I had cataract surgery last March which corrected my distance vision. The downside is that I now require readers. In addition, for my part-time job, I work on a computer in a public place so I need bi-focals. Unfortunately, I lost one of the lenses and the frames are damaged. It took 2 weeks to get an appointment. I was there early for my time. I filled out some paperwork and was ready to go when Dr Brook Vastis called me in. We talked about my transition to her practice and my vision needs. Mainly to get an exam to provide to my PCP, replacement bi-focal lenses and frames. The office environment is professional and functional. The Reception process was smooth and easy. While I was waiting I noticed there were two ladies that were talking to patients about their frame selections. They have a lot of premium choices, Maui Jim, Lilly Pulitzer, State Optical, Barton Perreira, Lafont of Paris,Ernia O of Barcelona, Silhouette, Ovo Optics, Modo, Morel and Kate Spade to name a few. I met with a lady named Jessie to talk about selecting frames and lenses and completing my order. She was very professional, friendly and helpful. I was pleased my insurance covered a large percentage of the overall costs. While changing medical providers can sometimes be anxious and stressful, this was not one of them.

It's disappointing to see you respond not by addressing the concerns I raised, but by questioning whether I was ever a patient at all. That's not only false--it's a deflection from the real issue: I paid for new designer frames and was given used/demo ones from your display wall. I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. Only after leaving honest public feedback did I receive any acknowledgment. This pattern of dismissing concerns and redirecting the narrative is exactly what motivated me to leave a review. I understand that covid is a real virus, but denying people service who have a legitimate exemption is unacceptable. They had just seen 2 patients the day before without masks with no problems but refused to see us. There were no other patients in the office and all the staff had on masks. The appointment was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. I arrived at 11:23 a.m. and informed the front desk that my mother was still on her way and would likely arrive about 10 minutes late. I also explained that, because of her disability, she needed additional time to walk from the parking area and take the elevator to the second floor. I specifically asked whether she could still be seen, and I was told that as long as she arrived by 11:45 a.m., it would not be a problem. The staff provided me with a tablet to begin completing her paperwork. While I was finishing it, my mother arrived. I briefly stepped outside to direct her where to go and left the tablet on the table. When I returned, the staff had already taken the tablet and informed me that the doctor would not see her, despite the fact that it was only 11:44 a.m. and she was literally walking into the office. After I explained the situation, one staff member indicated they would try to work her into the schedule, while another said the doctor had refused and that we would need to reschedule. We then spent another 10-15 minutes discussing the issue, during which time the appointment could likely have already begun. What is most frustrating is that I was initially told she would be seen if she arrived by 11:45 a.m., yet that commitment was not honored. Had I been told from the beginning that there was absolutely no flexibility, I could have made other arrangements or sought care elsewhere. My mother has a serious eye condition and now faces further delays in receiving treatment. Given her disability, age, and the effort required to attend the appointment, I expected a greater degree of understanding and accommodation. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling that her circumstances were not taken into consideration.

This took forever. They then sat me down for the vision test. It's done via video call with someone not even there. It took forever to get her on and there was a bit of a language barrier. I just hoped for the best that she got my prescription correct. After I got home, I realized I was overcharged. I was told I would get a call back and never did, I emailed and they tried to explain why I wasn't overcharged but it makes no sense which makes me think I was scammed. I even reached out to corporate with no luck. The glasses are fine but the deals you see online are misleading and I spent so much more than expected.

Your response was just a generic template that doesn't reflect what actually happened…read more Over just 2.5 months, my prescription was changed three times and the glasses were remade four separate times. Despite all of this, I never received a usable pair of glasses. Suggesting that I "reach out" again ignores the fact that I already did that multiple times. At this point, the only reasonable solution is a full refund so I can return to VSP and have the prescription and glasses made correctly elsewhere. I'm posting this update so future patients understand the full context, because a generic template response doesn't match the seriousness of the experience.
