I have not had my procedure yet because it has now been rescheduled twice. I called the national call center to confirm the appointment for my procedure. I had been told by the call center that I needed an additional consultation because the initial consultation did not include dilation. (Side note: Having a national call center is VERY messy and disorganized, and it should be easier to simply call the office directly. This was my first annoyance.) I then asked to speak directly with someone at the Albuquerque office, who confirmed for me that I did NOT need a second consultation, and he proceeded to schedule me for my procedure. I asked multiple times if this was in fact for my procedure and not a consultation. He assured me that yes, I would be having my procedure. I was called the day before telling me the surgeon had "scheduling conflicts". I was rescheduled for a week later (today). I arrive today and am told by the receptionist that I am scheduled for a consultation and that the surgeon is not in today, even though she is able to read the notes left by the other gentleman that originally scheduled me - notes that emphasize that I had called to confirm that this appointment would be my PROCEDURE, not consultation. I am now rescheduled for two weeks from now. I wish I could come in sooner, but I cannot move around my schedule AGAIN to accommodate their limited availability to be able to come in next week. I was so excited for today. Altogether I am so disappointed, and this experience has left an incredibly bad impression. It is beyond frustrating to have cleared my schedule for this procedure TWICE now already. I am very lucky that my job affords some flexibility, but had I been in my previous position, this would have been two days in which I would have requested PTO and been deducted those hours because of this office's inability to just double check their scheduling. I do not want to go through the hassle of another consultation elsewhere but I am very, very reluctant to keep my appointment with this office. I will be looking into other options and will not recommend this office to anyone. read more

My first impression of this place is now they are slow and fall behind schedule with their patients. The only problem we had was with the call center, other than that: It was a very quick and easy process; I had the surgery the day after my consultation! They have very caring staff and talk you through everything if you're feeling anxious. Eye drops, goggles, and sunglasses are provided for aftercare. Dr. Lovato was amazing and took time to introduce himself and answer any questions beforehand. My vision is so much better! Special thank you to David and Cleopatra!! I purchased a warranty on my lasik when I got it back in 2013. I had an enhancement done in 2018. This year my eye was getting less sharp and had blurring. I went for an exam with a "doctor" who turned out to be a technician. They said the doctor was not there that day. I advised Gloria that I was told I had to come on a Tuesday because that is the day the doctor would be in. She basically said someone in Florida or somewhere schedules the appointments and that the information given was not accurate. She asked for a payment even though I did not see an optometrist. So I was called back citing the doctor needed me to come in so a dilated eye exam could be done. So I had to take time off work and I saw a doctor Melinda Monte who said an enhancement did not really make sense because I had cataracts. I saw an ophthalmologist yesterday and he said there was a very tiny cataract that was not at this time even close to being operable. I had a normal eye exam with my usual optometrist in October and there was no evidence of a cataract then. So I spent a hundred dollars at the office that my warranty is for an exam to be done by likely someone with no optometric training. This "Dr Monte" is obviously not a very good optometrist. I honestly believe the people at this office are scammers when it comes to warranties. I wonder if all of the LASIK Vision Institute locations are as unethical as this one. read more

Dr. Bruce January performed my Lasik surgery two weeks ago. He is extremely experienced -- He's performed more than 100,000 corrective surgeries. Dr. January travels from Houston to perform the surgeries, but there is an on-site doctor who is well-qualified to perform the pre- and post- op appointments. The rest of the office staff is incredibly friendly and warm. I was extremely nervous, even for the exam and everyone made me feel comfortable and at ease. I had only minimal discomfort the afternoon of the surgery, and zero pain since then. My vision has gone from around 20/175 to 20/20 and has every chance of improving even more over the next few weeks. I feel comfortable highly recommending the Lasik Vision Institute. read more

