I hope to see live music thrive & even grow in Rhode Island and it starts with places like the Fete. I've seen two concerts here now & have had zero issue & a great time in both instances. I found the alcohol reasonably prices & the bar service surprisingly better than expected for a live music venue. There is some street parking nearby that makes it easy to get in an out if you arrive before the headliner. Music quality was good but probably a little louder than it should have been. I hope the Fete continues to book small, medium &hopefully some day larger bands. read more

If anyone remembers Lupo's/The Met, Fete reminds me of that - several adjoining performance spaces for different size crowds. They give you a heads up on their site about street parking and I'd say it's just easier to carpool or take an Uber/Lyft/taxi. Haven't interacted with security much but also generally go to see old indie bands with other 40 year olds so maybe staffing is different. I am glad there is a venue that is drawing smaller artists to Providence and I'm going to continue supporting Fete and the artists they bring in. I went to a rave there and it was great how the separate spaces were all available for a single event, and it's cool that they host a wide variety of events. Unfortunately they have the worst sound board operator I have ever heard. Every single time I have been to a live show there's been constant feedback from the opener through the encore, and instead of troubleshooting the issue they just cut mics entirely, so there'll be whole songs where you can't hear the vocals, others without guitar, and an overall awful mix. The feedback at the Ted Leo show a few weeks ago was so bad I felt sorry for the band. The low end feedback towards the end of the show was crazy and this person is going to blow one of your speakers if they haven't done so already. I want to see this place succeed and the shows themselves are fun, so it's a great place to see bands, but an awful place to listen to live music. read more

I went to see one of my favorite bands, Belly. It's been a few years since they toured and I was excited to hear them again. Buffalo Joe opened for them and the sound wasn't great. They sounded muffled and it seemed as if they were having sound issues, too. Surprising because they're a great band. When I heard Belly, I realized it was the location, not the band. I've seen them outdoors in a tent and they sounded totally different, so much better. Disappointing because both bands are great. The bar service was relatively fast for a location like this. read more

top booking metalcore/hardcore/deathwhatever. People pay to come to these shows to get energy out. To mosh and swing on their own free will. Security aggressively dragged several people out tonight during Bodysnatcher's set. By their arms, necks, clothing... Security escalated the situation tonight by flipping the crowd off, spitting on people, calling people little bi*c^es and telling people in the crowd to "MEET THEM OUTSIDE"...beyond unprofessional and violent for people who aren't allowing moshing. I've never been so aghast at the treatment from people in a power position who are supposed to deescalate situations. Over an hour of waiting for the next band with no advisement if they will even be playing or if the show is cancelled. No offer of refunds or help of what is going on. This venue is terrible now. Worst venue possible. Not only did they physically assault guests but they also spat on the band members that tried to calm the situation down. Then had us all wait around for over an hour before finally announcing they had cancelled the show citing "technical difficulties". Which just shows their complete lack of accountability. Definitely not the best venue I've been to. The security guards they have at this venue are unremarkable people at best. The man who responds to the reviews on their google page sounds like he wipes his penis with toilet paper after pissing. He can't take constructive criticism at all. You'd assume that a grown man in the music industry who is a general manager, or an owner, or a musical artist knows how to take criticism from the outside public. The guy doesn't even take the time to thank the positive reviews, and only responds to the negative ones insulting their credibility. I'd rather take anyone's word over someone who treats his customers that way. If the credibility of the 1 star reviewer's are that shot, why take the time to be a huge pansy about it? It's almost like what they're saying in their reviews is correct. But that's just, like, my opinion dude. read more

Super fun venue! Setup is great since the stage is quite elevated so you can see well from anywhere on the main floor. There's also a second floor in the back that looks to give a great view too. Fete Music Hall is an amazing venue reminiscent of the vibe of Fangtasia in True Blood. I came here for the Providence Metal Fest 6, featuring Jinjer, Slaughter to Prevail, and Oceano to name a few bands. The headliners played on the main stage while the smaller bands played in another room down the hall. At the main stage, you can actually head upstairs for an aerial view if you're so inclined. I love the spaciousness at Fete. There were a few downfalls, like sketchy parking and no soap in the bathrooms. But the drink prices are reasonable and the place feels like a metal hall. Security was not ready for a metal show and were using excessive force to try and control the crowd. The security was more of a threat than the moshing. The bands literally quit in the middle of their show due to the venue not allowing what they agreed to in the band contracts. What a waste of a night that should have been amazing. read more

