly called our names. I told her we were in the show room and did not hear our names. Very apologetic, she escorted us to a little table assuring me she would be right with us. We waited another ten minutes, I stood up to see this same employee was helping someone else.? Furious and puzzled, I gathered our prescriptions, went to her asking if I could use the them elsewhere. Startled, she started to apologize (AGAIN), and said yes. We walked out. Just as well, their frame selection is a whole lot of ugly. To my surprise, I received a reminder text from Dr. Kehoe, and also informing me he had left Eyeglass World. I was very pleased, really like him, his staff and their customer service. I would've continued going to him, it's nice I don't have to step foot into the nasty Eyeglass World. I arrived at Eyeglass World and was professionally greeted. I was told to look and around and when I found my frames to let her know. After about 10 minutes I had found two frames. I then informed the hostess that I was ready to sit down with one of the techs. I was told to sit in a chair and I was next. About 5 minutes later, the hostess pointed to me as she told that customer that she was after me. I wait about 20 minutes while the tech finished up with the customer she was working with. The tech then told the customer that was to follow me, to come to her table. I thought to myself, I thought I was next. That customer didn't even tell the tech that I was actually next. I shook my head in disbelief. Not again, this type of scenario has plagued me over the years. No one came over and said they were sorry for the mix up. Didn't they see the money burning up and disappearing in the air. After about 5 minutes I decided to leave. As I walked to the door, the technician jumped up and said, "Sir, you are next." I said no I am not, I was suppose to go before her (pointing at the other customer) and she was next. Then the technician started arguing with me telling me I was wrong. I shook my head, turned and walked out. I was expecting outstanding service. The same serves that I have received of the past 5 years. During that time I have spent over $2500.
