I have had some not so great encounters over the years and when it came time for me to consider getting glasses again I was not looking forward to the experience. Honestly, I chose CJ Sabatini because of their proximity to where I live. I very much like to support local business. So, I make the appointment to get my exam and glasses and upon arrival the first person I encounter is Chris - the owner. From the minute I met him I knew I was in good hands. He was very friendly and treated me respectfully and it was obvious he appreciated my business. He was not being governed by some franchise pressures to meet sales quotas and up sell. Chris was genuinely interested in me, as a person. So much so that there would have been a small balance over and above what my insurance would allow and Chris just said "forget it" and only charged me the insurance reimbursement amount. How many places would have turned down the opportunity to make addition money - regardless of how small that amount might have been? In short, Chris is a star. His pricing is very competitive. He delivered my glasses exactly when he said he would. He is an honest, reliable, businessman and he is the only one I will purchases glasses from when I need them again. his staff is also wonderful. I, unfortunately, cannot remember the name of the young woman who is at his front desk but she is all personality, super friendly, and a pleasure to work with.

M# GUILDERLAND VISION CARE / CASEY EYEWEAR…read more ## A 30\-Year Relationship and a Disappointing Experience For nearly 30 years, my family has trusted **Guilderland Vision Care, also known as Casey Eyewear**, with our eye care\. Over the years, we have received our eye exams and purchased frames, progressive lenses, sunglasses, and other eyewear there\. I have always looked forward to my appointments and have felt welcomed and valued as a patient\. I want to express my sincere appreciation for **all three doctors and the rest of the staff**\. They have consistently been professional, caring, knowledgeable, and welcoming\. I am grateful for the relationships we have built over the years and for the care my family has received\. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience during my visit today\. I went in with a specific need and was provided with my prescription and measurements\. When I asked for a referral to another provider who might be able to assist me, I was told to "go down the road\." When I asked whether they could recommend another provider, I was told that they were not familiar with other vendors' policies because they did not work there\. Although I understand that the office may not be able to recommend or speak on behalf of another business, I found the response unhelpful and felt that my concerns were dismissed\. After 30 years as a patient, I had hoped for a more supportive and informative interaction\. I want to emphasize that this experience does not reflect my longstanding appreciation for the doctors and the rest of the staff\. My concern is with this particular interaction and the way it was handled\. Nevertheless, it has caused me to reconsider whether I should look for another eye\-care specialist\. Since we recently moved to **Rotterdam**, finding a practice closer to our new home may be worth considering\. Leaving a practice after 30 years is not a decision I take lightly, especially given the positive experiences my family has had there\. If anyone in the **Rotterdam or Capital Region area** has an eye\-care practice they would recommend--particularly one that provides excellent care, progressive lenses, and a good selection of frames--I would appreciate hearing your suggestions\. **Thank you to the doctors and staff who have cared for my family over the past 30 years\.** I remain grateful for that history, which is also why today's experience was particularly disappointing.

After several experiences over the course of the week were staff violated my HIPPA rights - notably when one receptionist grabbed the phone from another, stated my name and said she was ending the call (direct HIPPA violation) and hung up on me, I'm now tasked with tedious ethical obligations. It's important to note I deal with two large Doctors offices weekly - for many years, including getting prior authorizations - for a serious internal injury. The staff openly talk about patients. Dr. Roth engaged in office gossip, then based off that decided to call and attempt to degrade and threaten me. They're all rather stupid not to realize everyone has the ability to record things, and as a communication professional, I was so disturbed after my first contact I knew to protect myself. The slander he slung hurt him grossly as it is all contradicted by the conversation I had earlier in the day with Casey (who is highly manipulative and exhibits deep psychosis/lack of empathy comparable to seri@l k!llrs). He didn't even take the time to collect information before the call, not aware his threat meant nothing and me answering was giving him the shovel. He talks real loud.

Unfortunately, what has consistently taken away from that experience over the years is the front office staff--specifically, Joanne. Joanne has a long history of being dismissive, unhelpful, and at times, openly rude. Years ago, she refused to release my prescription for a snorkeling mask until I spoke to the doctor, which felt unnecessarily difficult. Last year, when I got glasses from their office, no one explained they were progressives--and when I had trouble adjusting, the process to fix it took multiple visits. There was no guidance or accountability on her part. Most recently, as I waited for my appointment, she loudly said to another staff member, "There's the girl who was a problem." I hadn't even spoken yet. When I asked to set up a time to look at frames, she said there was nothing available, despite it being well before closing. It was very clear I was being intentionally pushed away. What really stood out was how familiar this behavior seems to be. When I casually mentioned my experience to a coworker, my boss overheard and said, without hesitation, "That sounds like Joanne from Casey Vision--that's why I don't go there anymore." I've also noticed several other reviews here mentioning her by name, which unfortunately lines up with what I experienced. The doctors are great, but Joanne makes the overall environment uncomfortable. I hope the practice takes this feedback seriously, because no matter how good the care is, the experience at the front desk sets the tone--and she's driving patients away.

I like seeing the frames and I like being able to ask for advice in-person. Parking was good at Stuyvesant Plaza; I was able park nearby. My newest vision script was in-hand. I entered the store, found an employee, expressed two issues that I hoped to conquer with new frames, got her spot on and speedy advice, had my pupils measured, and paid. It took only 10 to 15 minutes for everything. The new glasses are coming directly to my home. I can go back to the store if I need a frame adjustment. I'm happy with their products, this new location, and the in-person service I received. I also don't mind saving 2/3 of the cost that the local optician would have charged. Infuriating saga that continues. Don't go here. It's cheap but now I know why. They are awful and the customer service is nonexistent.