Pleasantly surprised by Fête as a music venue! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I had a great time at a concert here! The concert started on time and ran super smoothly. They have some interesting local beers on draft and the prices aren't bad ($7 for a draft beer). Not sure how the cocktails run price-wise. The staff were courteous and professional. They are checking vaccine cards at the door right now which really helped me feel comfortable at the concert. Security is good. The bathrooms were large & clean with plenty of toilet paper and soap (not a given everywhere!). Parking was $10. You can probably find street parking in the area, but for only $10 it was really convenient to be able to pull right up to the venue. I didn't get blocked in--not sure if that was a matter of policy or just because it was a smaller concert. Overall I would definitely come here again for a concert! read more

Can't tell you a word about music events. I can tell you they let GCW come in and put on one of the most lit wrestling shows you will ever see. An absolute mob scene that you felt totally safe at every point of. There's some parking a minute away for like 10 bucks. Highly advised you show up early and get in on that, for my event people were down the sidewalk waiting to get in 2 hours before the opening bell. It's a pretty tight area for parking otherwise. read more

The loss of a star is simply because of its location, a bit "sketchy." BUT, I parked right outside the front door with no problem at all. For a fun, great night, couldn't ask for more. We'll if you like dank and unsophisticated, this is your place. An open sewer of a place in the worst part of Rhode Island pretending to be a nightclub -- made worse by having, what appears to be, a fantastic sound system with no one in the building who knows how to operate it. Don't get me wrong, open sewers can be fun places to have wacky parties, but there are so many other more interesting, safer, and welcoming places to go. But of course there would be a demographic who would find this place interesting just as it is. read more

Venue failed to fulfill contractual obligation with booking agency. Multiple complaints regarding members of staff, specifically the sound and engineer, on night of our event. Disrespectful and hostile towards performers and patrons of the show. Venue and staff refuses to take any responsibility despite multiple witnesses and accounts of their unprofessional and shameful behavior. Not a great look. read more

Good job, Fete. Mixed drinks were well-concocted, and the beer list included notables like North Coast Old Rasputin and bombers of Delirium Tremens. When I ordered the Delirium and was told I couldn't carry it around (due to serving size restrictions), I was given a nice glass and was told to just come to the front of the proverbial line when I needed my refills - so it was a workable solution for the restriction. Tyson was a top-notch bartender. The ladies on the balcony were prompt. The rest of the staff, including coat check and security, were professional and courteous. The parking is managed, though still a bit congested. The sound, acoustics, and space are handled on par with Paradise Rock Club, Boston. My complaints? Minimal (like some slight view obstructions) and mostly addressable. In short, get some in Olneyville! Hosting is done well here, and we deserve this. So treat yourself right and attend a small- to mid-sized favorite act here. You'll be in favor of Fete, I bet. read more

I am editing my review ( which is available in edit history) since I believe it is missing information. Overall, I had a very negative experience that I personally might have prevented but was faced with extreme unnecessary rudeness, aggression, and threats by security. I was kicked out ( which in other reviews seems to be their favorite thing to do) before entering. It was especially disheartening because I convinced over 12 of my friends to come to this event(and was guest listed) and I was treated extremely poorly. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior and I have traveled and been to many venues/shows. I have been warned about this venues management and I can now clearly see what they meant. Update: After the situation and previous review, the "GM" left me nasty messages that left me appalled which I later deleted out of shock. Weeks later(today) I get this fun message of the same man mocking me. Clearly, if this is how the manager thinks it's okay to treat the public especially an upset customer, it is no wonder the security is excessively aggressive and rude. What threat does a 5ft girl pose for such treatment and to have a large man scream in my face. Clearly, a team is only as good as their leader. I should have believed all the horrible stories I hear from this venue. Very disappointing... Also noticed the same person who claims to be manger leaving positive reviews on Yelp. Very fishy to me and makes me question the credibility and other positive reviews. read more

