Being with the same company for 30 years, I never expected to be let go earlier this year. It is very scary to be 55 years old and looking for a new job in today's work environment. I was lucky enough to get a job as a coach at my local middle school, however I had to go through a laundry list of background checks and verifications. I guess it is a good thing, I wouldn't want some average joe coaching my own kids if he hadn't passed all the tests. Anyways, sorry I was getting a little off topic, all the background checks were no problem, however I was little thrown off when I saw LiveScan on my on boarding form. I didn't even know what it was, I had to look it up online. Back in my day they did fingerprints the old fashioned way. My generation always gets a bit nervous when it comes to new technologies. I actually had a lot of anxiety leading up to my LiveScan appointment. All my anxiety and nervousness was put to rest when I arrived at EZ Live Scan in Santee. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Jim, the owner, who was right around my age. I was afraid it would be some young kid helping me who would get frustrated with me if I started asking questions or messing stuff up. Jim was very patient with me. We had to do a few of my fingerprints several times because they were damaged. I guess working construction my whole life took a toll on my fingerprints. It ended up being a very nice experience. I even learned they also do smog check and DMV services, and Jim was telling me about the new auto repair shop they opened up right up the street. I guess for government workers, getting fingerprinted as part of the hiring process is completely normal, but coming from the private sector and moving into government work, I was a bit thrown off when my new employer told me I needed to get LiveScan fingerprinted in order to pass the background check for my new job. It isn't like I had anything to worry about when it came to the actual fingerprints, it is just that they gave me a laundry list of things to do and it had become a headache. My brother told me about EZ Live Scan. I don't live near Santee, but he told me you really couldn't find a better place for LiveScan in San Diego. I was a bit hesitant to drive all the way to Santee from North Park, but when I learned they were open during the weekend and I wouldn't risk getting stuck in traffic, I thought why not? I am so happy I decided to make the drive. The whole fingerprinting process wasn't hard at all, it only took them about 15 minutes. From my past experiences working as a nurse, starting a new job is always a big hassle. They make you jump through all kinds of hoops, which is expected, including background checks, drug tests, and digital fingerprinting. It had been a few years since my last job change so I had never heard of LiveScan fingerprinting before. I had to do some research about it to even understand exactly what it was. From what I read it didn't seem like it would be too much of a pain, it definitely didn't look as bad as the old fashioned fingerprinting techniques I had to go through during past hiring processes. I am a single mother so my schedule is jam packed. I couldn't afford to miss any time from work during the week. EZ Live Scan was the only place I called that was open during the weekend. This was a total life saver. I stopped by on Saturday morning. I had my daughter with me and they were nice enough to put cartoons on the big TV for her to watch while I did the fingerprinting. I have worked in the public school system for years now and I had never heard of having to get LiveScan. This past month I switched from my public school job to a private school teaching position that was closer to my home and cut my daily commute in half. Anyways, upon receiving the amazing news that I was hired, also came the email with my hiring packet which informed me that I had to get LiveScan fingerprinting done before I could start working. I called a few other private school teachers who I had met during college that still lived in San Diego, and two of them recommended EZ Live Scan in Santee. I love new technology and gadgets so it was actually kind of fun having them fingerprint me into the system. The whole ordeal only lasted a few minutes while I was originally expecting it to take an hour or more. Their office was very nice and they have some awesome wall painting going on. I was super excited when I got a big promotion at my job with San Diego County. I new I would have a lot more responsibilities, and make more money luckily, but I didn't expect to have to go through a whole new background check. I was a bit taken aback when I read my new job duties and it said I needed to go through LiveScan fingerprinting. I had never heard of LiveScan before, I had to ask about a dozen people in my office before I found someone who knew what I was talking about. The last time I needed a background check I just gave them my social security number, I had no clue they had some new technology. I was not surprised though. I felt like I was having my right infringed on. I did a little bit of research and found out that this is actually quite normal in the child care industry. Jim and his staff made my first, and hopefully last, live scan experience, quick and easy. Working for the government my entire life I can really appreciate quick and easy. There is really nothing to be nervous about. I didn't even call ahead to schedule an appointment, I showed up before work one day and there were only a few other people waiting. I felt like I was getting booked into jail, haha. It is like getting your fingerprints taken without any of the messy ink they used back in the good old days. I had to take a video and send it to my friends and acted like I had just gotten arrested. It was pretty funny. Working in child care the better part of my adult life I have had to deal with fingerprints and background checks for years, but LiveScan is a bit new to me. I recently transferred to a new school and they required me to get a LiveScan. I did some research and asked a few of my colleagues and they all recommended EZ LiveScan in Santee. I live closer to the ocean so going out to Santee is a bit of a journey to say the least but I like a good adventure. Luckily for me they were open on Saturday so last weekend I ventured out to East County. I was expecting the whole ordeal to be a headache but it turned out to be super quick and easy. Very fair and reasonable pricing compared to some of the other fingerprinting places on San Diego. I needed LiveScan for my medical license application. Jim was nice enough to take extra time to look over my application from top to bottom to make sure there were no glaring errors or fields I missed. I really appreciated him doing that since he actually found one place that I forgot to fill out. I have been super stressed lately with the whole license application process so it was nice of him to double check it. The actual fingerprinting only took about 10 minutes. They have to do each finger one by one. Jim complimented me on my fingerprints since we didn't have to redo any of them, he said that was very rare. What can I say? Doctors hands are their work! Like some of the other reviews mentioned on here, the thing that stands out above the rest is the overall atmosphere of EZ Live Scan. The colorful walls, friendly employees, and comfortable chairs they have for customers to sit on make this facility that much better than some of the other similar fingerprinting businesses in San Diego. Sometimes having to go through fingerprinting for a new job can be stressful. EZ Live Scan takes all the stress out of the process. The owner, Jim, is the best. EZ Live Scan saved the day when I needed notary services on a Friday evening. Every other place was closed and this was the only place open. I called ahead and even though they were closing in 10 minutes, the owner said he would stay open for me if I could get over there right away. Talk about customer service! I needed to have my Deed of Trust notarized ASAP. They had me taken care of in literally two minutes. It couldn't have been any easier and faster. Just got a New Job. Yeah! They are requesting Live Scan Fingerprints. What is Live Scan? So, I found EZ Live Scan near me thru Google. Called and made appointment for Sunday.
