Hi, my name is Kai, and I would like to formally report that this place is excellent. Usually, when my mom takes me somewhere called a "dogtor," I assume I've been betrayed. I get nervous, anxious, and spend a lot of time wondering how quickly I can leave. But this visit was different. From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly kind and made me feel safe. Nobody expected me to be anything other than myself. I was allowed to sit where I was comfortable, stand where I wanted, and take everything at my own pace. That helped me relax so much that my mom kept telling me how proud she was of how well-behaved I was. The treat situation was also outstanding. I received more treats than I thought medically possible, and every person I met seemed determined to convince me that eye appointments are actually a good thing. Their strategy was very effective. I should also mention that I am not what you would call a "social butterfly" when it comes to other dogs and cats. In fact, I would prefer they conduct their business somewhere else. The staff understood this completely. They were patient, accommodating, and made sure I had the space I needed to feel comfortable without ever making me feel like a problem. Most importantly, they answered every single question my mom had and made sure she understood everything about my eyes and my care. That made both of us feel much better. She took plenty of time to allow us to ask questions and was so thoughtful with our other pup who came to give moral support to his "kid" sister. Today was our first appointment. Our dog has cataracts in both eyes and we were referred here by his usual vet. They got us set up with a few medications to give him for inflammation and pressure. In a month, we will be back and they will run tests to see if he's a good candidate for cataract surgery. This is all super scary and anxiety-inducing, but they made it okay! They were friendly, explained everything in detail, and gave us opportunities to ask questions. We feel comfortable bringing him back here. The clinic was clean and so nicely decorated! Staff here is amazing!!! They are so flexible and helpful! I was very please when we were referred to this vet for my elderly dog Moe Moe, for his eye problem. When it was expensive to get in there, after just putting my other elderly dog down 2 weeks earlier, they worked with my regular vet via the phone and I was able to get a less expensive appt and they corresponded back and forth to help us figure out a plan of action with the first route didn't work for my sweet old man Moe. According to my vet, my shih tzu appears to have cataracts. So, at the beginning of this week, I called a few places to find out if they do the surgery and what they charge. When I called this clinic, I believe I spoke with the receptionist on the phone. She would only quote me for the initial 30 minute evaluation...$315. From calling around I know this is about $90 more than another eye care specialist (Eyecare for Animals) that does the procedure. I told her that I thought it was pretty unbelievable to not quote me an estimate of a standard cataract procedure and her rebut was that they were a private clinic. So, they don't have a good reason to prepare a customer up front. The majority of people I've ever met would expect to know what they are paying in advance, so I'm left to believe they only want to deal a certain clientele. So they can overcharge? I know from calling around I'm looking at around $6,000 for the initial testing and the procedure for both eyes. There is no good reason to keep customers from knowing this ahead of time, but that is the policy at this establishment. I'm not going to take the chance. Seems like Eyeshine's price will be much much more than that, but I can only speculate since their policy is not to provide an initial estimate. I would need to know what to expect before bringing my pup here. read more

I had called early Saturday morning (3/19 at 9:37AM) to have the staff refill my dogs eye prescription. Knowing they closed at 12PM on Saturdays, I made sure to give them about 1.5-2.5 hours to refill the prescription. The front desk girl had said they will refill the prescription and told me to have a good day. Fast forward to 11:36AM and I received a text from Walgreens saying the prescription was delayed. Meaning the staff did not refill the prescription. I tried calling from 11:45AM-12PM and their phones were already turned off from the work day. They are now closed until Tuesday and I'm now needing to go to an emergency vet visit and pay for the emergency visit. The staff has been unprofessional in the past, but this was the final straw. I will not be coming back to see this location/vet and I will be calling right at 9AM on Tuesday morning. read more

They were very kind and understanding with us. Our dog Julep has some nasty ingrown eyelashes - one that was causing an ulcer in her eye and kept growing back. It's called ectopic cilia and distichiasis. It's an expensive surgery and we had to put it off for a little bit. So the doctor pulled the eyelash to bide us some time and confirm that was the issue. The staff were excited to be there, happy, friendly and were also so excited to see Julep. She wasn't nervous because of their infectious energy. Dr. Reed was extremely thorough. Julep was very fidgety and she was very patient to make sure she saw what she needed to see. She explained everything to me regarding her diagnosis and was very understanding why we needed to put off the procedure for a little bit (I was like 35 weeks pregnant at the time). I believe I actually brought her in twice to just have the eyelash pulled (takes about a month to grow back) before we were able to schedule the surgery. She didn't even charge us extra for that! Initially I had went to Eye Care for Animals first and they basically took one look, told me it's cost $2,200 and then pressured me to schedule the procedure the next week. I don't know about you, but I don't usually have $2,200 just laying around for vet bills. So, we had to save up to get it done. The doctor there wasn't even very explanatory on what was going on. Whereas at Eyeshine they were all so kind to Julep and my family. They did the procedure for less than what the other place quoted me and constantly called to check up on Julep. Julep was so sad looking afterwards. Her eyes were stitched up for 2 weeks! She could barely see, she had a cone on, ruined 3 cones actually... and she was just so uncomfortable and upset. I'm glad we did it though. After her stitches were removed her eyes healed very quickly. Her eyes are just as beautiful as before without those pesky eyelashes anymore. She's happy, healthy and so grateful she has zero eye irritation. I recently had another friend of a boxer that is having similar issues and I recommended Dr. Reed to her. The whole office staff is great there. I wish she was my optometrist! Haha read more