Fete is an out-of-the-way venue in Olneyville, though there are a couple of destination spots around the corner (Justine's, NY System) should you choose to make the trek. The main room is good capacity, and there's typically a decent amount of room. People have had mixed experiences with security, but I haven't run into any problems personally. Bathrooms are large and clean enough. Drinks are decently priced considering their strength. Gin and tonics are much stronger on the former than the latter, which is the right side to err on in my opinion. I came most recently for Emo Night, which was a super fun and well-run event of bands covering Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco (really more of a pop-punk night, if you ask me). Nice mix of late 20-somethings reminiscing and college aged kids. Don't miss the large bi-level space in the back filled with free-to-play retro arcade games. read more

Saw Stabbing Westward here. The good: Venue is gorgeous, staff is friendly, there's a barcade attached to it - games are 1 or 2 quarters, lots of classics (Mortal Kombat! Street Fighter! Pinball!), PBR is $3. It makes waiting between acts really fun! I got to meet the band prior to the show and get some photos at the merch booth - it really made the experience worth it. The bad: Tickets said 8PM, band didn't even *start* until 12:15am. Apparently, this is normal for the venue. In all my years of seeing shows, I've never had to wait 4 hours for a band. Never. When the band asked 'How many of you guys are from Boston?", practically everyone cheered - well, that means most of us won't be getting home until about 3AM given the extra drive. The band joked about having to pay babysitters a bit extra that night. The ugly: Due to scheduling, the band wasn't able to do soundcheck. They did a quick once-over 5-minutes before the show started and the sound-guy at the venue was either failing to do his job, untrained, didn't care, or some combination. The first two songs had NO guitars coming from the speakers, vocals were incredibly quiet. The band frontman made note of this - and between songs kept trying to get levels adjusted to an acceptable place with the venue's sound engineer. The bassist's equipment was failing - so he kept having to fiddle in between every song. Guitar was *still* too quiet even after being turned up. The audience was growing impatient. Luckily, the frontman was telling jokes and stories in between songs to calm folks down. The only instruments that sounded right were the synths and drums. About 3/5 into the set, the levels were finally acceptable. The frontman commented "hear this? THIS is good right here." But yet, the mic still cut in and out at times. House equipment. I felt so bad for the band - I don't think they've had a show go this bad in decades. The singer was drinking on stage to help cope with it. I would've too!! The last 2/5 of the show wasn't bad. Actually enjoyable! Conclusion: I FELT the tension. Drunk fans waiting 4 hours to hear a band they drove an hour to see - only to have it ruined by an incompetent sound engineer. Bless this band for making it through that nightmare scenario. The band did the best they could to make it up to us by geeking out with fans before and after the show, being friendly, and showing appreciation for our patience. Would love to see 'em again, but not here. read more

Went here for Cruxshadows on Friday. The venue was in a bad area, no parking. I didn't mind paying ten dollars to valet my Volvo though and felt better about doing that- it was very cold outside and saved me from walking and having to wear a winter coat which I liked. The part of the club they played in was very small. Bathrooms were gross, but, that's a given. I didn't have any weird or bad things happen or strange interactions with employees Nobody checked my bag or wanded me. I just showed my tickets and walked in. read more

This place IS a party. I went here last night for my friends fake birthday. It takes a lot for me to want to go out on a Wednesday night, but I'm glad I did. Pulling up to the address in Olneyville (scary, I know), I could not hear the typical deep bass reverberating from a show. I thought I was at the wrong address, but it turns out they were just getting started. I like the decor, especially a meandering LED display off stage-left. No cover for Funk Wednesdays and The Funky Autocrats played very danceable, high energy set. They playing here every Wednesday up until 9/26/12 The bar is very affordable. There is a "$10 minimum for CCs". My tab for 2 Narragansetts came to $4, lol. The bartender was nice and only charged me the $4 on my card., but I made it $10 anyway. The only downside were the 2 strange older ladies trying to touch my hair. I'll wear a hat next time. I'd come back, it's a decent place. read more

Great Music Venue We went to Fete last weekend for the Vektor concert. It is hidden down in Olneyville, and easy to miss. But the venue is clean and nice and new, and comfortable (on the inside). It is more like a club, as it is mostly standing room only. The acoustics are good, and the staff was nice. Ticket prices are usually at $15-$20. We hope some more acts come that we are interested in seeing! The only drawback is that they sign a lot of crappy acts. I find myself finding 1 or 2 shows a year whole seeing. Thanks read more

