I love their responsiveness, commitment, professionalism, and their intelligent solutions to problems. They are glad to explain and discuss what they will do, and if for any reason they can't do something, they are honest about it and figure out good alternatives that work well. It's not a huge shop, has the feel of a family business, but in my experience all the technicians who have done jobs on my properties are people you feel you can trust. We have had some issues with our shower and toilet backing up. F&M have come out several times to try and fix the problem. The office staff is helpful, but the technicians don't communicate well, don't clean up after themselves, or let you know when they're coming or going. I feel like they half-assed and rushed through the job, as all they do is snake it, which is just a band-aid. I got a second opinion from Courtesy Plumbing, and they were great! He even resealed the toilet, to stop the leaking! The technician brought his own towels, so I wouldn't have to use mine to clean up the wet floor. He explained everything thoroughly and correctly diagnosed and fixed the problem. He took time to make sure everything was working. I first called FMCO to look at my shower because a previous plumber had said the shower needed a new thermo-cartridge that regulates the hot and cold water mix. When he left the shower the water mix was too hot to take a shower. Frank responded to the call, looked at the shower and made brief adjustment to the individual hot and cold water values that fed the thermo-cartridge, the water was no longer scalding hot. The sum total of Franks visit was about 10 minutes, he advised me the charge would be $125 and actually apologized for changing that much for such a short visit. I paid immediately with a check. Despite Frank's adjustment the shower was not really usable as now the water flow was weak and the water only lukewarm. I purchased a new thermo-cartridge and 2 new valves (for hot and cold), then called to schedule Frank to return to install these. On the phone I clearly explained that Frank had been to my house once already; see the problem and that I had both thermo-cartridge and valves to install. On the morning of the install Frank called me and said "What do you need?" apparently all the information I gave when I scheduled the appointment was not given to the technician. I explained again what I needed done and he showed up a half hour later. I gave Frank the parts that I had purchased for him to install. Frank worked for about 15 minutes this time, advised me that he did not have proper tools to install the values and that he had installed the thermo-cartridge only and everything was fine, the new values weren't needed. Frank advised me that he would send an invoice. After the second visit the water temperature was adjustable with the new thermo-cartidge however water pressure was still low. I had to adjust the values myself to try and increase flow and clearly new valves needed to be installed. Furthermore, the adjustment knob on the thermo-cartridge was not properly re-installed and fell off during the first use (set screw not set). This happened after Frank's first visit as well. A couple of weeks later I received an invoice for $150, for a job that was only partially completed and done poorly. When FMCO called I advised I was not satisfied with the service and felt the bill was not appropriate given the incomplete nature of the install. They advised that Frank would call me back. Frank called me a few minutes later, and I walked him through the above detail and I told him since he did not complete the full install of thermo-cartridge and valves that I had requested and scheduled, that I felt $50 would be a more appropriate charge for his 15 minutes of time. F & M has been wonderful in fixing the plumbing issues here and they really care about the quality of their work and the residents in this building. We live in a condo in Pasadena and our management co. uses F&M aka FMCO plumbing. We hired them to install our new kitchen faucet in May 2013 and by Sept. same year faucet was moving from base. We called and another plumber was sent out seeking to charge us for making repairs on previous faulty installation. I stated " we're not paying for a repair on their faulty work that was done by them in May 2013. I called numerous times but when I asked to speak to the owner and only than was the problem finally resolved and repair was covered by them. Fortunately I save all my home repair receipt. I have used F&M Plumbing for about 5 years now and I have always had great service and very fair pricing. The work has been excellent and the plumbers have been very knowledgeable and skillful. One time money was tight for a service I ordered and had to get a clog fixed with the sceptic tank and they were able to help me with the charge because I was a repeat customer. Minus the initial frustration in coordinating and communication of scheduling, I was satisfied with the final completion and overall service of work. Juan, Jesus, and Kevin (their supervisor) were great! They cleaned out and replaced my kitchen main drain line. The horizontal line was completely replaced in the garage and the vertical line hydro-jetted on Saturday morning after discovering 20 feet+ of complete blockage with years of build-up. Coming home from vacation several years ago, we discovered water leaking from under the kitchen sink. The instant Hot/Cold tank had sprung a leak. Even though it was after 9 p.m., Mike the owner of F&M came out and fixed it for us, and later installed a new tank. Since then, I've been a loyal customer, using them for various projects in the bathrooms (valve stems, angle stops), toilets (flap assemblies, angle stops), and replacing the entire back yard drainage system that had become weed-clogged. Then, today Kevin replaced a tricky valve assembly in a leaky kitchen faucet, avoiding the need to buy a new faucet. We've been thoroughly pleased with their work every time. Mike and the Office staff good A couple of their guys that work for them sketchy at best. A job $530 that required 1 hose clamp to fix a leak in a 1" polybutylene line was never repaired and the second guy wanted to charge to elderly ladies another $450 to do what the first guy should have done originally. I am sure Mike will step up and make it right and I will then reconsider recommending them. For now though if you use them watch the work and don't them back fill any hole without checking the work. In my own professional carrier I have similar practices sealing walls before the inspector gets there in hope the inspector doesn't require them to uncover their work. read more

We had some issues with the particular team that came to our house. The owner and I have resolved our differences now.

