I was treated so wonderfully by every single person in the office. The doctor explained so many things to me, answered all my questions, wasn't rushed, reached out and shook my hand when entering and leaving. The front of house staff were so friendly, the person that helped me pick my glasses was so patient and she took so much time explaining how my new progressive glasses would work, the costs. They cancel the appointment the following day due to a family emergency. I looked around and found San Marcos Vision Center. They got me in the same day. Everyone there was so pleasant to work with. Dr. Strum was very detailed in explaining everything to me. I would recommend San Marcos Vision Center with Dr. Strum to anyone I come across needing an eye doctor. I felt that the testing was thorough and the techs were knowledgeable and friendly. This will be my eye exam office to return to annually. Unlike other eye exam offices, this one didn't attempt to up-same me for more tests that aren't covered by insurance.

I am sad to say that it is my last time to order from them only due to the fact that our new vision insurance does not include Visionworks as "in system." I then took the prescription to another provider and saved $170.02 for the SAME lenses. Even worse, the prescription was incorrect, the doctor made a typo which was caught by the other provider because the lenses did not even come with the base curve measurement typed in error, it is a standard base curve! This was not even caught by Visionworks!! Accuracy is critical when it comes to vision care and quality control process to ensure prescriptions are properly verified before sales finalized seem kinda important, right?! This plus the excessive fee, $170.02 more than what the other provider charged, additionally costing me additional time and inconvenience equates to NOT recommending this business at all for not just 1 reason but numerous reasons.

I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews. I scheduled an appointment for 1:30 and seen at…read more1:35. The lady working the front desk was cordial and friendly. I was asked upon my entrance how I could be helped. I think the customer service here is a-okay! I have been dealing with a nasty rash/itchiness/skin peeling around my eyes for the past YEAR, and have seen four medical professionals (an MD, a PA, an FNP, and even an alternative medicine professional) who have not been able to figure out what the heck is going on. I've been treated with lotions, Vaseline, eye creams, and even herbal medicines. None of it worked. Within minutes of meeting Dr. Stanfield, he declared that it was an allergic dermatitis, and a specific steroid cream would fix it in a few weeks max. He wrote me a script, I picked it up the same day, and used it for a grand total of 2 days. Within TWO DAYS, the issue that has plagued me for a year went away and has not come back. For that I am immensely grateful and could not recommend this place more.

I just wished the office didn't load these doctors with too many in a short period of time. They work so hard! Lastly, the optician was very kind. Saleswomen we're very helpful and greeted me quickly then allowed me time to look at the frames. I asked about sales for bifocals and they don't have them. I asked if I could bring my own prescription and I was told I must use the ophthalmologist next door for prescription. Since I have my vision insurance that is accepted at other places ( although not as nice frames), right now I'll use the other place but will one day decide to splurge.