I've only been here for Beyond Wrestling events and don't drink, so my review is pretty narrowly based. The inside seems to be set up nice with a bar on the first and second floor for those who do drink, and includes a small stage. Again having only been there for wrestling, the only acoustics I experienced where the entrance themes and ring announcer which was fine. No echo or anything and you could clearly hear everything. The security can be a little crabby, but I guess that goes with the job and they deal with a lot of crap so its not that big a deal. No parking on site, so be prepared to park on a side street. read more

Nice local venue with very affordable tickets. That said, not sure if it's inefficient operations or the acts themselves, but I paid $10 to see a 9pm show. 10:30pm still waiting. I guess I shouldn't expect much for $10, but it's not even worth my time at that point. Parking lot barely fits a few cars, but there's plenty of street parking. Beer choices are limited to th usual basic stuff like Bud, Heineken, Blue Moon and a couple local items. read more

Went here for a Sunday night show. Its a good club sized space with aome cool lighting and artistic featurea. The views and sound are good. It is an intimate venue in Providence to see live music yes for sure. However, they had mandatory $2 coat check which is kind of stupid. Never heard of that. Also, my friend had tickets through will call and we went up to front desk stating who we were and the the guy said okay go in. Too bad because I like the ticket stub souvenir especially if it's a band doing club gigs who I know is about to blow up....a stub would've been cool. Never heard of will call without a ticket. Upstairs is cool lots of lounging area and a nice view and sound again. Bottled water -$4. Yikes. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had in providence. I will NEVER go back and give them money ever again and you shouldn't either. They were so rude at the door for no reason and were on a total power trip. Once you went inside it felt like you were at a gross club that you would have gone to when you were sixteen. They were more interested in stroking their egos then keeping anyone safe or making it fun. If your friends are going, think twice before you give these people money. I don't know how many times I've been to Fête Music Hall but I generally have the same experience. Parking at Fête is always tricky. Since it is centered in a pretty bad neighborhood you always have to be cautious. There's valet parking and then street parking. Maybe leave your expensive goodies at home and always lock your doors. Common sense. In the winter with snow on the ground I always opt for valet parking. It's so much easier. Entering Fête you'll come face to face with security. They do a thorough job of patting you down and are pretty friendly. There's a coat check if I were to ever wear a coat. Near the entrance you'll find the bathroom. It's littered with stickers on the mirrors and writing on the walls but did you expect anything different? Even though it's a-little dark in there the bathrooms are relatively clean. But add a bunch of drunk females the bathroom is covered in water and all of the soap is gone by the end of the night. Ha! I've attended events in both the ballroom and the lounge. The floors are mildly sticky but the bar is nice! The drinks are priced at what you expect when you go out to a venue. The bartenders have all been friendly. But then the music starts playing and to me the sound is really nice and clear. I think it's better in the ballroom but sometimes the lounge will have good sound. It depends really. I attend the rock/metal shows and with all of the moshing and pushing I've never not felt safe. I see security walking around the floor constantly but don't hover to ruin the fun. Over the tens of shows I've been to here I've had nothing but a good time! 4 stars for sticky floors because nothing drives me mad like a sticky floor! If you're going to attend a show here the earlier you get to the venue the better the parking spot and the better spot you get in the crowd. Valet isn't too expensive and they give you your keys back once the vehicle is parked! Have fun and stay safe. read more

I've been to this venue a handful of times and after this last visit, I don't think I'll be back. First of all there's no free parking, you either have to pay to park in their lot or park around olnyville on dark unlit streets near deserted old mills, and walk to the venue. Then they have the nerve to charge $11 for a Tito's and seltzer water...that they serve in a plastic cup! If you ask for a water they refuse you tap water and serve you an $11 WATER BOTTLE. I'm okay with buying an $11 drink but when I do it's usually a craft cocktail that comes in a fancy glass and tastes amazing. So all drinks there are at least $11? Even a water. They should have a big jug of free water that is self serve so you can be safe and hydrate while you're there as to not get too drunk, especially when walking back to your car at night. I just think this place sucks and I won't be back. Totally not worth it. read more