if I could give zero stars I would where do I start....it started at time of my consultation (David Vasquez), I was never properly informed of my procedure nor outcome. I was under the impression I would no longer be dependent on my glasses. I started to question and complain the second day after procedure to only be told by multiple staff members to "just give it time". as time passed and I didn't stop complaining I was told they never corrected my near sight vision. Had they explained that to me during my consultation I would have never gone through with the procedure! During my many conversations with the office manager Gloria Sedillo, she was very argumentative and defensive. I also asked her several times to escalate my complaint since she stated my issue was "out of her hands because it was corporate" to only fine that she never escalated anything therefore I had to contact corporate myself to inform them of my complaint and express my experience with the front office. my procedure was done on January 28, 2022, today is June 25, 2022 and I have not received a response since my last post op appointment in May nor a resolution much less an apology!!! I have never been so disappointed. Someone might ask why didn't I ask this or that question. in my defense I was asked if I had ever had a lasik consultation before. I stated "no, and knew nothing about it" With that being said I expected to receive the best care and full explanation of the procedures. When filling out the paper work I had to ask a staff member which procedur I was getting because I wasn't aware there was more then one! There is so much more that wasnt explained in detail such as after care instruction, the amount of drops given etc! The doctor who performed the surgery, Dr Lavato has nothing to do with this review it is solely based on my experience with the front end office staff!! I had LASIK on Thursday August 11, 2016. I was told by Colemen LASIK that I was NOT a candidate for LASIK. Since I'm not a person who gives up easy. The amazing staff at The LASIK Institute in Albuquerque said LASIK CAN be done. My follow-up appt. proved that my vision went from 20/400 20/60 to 20/20 20/25. I can see clear close and far! The recovery for me was quick -- following the procedure I rested my eyes and slept and within 5 hours I could see! Everything now is so vibrant! I went in for a lasik consultation and they were able to schedule me the same day. Everyone was so helpful and kind. I was only able to see 20/400 and now I'm able to see 20/20. I'm so happy and thankful for how calm and quick everyone made the surgery. They talked me through the whole surgery before and during. Explained the ins and outs of the surgery and were able to answer all my questions. Definitely would recommend coming here if anyone is interested in losing your glasses. Okay since it has only been 2.5 days since I had LASIK, I don't think it would be fair to rate them the highest rating possible. With that being said, I do rate them very high and the way things are going now, I have no doubt they will continue to get higher remarks as time gives by. Let's start out about two weeks ago for my consultation. I was made to feel very comfortable by everyone from the office staff, to the Techs to the pre-op doctor. I was informed about everything to include my options. Fast forward to my appointment. Dr. January is so down to Earth and explained everything he was about to do. He made everyone feel like we were the mist important person there and I'm sure as we each went in, we were exactly that. I felt minimum discomfort during the whole procedure (I went for mono vision) and I would say it was more about someone "messing" with your eyes. I could see them but I couldn't feel a thing. We were told 2-4 hours and in 2 hours and 45 minutes after my appointment I walked out of the office and that included the post-op time. After 4-5 hours of things being a bit cloudy, things cleared up immensely. I did like I was told and rested. I've taken my meds as prescribed and went back for my follow-up after a day. Things looked good and I'm gonna continue doing my part. I have always looked at the Sandias and they've always looked like they had a haze to them. What a surprise to me that now they look so clear. Things are still getting clearer and I can't wait to see what I can see as the days go on. I will continue to update you all as tme goes on. Stop thinking about it and do it! Extremely satisfied with LVI, you cannot beat the price and the staff. I would place them between Lasik Plus (super sales drive, not personable, fake, average price) and TLC (great staff, personal attention from the doc, but most expensive). With LVI, you get a great, authentic staff with the best pricing and top of the line technology (Contoura which I did), but you don't get the attention of the doc until the procedure day and post op like at TLC. If I had one thing to say, is it would be nice for a little more discussion/assurance/talking through what the process will be from the Doc prior to the procedure. But considering you will get the best price with the Groupon, and that's how they probably save money, I'm still very happy. So stop waiting, just go do it! read more

