At the time I placed my order on 8/13/26, I specifically asked whether my glasses would be ready by the date I needed them, and I was assured that they would be. On the day they were supposed to be delivered, I contacted you myself to find out what was going on. I was told that the glasses were still "in process" and that I should call back after 3:00 PM because they were expected to be ready. Instead, I later received a call informing me that the glasses were not ready because the lenses had failed inspection. That raises a very serious concern: Why was I not contacted as soon as there was an issue with my lenses? There appears to have been no communication between your office and the lab regarding this problem until the very day I was expecting my glasses. I should not have had to repeatedly call to find out that my order was delayed. This is completely unacceptable. I have been a customer for more than 20 years, including before the company name changed. Unfortunately, this is not my first negative experience, but it will be my last. Since Mike (I think that was his name) left, I have noticed a significant decline in both customer service and communication, and my recent experiences have only reinforced that impression. I have spent nearly $1,500 with your company in less than three months, and I expect much better service, communication, and accountability than I have received. At this point, I am not interested in excuses. I need my glasses completed and delivered as quickly as possible. Please provide me with a clear and accurate update on the status of my order, including when I can actually expect to receive my glasses. After more than 20 years as a customer, I should not have to chase your company for basic information about an order I have already paid for. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and resolved promptly. Please do better.

I brought my daughter here over the summer after a referral for a very serious potential diagnosis…read more From the moment we arrived, it was clear that no one had reviewed the referral or understood how high-stakes this appointment was for our family. During intake, the assistant began asking blunt questions about the suspected condition directly in front of my daughter. I politely asked her to pause and review the referral so we didn't have to discuss something so frightening in front of my child. She refused and continued, showing no empathy or awareness of how serious this was. When the ophthalmologist came in, the experience became even worse. She abruptly told me , with no bedside manner at all, that my daughter had tumors in her eyes. There was no gentleness, no explanation, no compassion. The way she delivered that news was so shocking and harsh that I broke down crying right in front of both of my children. It was one of the most devastating moments of my life. Our family experienced so much worry and stress over the next days, and months. Yesterday we finally got in to a pediatric specialist who confirmed that this diagnosis was completely wrong. There are no tumors in her eyes. The emotional trauma and fear this caused our family is something I would never want another parent to experience. If you receive any major diagnosis from this office, please get a second opinion. Families deserve preparation, accuracy, and basic compassion, none of which we received here.

I want to start by saying that Dr. Patel is very professional and skilled. However, I can only give…read moretwo stars because the service at this office is terrible. After reading the reviews below, it seems that poor service has been happening for years, and nothing has been done about it. The receptionist seems completely unmotivated, and orders are not handled correctly. I ordered glasses, and almost a month later, no one had contacted me. When I called, I was told the glasses had been in the back all along, but nobody bothered to notify me. I also placed an order by phone for contact lenses, which was never submitted to the supplier. The promotions they sell are not well explained, and because of this miscommunication and order errors, I lost the opportunity to use my insurance benefits for the year. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this office unless they fix their ongoing problems.

Update , June 2025. I just realized that the owner responded to my original review. Here's my…read moreupdated and response: Rebuttal to Dr. Dutson: Dr. Dutson, I am absolutely a former patient of your practice, and I stand by every word of my review. It's disappointing to see you respond not by addressing the concerns I raised, but by questioning whether I was ever a patient at all. That's not only false--it's a deflection from the real issue: I paid for new designer frames and was given used/demo ones from your display wall. I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. Only after leaving honest public feedback did I receive any acknowledgment. This pattern of dismissing concerns and redirecting the narrative is exactly what motivated me to leave a review. My intent was not to harm your business, but to protect future patients from the experience I had. That is the purpose of reviews. I hope you will take accountability rather than attempting to discredit dissatisfied patients. Charlotte.

From the…read moremoment I walked in until the moment I left, they were super helpful, kind, caring, and had a great sense of humor. You don't find ANY of that in this day and age in a doctor's office. Most of them make you wait at least a half hour and then can't wait to get you out ASAP with zero emotion or class...like a bunch of ZZZZZZOMBIES!! Thanks for changing my perception and image of what a doctor's office can be like. They have set the bar very high and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to be the team that cares for my eyes--now and in the future. I especially want to thank Maria for assisting me in picking out an extraordinary pair of exquisitely cool glasses. She is the utmost professional, very knowledgeable at what she does, and has a great sense of humor. She is the BEST!! I can't wait until my new spectacles arrive! Thanks again to Maria and everyone at Piedmont EyeCare!! You made my day and restored my faith at least in the eyecare profession!! See you again soon! SUPER SATISFIED, client, Brenda

NOTE: This review is not regarding the skill of the optometrist at this location. This review has…read moreto do with issues related to communications from this optometrist office and the professional acumen of the staff. You don't have to read the rant below. Here's the issues: 1) Off-putting and excessive security for an optometrist office, 2) Electronic Health Records system questionnaire that doesn't value the patient's time, 3) Incompetent office staff (scheduling appointments within insurance parameters). There are other optometrist offices that provide better customer service. For more specifics: To start, greeting clients with a locked door. I know that it is the 21st century. Certain neighborhoods can be rough. Is Blakeney or Weddington a high crime area? I don't think so. So, why is it necessary to have everything but a retinal scan to get into the office space? So you had someone come in and grab some frames - once (Oakley frames cost about $15/pair to manufacture, you may pay $100/pair). Stop treating the vast majority of people as if they are going to repeatedly violate the security of your business. Between your profit margins and your insurance, you can handle the shrink. Next, let's address the Electronic Health Records system (EHR) that is designed to consume mass quantities of patient time asking questions that are sometimes patently ridiculous. Men cannot get pregnant, this is basic biology. In a digitally active online form in the 21st century, why after acknowledging that I am a man would a form ask me if I'm pregnant (this is a "sex" question, not a "gender" debate)? No reason other than wasting time/energy. Why would such a system not retain information from prior visits and simply ask for changes and updates to previously reported information? Its not a HIPAA thing. Is it because you don't value the client's time? So, you really are going to ask me to fill out this complete multi-page form again for another appointment next week - really!? Finally, lets talk about the importance of scheduling appointments that acknowledges the world of health insurance that we live in and that funds the very existence of the modern optometrist office. When a client completes an appointment and the optometrist tells the person at the front desk to set them up for their annual appointment, it is not a stretch to think that part of the scheduling algorithm would be to include insurance requirements for the ANNUAL check-up. So, imagine my disappointment, when I show up after completing the forms, working my way through security, and the front desk staff asks, "So, you're going to be paying for this visit out of your pocket?" No, I pay a monthly premium so I don't have to. Now, to make it worse, I have addressed these same issues - in writing - to the company at least 2 years ago. They haven't done anything to change them. This optometry office needs significant improvement.