Sick dog tried to get him in to have discharges from one of his eyes cleaned up so he has a dignified last couple of days of life, does not expect to live long, office refused to see him and said I needed to pay an office visit of $290 on top of procedure. $290 for a consult? Ridiculously overpriced and unnecessary for a simple procedure of cleaning discharges off an eye. Not looking for a written care plan on a dying dog. I find the interaction with this office utterly sickening, no compassion no sympathy cold just people full of greed. read more

I really liked this vet! The staff is very kind and caring. My first impression was when I called to find out how much it would cost. A live person actually answered the phone! She could not have been more professional or thorough to answer my questions. When I made an appointment, I liked that I could fill out the new patient info online. With a reminder call the day before to remind me to bring medication with me. At their office, they go out of their way to be so nice. The appointment went well with both the vet tech and Vet being very thorough in the exam and explaining to me the issue and how to go forward. She takes her time with the client to get to know them and the dog, and my dog liked her. As this is a new practice, the office is beautiful, easy to get to and has the latest in technology. Plenty of parking as well. In the exam room there was a small bench seat that was comfortable to sit on, and your dog can hop up next to you and sit. That was a hit! Dried beef treats for the pups and treats for the people out front as well. This place is great! While the exam fee is not cheap I think it was worth it to get a good exam and know what is really going on with my dog's eyes. read more

This place is a joke! Staff is pseudo-friendly because they overcharge the heck out of you and provide okay service. I was quoted a price and when I went in to pick up my dog the front desk girl told me it was "actually more". I had to even file a complaint with the BBB to get any kind of clarity on why they overcharged me and the amount refunded. I've never spent so much money to have little to no results. My dog was given a short fluconazole round for a slight valley fever infection which I come to find out is supposed to be treated for up to a year, gave him 3 different eye drops that didn't do anything, they also neglected to get medical records to my new primary veterinarian before my dog's first appointment. Do NOT go here unless you have thousands to spend with no assurance it will help your pet! I would never go back. read more

i have been going to Eyeshine for about 3 years - 2 of cats have eye issues. These women are the best. They LOVE the work they do, and it shows. You won't receive better specialized care anywhere. It's a state of the art facility and they have Saturday hours, which is really convenient. Dr. Reed and staff listen and let you ramble on about your pet! Dr. Reed doesn't do unnecessary procedures either -which some places do because they know pet parents will do anything for fur babies. I recently took my 1 year old Boston Terrier here upon finding out he had juvenile cataracts. I was not looking forward to this appointment because after doing some research it did not appear I would hear good news. Dr. Reed was truly amazing. I felt that my puppy was going to be loved just as much as I love him. Although, there is no cure she reassured me that blindness was not a death sentence for my little guy. Observing him struggle with his vision recently has been very hard on me emotionally and Dr. Reed was as much a counselor to me as a vet to him. Everything was excellent, the front office staff, the tech (hi Lesley!), the doctor (Zoe Reed), the level/ cadence of service right down to the cost of an initial exam (one could easily expect to pay more & get less) The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, laid-back and still highly professional with meticulous attention paid to each detail of your pet's exam. We didn't know veterinary Opthamologists existed until our kitty cat started exhibiting signs of blindness. Only then did we realize that there are 2 options in town - a corporate owned chain and Eyeshine. Our vet and the docs at the emergency clinic both recommended Dr. Zoe Reed at Eyeshine and we're so glad they did! The clinic is new, beautifully decorated and wonderfully welcoming. I don't even know where to begin. If you are debating on an eye care specialist for your animal...just take them here. Just like all the other buggy eye dogs - our dog has been suffering with eye problems for a number of months. We took our pup to a corporate eye specialist around the valley, however noticed some serious issues with our dog's eyes and they were unable to get us in for a number of days. We called Dr. Reed and her staff and by a miracle they were able to get her in on a 5:00 on a Friday Afternoon before a holiday weekend. We rushed to get our pup to their office as we live on the other side of town and upon entering we were greeted with smiling faces and they immediately took us back after filling out paperwork. Dr. Reed explained the issues with our dog's eyes in simple terms that we could understand, spent the time to answer questions and made us feel like part of their family. I can't not say enough good things about this practice. We will be taking our dog here from here on out. It may be a drive but what animal isn't worth amazing service and vast knowledge by every single employee. read more

We took our granddog, a Shih Tzu, to Dr. Reed recently and were so impressed by her, the staff and the facility. Dr. Reed confirmed our suspicion that Augie has cataracts. She is extremely knowledgeable and took time to thoroughly explain the diagnosis, prognosis, options for treatment, and the estimated cost. She answered all our questions. There was no pressure for further testing or surgery. I cannot recommend this vet. Misdiagnosis on my horses eye leading to enucleation by another veterinarian. Maybe next time if you wait for the sedation vet you will obtain a better specimen. In addition the bill was ridiculous. read more