I just had my custom lasik about 24 hours ago and now, I can see with awesome clarity! But with that said, I wasn't prescribed the pain meds or even the sedative. All I had were the normal eye drops, antibiotic eye drops, and the steroid eye drops. The surgery was fast but just waiting for your turn took the longest. I went in about 11am and I was out around 4pm. I believe the surgery itself only lasted 15 seconds for each eye. The staff had bought us lunch, a huge pizza from Mario's was delivers and sodas because the doctor was running late. I sat through two movies while I was in the lounge waiting. Most of the people had taken Valium but I didn't get a prescription for it. Once the procedure was completed, I could see...but it was foggy and it felt like I had dirt in them. I went home and tried to sleep, about 6:30pm, my eyes burned so bad that I could no longer sleep. It was like I was sprayed with pepper spray! I used the eye drops and turned off every light and closed the curtains. I had to make it completely dark, but it still wasn't dark enough. My eyes were super sensitive to light. I took a damp wash cloth and tossed it in the freezer and lightly placed it on my eyes, just to ease the pain. Then I took some Tylenol and I called the doctor, but I couldn't reach him at that moment. After 30 mins or so, he called back. He said that I may have been super sensitive to the procedure and that by tomorrow morning, I should be feeling better. Around 9 pm, the pain had subsided to a feeling like I was peeling onions. It was manageable now, I was able to finally go to sleep. I woke up this morning at 3am and I could see the clock without my glasses. My eyes now feel like they have dirt in them but it's not as bad as yesterday. I think if I had the sedative, I would have been able to sleep and the pain wouldn't have been so bad. I would have given them 5 stars but there were a few things that they need to work on. I kept getting calls from them but I guess they weren't giving each other the information. I had to remind them that I was getting the custom lasik with lifetime warranty, they thought I was getting the traditional with one year warranty. If you're reading this and thinking of getting lasik, do it...it's worth it but try to make sure that you get the sedative. read more

I came for my consultation at 9am on a Saturday. The staff walked in with myself and the other 4 patients waiting outside. I was finally called back at about 9:35. The front desk staff performed a test and took me into a consultation. She explained since my script was so high, I was actually a candidate for a different procedure called PRK. She explained that this procedure had a 7 day healing time and was double in price.I told her that taking that much time off work was out of the question. She replied with "You don't have PTO?" (late coming in AND a rude comment...ugh) Since I have 2 young children, I explained I wouldn't be using my PTO to heal from this surgery... That that time is save to spend with my family. At this point, I became a nobody.She didn't even get up from the desk to walk me out.... Too bad because my husband and father in law had great experiences here. Yikes. read more

I had been wearing glasses for over 25 years and thinking about having a procedure done on my eyes for about the entire time. Finally, about a month ago, the lenses of the glasses I had been wearing for years just seemed worn out and I decided that instead of getting a new pair of glasses I would finally look into Lasik. I had an appointment set up for Friday and was told that since that is surgery day that I could have the surgery done the same day. I had assumed they would be like most doctors and schedule things for a month or so out and I was impressed that things could move along so quickly. Of course this made me nervous that my potential surgery was just around the corner. Once I got to the office the entire staff was so friendly and professional that I felt very at ease and excited to be able to see without glasses. They did some very thorough testing of my eyes to make sure that I was a candidate for Lasik and they went over all of my options and answered every question very directly and thoroughly. About 4 hours after I arrived, I was on the road, starting the recovery process. The next day I was seeing 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. Two weeks later, I am still following their instructions to optimize the healing process and everything is going great. I just wish I had done it sooner. The bottom line is that everyone at this place understands the magnitude of the trust you are putting in them and they deliver and follow through. read more

I finally decided to get lasik. Me and my brother did it together April 2016! Totally worth it. We both agreed if we knew the results we have now, we would have done it years ago! All the staffs were amazing, friendly and knowledgable. I wouldn't have chosen another place if I had to do it all over again. My results took a little longer due to my severe dryness. And I also spilled some cleaning solution the day after in my eye so that didn't help. It was an on going battle with how severely dried my eyes were. I was glad I got the duct plugs. They said if I didn't get the plugs, who knows how severe my eyes could have been. But again, it varies on person to person. My brother, was the ideal candidate. No dryness and was seeing 20/20 the day after and 20/15 in 2 weeks. I'm now seeing 20/15, and still have very slight dryness. All in all, I would totally recommend this place to everyone in need of LASIK!!! read more

