Are you a "threading" virgin? Not to worry. I was too until today. I stopped by Eyes by India in Greentree Mall after being directed there by another salon who said that they couldn't fit me in for a brow wax. As I approached Eyes by India the first thing that I noticed was their cool retro look and the very reasonable prices on their sign. Then I realized that this was not a waxing boutique, but rather a threading studio. A quick Google search told me that threading is an ancient hair removal method that is supposed to be safer and less painful than waxing, so I heading into the studio. One Indian woman was working on a customer's facial hair and several customers were waiting. I observed as the employee threaded the other customers and was extremely impressed by her expertise in brow shapes. She didn't rush and took time to explain to one customer why her hair type would not allow for a particular arch shape. Then I got into the chair and explained what I wanted from my eyebrows before she went to work on them. Tears filled my eyes as she threaded them because it was the most painful hair removal experience I have ever had. If felt like I was having my skin cut off of my face with a razor blade. The woman who was doing the threading assured me that it was only that painful because it was my first time. Luckily the experience was quick and the outcome was decent. However, later I noticed some stray hairs on my right brow that I'll have to pluck out on my own. I think waxing will still be my first choice for hair removal, but in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate to return to Eyes by India.

So this place is amazing! They always make my eyebrows on point! They're also very cheap as far as eyebrows go. It cost me about nine dollars to get my eyebrows threaded and I have to go in about every 6 to 9 weeks. The threading takes out the eyebrow from the root just like tweezing so the hair doesn't grow back as fast as if you were to get your eyebrows waxed. I love this new method of hair removal because my eyebrows and skin are really sensitive to different types of waxes. I love this place and will continue going there as long as they are in business!

I will say threading is PAINFUL, but it's over in literally under 5 minutes and they always look great.

I have never been inside this salon. I can only rate them based on their honesty and service,…read morewhich both seem to be nil at this point where my experience is concerned. I say 'honesty', because while I have a Groupon for a shellac manicure, they seem to have no intentions of honoring it or at least are making it very difficult. They even got rude with my daughter in law when she tried to schedule our visits saying we waited too late in the offering (two weeks before it is over was the LAST time we tried...we even tried three weeks ago with similar results.) Service - ditto. I do not consider it good service to offer a deal and not back it up with any good hope of a client redeeming it. In the meantime, all the while saying they have no or very limited appointment times which have not conflicted with our schedules, they have listed the same deal on another couponing list. Come on! If you can't or won't honor the outstanding ones you already have, why are you offering more? To make even more people angry? I would give no stars, but the tagline "Eek! Methinks not" suits me fine.

Several weeks ago I bought a $15 groupon for a Shellac Manicure that promised, "a 30-minute…read moreGlami-Cure manicure commences with a gentle hand soak that invites mitts to wallow in its balmy waters before returning to clam digging duty. Cuticle-detailing and nail-filing services groom keratin shields, while staffers gild hands and forearms in a moisturizing lotion. Once high-fiving machines have been sufficiently primed, a vibrant cloak of Shellac polish imbues hands with a glossy finish." This weekend I redeemed my groupon with Christina at Studio Glam Salon. I will give two stars for Studio Glam's use of CND Shellac polish as opposed to off brand soak off gel and for the wide range of services that their salon offers (hair, makeup, permanent makeup, waxing, airbrush tanning, nails, photography, vela shape treatments). I'll even give a third star for the decent work that Chrsitina did on my cuticles. However, the rest of the manicure was fairly disappointing. She started by asking me I filed my nailes straight accross. I said yes. She then filed them sort of round. However, none of them came out to be the same shape. She never buffed the nails. There was also no "moisturizing lotion" involved in this manicure at all. In fact forget the normal hand and forarm massage. That seems to have gone by the wayside at Studio Glam. At $15 thanks to groupon (normal price $30) this was a cheap manicure but not the relaxing experience that I was looking for. *Note on this review: I edited this from three to two stars because the schellac nailpolish which was supposed to last two weeks began seriously chipping off of multiple nails after just 3.5 days. Don't waste your money on this one!