We had a problem with replacing our old kitchen faucet for a new one as the old one was rusted in place. When disconnecting hot and cold water lines, one of the lines broke and we had to turn off the main water line which in turn prevented us from access to the shower and toilet in the bathroom. Kevin dispatched a highly skilled technician, on short notice, who worked very fast and efficient and for a reasonable cost considering it was an emergency call. We are very grateful for their professionalism, courtesy, quick repair without a long wait time, and great overall service. We highly recommend F&M Plumbing to all friends and family and would hire them again for any plumbing repair. read more

I had to sign up for a Yelp account just to warn others not to use this plumbing company. Not only did I find out from the other members of my HOA Board that F&M Plubming charges up to 50% higher than other plumbing companies in the area, the staff had the audacity to threaten me for non-payment on the account when F&M never fixed the leak that the company was called out to my home in the first place. Just to replace some valves, etc. and 20 minutes of actual labor, I was quoted $285 one day and $295, the other. There are too many honorable, reputable plumbers on Yelp with great ratings from other users. Avoid F& M Plumbing at all costs. F & M plumbing (especially Thomas and Kevin) were just super helpful, responsive and reasonably priced on their last two visits to my apartment. When I lost my engagement ring down the shower drain, I was so upset. Thomas came out twice; first to attempt to vacuum it up from the shower drain using a camera, and then (after coordinating with the downstairs retail tenant during the holidays, whose ceiling would give us access to the shower trap pipe) Thomas and Kevin investigated the u-bend below. They even managed to open the pipe without damaging the retail store's Pantone paint on the pipes, which was critical to the store owner and therefore also me. Although we weren't able to find my ring (enjoy it, fishies of the ocean!), their search was exhaustive, well-informed, well-explained, and well-priced. They left us feeling confident that we had done everything possible, with the least amount of impact on our pipes and our neighbors. Sidenote, we also felt grateful for ring insurance and confident that we could go to our insurance company to demonstrate we had done everything possible to recover the ring. I highly recommend F&M and would use them again... Hopefully not for the same issue! read more

We had a clog and was quoted over the phone for $125 to snake out 100 feet sewer line. The guy came and tried twice with a small blade to about 25 feet then pulled the snake out. While he was doing it, his office called him. He came back and told us his office told him to tell us he needs to run a camera to the stoppage, then he may need to dig, cut the line, and replace the line. He never told us how much that will cost and what happens if it is not fixed. We did not want to go for it until we get a second opinion so we wanted to just pay for his service for about 35 min. His office told him to charge us for $79. When I asked him how they came up with that number, he called his office again. Those people were very rude and kept talking over me and my husband. Two people came on the line and kept arguing without letting us talk. They said there is a service charge. We said it was not discussed how much we will be charged if they don't complete the job when they quoted the price. We are willing to pay what was quoted if they complete the work. Finally the guy, Santiago, took the phone away and told us he was told to leave. When we asked him how about the bill for today, he said maybe they will mail it. We don't know what is going to happen now, this is just very unprofessional. $79 is not a big deal but the way they handle their business is not right. read more

I had a great experience with F&M Plumbing, replacing a part that controls the water to my washing machine (it's box that shuts off the water supply to the machine if there's a leak). I was able to text a photo of the part to F&M, and they promptly ordered a new one and installed it immediately for me. The gentleman they sent, Thomas, was so kind and helpful; he went above and beyond, coming back the same morning when I had a problem with the washing machine (not the part they had ordered or his installation of it). He checked all the hoses and the filter to machine, and helped me trouble shoot why it still wouldn't work. The machine is up and running thanks to Thomas and F&M (and no thanks to Sears). I don't write Yelp reviews, but I'm happy to do so in this instance. Finally, a service provider in Pasadena that I will actually use again! read more

The plumber did not do a good job. He had a bad attitude against customers and becomes irritated when clients ask questions. He was dishonest when it came to the pricing. The plumber stated that he would charge a bit more if the job was difficult. Not only did the plumber change the agreement, but he also failed to clearly state the specifics of the price. In the end, the client was charged doubled. The manager had to sort the disagreement out. Their attitude towards customers must change. read more