I really enjoyed my visit. I did everything all in one day since I traveled from out of town. It was a great experience from the start, when I walked in the doors. Everyone was so polite, knowledgeable, helpful and comforting. I wasn't nervous until the moment they called me into the room to start the surgery. I was given two stuffed animals and they covered me with a blanket which was great because it was cold in the room. Dr. Lovato was really nice and thorough. The techs that I would like to commend are Gabriella whom I did my check in with and the financial consult she was so nice and kind and very knowledgeable, the techs who were in the room with the doc and I were Daniel and he was super kind. And the lady that I truly felt so much better with was Candace. As soon as I said I was nervous l, she just kind of leaned and touched my shoulder and the comfort from that was so amazing!! It worked and made me less nervous. I truly enjoyed everyone and of course would like to thank the manager Gloria for being really kind to me as and explaining the whole procedure, how to use the prescribed drops, giving me the supplies I needed and going an extra mile for me since we traveled all those miles as well. There is no continuity between what one staff member said and another, we were given two different discharge instructions by two different people. The assistant forgot to write the # of pain pills on the prescription so after we drove all the way to Rio Rancho to the pharmacy we use we had to drive all the way back to Jefferson in rush hour traffic to try and sort this mess out. Dave lied to me directly when I ask about who actually wrote the prescription, the assistant told us she would write the script as soo as the doc gave her the orders. Dave lies to me about whom actually made the mistake! Come on! Catching an employee in an out and out lie just added grist to the already unprofessional disorganization of this place! It took four hours after surgery just to get my friends prescription filled so he was not in so much pain. That was just one of the hiccups that took place at this very unprofessional clinic. I could write more but I will not waste another minute of my time about how disorganized and unprofessional this place is. read more

After 10 years of struggling with vision issues, allergy problems and continuously switching from glasses to contacts; I came to the realization that Lasik was a must for my situation. I really wanted to find a reputable yet affordable establishment. I initially found the Lasik Vision Institute on Group On. I was a bit skeptical after scheduling my consultation (In ABQ) through a call center (in Florida?). However after a confirmation call with the local office and upon arrival to the clean and organized location just off Jefferson, I began to feel comfortable. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They answered all my questions and quickly brought me up to speed on the different options of corrective vision procedures. They worked around my schedule and was able to book my procedure within a week of my consultation. They also were able to work out my followup visits so it worked out just right with my month long trip abroad. The procedure took less than a minute and initial recovery was no more than 8 hours. I was able to see the same day as my surgery and within 3 days I was seeing better than 20-20. It has now been over 5 months and I am seeing great. I no longer strain to read (or see anything), allergies hardly affect my eyes, I can watch my golf ball land 200+ yards, light hallows at night are minimal and overall I take better care of my eyes. I am very satisfied with the INVESTMENT I made with the Lasik Vision Institute. They stay true to their motto of Better Vision. Better Value. read more

Fantastic. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I've had multiple appointments now (assessment, surgery, two post ops) and I've never had to wait long in the waiting room. I was given NO high pressure sales. Yes, they recommended punctal plugs...and those plugs mean that I have never had a dry issue (less than before surgery!). Dr. January was wonderful, he is fantastic at setting patients at ease, but extremely professional when it gets down to the real medicine. He and the staff let me know what was happening every second that I was in the surgical suite, and answered all questions before and after. Although this office sees a very high volume, I felt coddled and cared for. The staff knows who I am by name. My vision was 20/200 with high astigmatism, and I now see 20/20 in both eyes and am still improving, I expect 20/15 by six months. I paid the extra for custom LASIK and my eyes are much, much better than with glasses. The way I describe it: Glasses adjusted the focus of my eyes. LASIK fixed the focus, but also the contrast and sharpness. Day one was blurry, but for the next few days my (perfect vision) husband laughed at me as I exclaimed at how bright and sharp everything was, how colors popped out, how things seem more "3D" than they did with glasses. I had a little trouble at night before but now, three months post surgery, I have no nighttime haloes or blurriness. I highly recommend the custom wavefront, the difference between it and vision through my glasses reminds me of the difference between the blurry world and my first pair of glasses 35 years ago. I agree that the LASIK Vision Institute is very clean and the providers welcoming and professional. I went with my friend who already had LASIK done a year prior. He had paid extra to the previous practice for the option of having a second LASIK done within a year for enhancement or monovision. Unfortunately, the original practice went out of business so he was stuck. We went the LASIK Vision Institiute primarily because they advertised LASIK for as low as $299 per eye. They gave him a very comprehensive exam, said they didn't recommend monovision for him but said he needed enhancements in both eyes for a total of over $4500. Wow! We were shocked. His eyesight was really not that bad from the previous LASIK and the price went up from the advertised minimum of $600 for both eyes to almost $5000. Obviously, we walked away but we really believe this was a bait and switch tactic. I'm sure they would have done a good job but I feel this price was WAY out of line. read more