I highly recommend Fete for rentals...especially for weddings! My (now) husband and I wanted a funky, fun and arty place for our wedding. We knew we didn't want to be married in a generic hotel ballroom or outside at the beach or in a religious environment. We wanted something different but also affordable. That perfect place ended up being Fete. My husband DJs on occasion and he was inspired by Fete's amazing sound system to DJ a set and friends DJ'd the rest of the night. The fact that a tech person and sound/lights were included in the cost of the rental was amazing. We had a perfect nightclub atmosphere after dinner (during which almost everybody danced) and during our ceremony, everyone could see us up on Fete's main stage. We had a proper Jewish wedding, wedding canopy and all, up on the main stage and after dinner we did a crazy Hora in the ballroom. We rented the entire space so we used the Lounge for our cocktail hour. Ceremony and reception were in the Ballroom. Dinner buffet was set up in the VIP annex. There was enough space for all 160 guests to sit at tables and have a medium sized dance floor. Fete staff could not have been more professional and accommodating. Fete provided a valet but we had ample street parking as well. We did hire a school bus to transport guests to and from Fete and Fete staff worked with them well. Since we weren't tied to a caterer, we had Rasoi (a local Indian restaurant) cater. We saved so much money by not having to rent a whole package like almost every other place requires. Also, it was the Sunday of a holiday weekend so we had the space from 1pm until 1am...no additional charge! So, rental of the lounge, ballroom, annex for 12 hours with valet and no catering package requirement for....under $3000. And if our bar tab had been higher, we would have had to pay less. Fete provides tables and folding chairs, too. We bought linens and disposable plates made from palm plants. We hired a "day of" event planner and Fete had so many staff people on hand that they all worked like a well-seasoned team. We took our photos outside. It was a grey day in May and kind of windy. I wish we had taken the photos inside as the wind got so bad that we rushed through the formal photos and my hair lost some of its vavoom. Plus I heard there was a prostitute wandering around nearby (who I was too absorbed in trying to get photos done before it rained to notice) but had the weather been nicer, it would have been a great setting for photos. (It sounds crazy to say but as soon as we got inside Fete after photos, the sky opened up and it poured like mad for a few minutes. Afterwards there was a giant double rainbow ending at Fete. I'm not even kidding. We have pictures...) While my husband and I have arty tastes, our family and friends are pretty main stream. Some were initially worried about our having a wedding in a nightclub, especially in Olneyville, known for its dicier reputation (see prostitute reference above). But, when they arrived and saw the space all set up, their minds were blown. PEOPLE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT FETE AND OUR WEDDING THERE! They commented on how different and interesting a space it was and how much love there was in the room. They and we couldn't believe that our vision was executed so well. Our wedding ended up suiting us perfectly and having it at Fete made all difference. Go see the space. Talk to General Manager Lizzie (she loves weddings!) and make your wedding special and unique and something everyone will remember as a special day in a special place. BEST DEAL AROUND! read more

What can I say? I'm a fan. I find myself wanting to go hang there all the time. First of all, it's visually and aesthetically stunning--they used all found/reclaimed materials to outfit the place, and the result is a really eclectic, warm yet modern/edgy, elegant yet relaxed, inspiring, beautiful feel. It's hard to describe. But let me tell you, I don't love-love just any place. Fete is truly unique. If you're an artistic person in any way, you have to go check it out! They have several Irish whiskeys on hand (my favorite), the bartenders are awesome (Breann is the best!), the bathrooms are amazing and huge, the sound systems is top notch (after years of horrible sound in clubs, this is truly exciting), and everyone I've encountered there has been rad. Really cool, chill, interesting people. I recommend going down to check out their New Orleans night on Mondays. I know... "It's a Monday!".... but it's a great way to start off the week! The crowd is still kind of small on that night but , you feel like you're a part of something special that's still finding its wings. The music is just amazing. The best part is when the band comes off stage and plays their horns walking around the dance floor..... truly special. Neighborhood: it's urban, yes! Get over it! There are dangers every day, everywhere in life. I've been to Fete alone, a single white woman, probably 6 times. I park my car on the street, lock it, and walk to the door. There's no issue. Not saying there never could be obviously, but don't let that deter you!! I could go on and on about all the reasons Fete excites me, but I'll chill out. I hope you go check it out yourself.
