As many of the reviews mentioned, Kevin was responsive and came out to install a fireplace switch + valve in a reasonable time frame. My average rating is due to 2 things: The switch that got installed wasn't what I wanted -- I asked for the simple on/off toggle version but he installed a slider that was supposedly superior but just not what I wanted. Also, he installed everything during my remodel -- once I moved in I discovered my fireplace didn't turn on. I saw him at my neighbor's house recently but he refused to stop by for even a minute and instead directed me to PG&E. Anyways, as of today my fireplace still doesn't turn on. read more

Recently the fireplace in our master bedroom stopped working due to dead batteries. We replaced the batteries but, in doing so, managed to disable the link between the remote control and the fireplace. Within an hour we received a response to our voicemail from Kevin at F&S who coached my wife and I by phone on how to restore remote control of the fireplace. We have commercial-grade SunPak gas heaters, 2 of which were igniting but not giving off heat properly. Kevin discovered spiders clogging the pilot tubes and cleaned them out as well as addition spider webs around the heating elements. To our delight, all heaters are back to full operation. We've had several issues with our Cozy Heat gas insert since it was installed (by some other "tech") in 2018ish. I neglected the issues until 10/2021 when I called F&S. I needed to use F & S again, because all of a sudden, the pilot light was off. Kevin came out very quickly, cleaned the unit which allowed the pilot light to go on, he scraped the back of the unit which looked white from all the burning, piled the logs so you could not see that white residue, and perfectly cleaning the glass insert. This was the only company I found out there that would re-attach a back wall in my firebox. Apparently, these jobs can be tricky and take some time to do. Kevin came out and was very polite and personable and completed the task within 15 minutes of his arrival. It was just a matter of attaching the back wall to the bracket that was already intact. He said that he wasn't going to charge me for doing that, which I was totally surprised to hear! The jog was initially estimated at $300. I told him that I was going to give him a little something regardless. Looking back on it all, I should have given them a little more. Kevin was great when he came to service our gas fireplace. The fireplace was not staying on when the flame was lit. He was very thorough in taking apart the fireplace and determining the real problem. He had the part we needed in his truck so we didn't have to wait another 2 weeks for the parts to be shipped. After repairing the module, he thoroughly cleaned our fireplace since it hadn't been cleaned since it was installed. He also cleaned up the surrounding area and left everything nicer than when he first got here. His price is fair for repairing fireplaces and only charges when the job is finished. He replaced the entire fireplace with a different make and model and told me he was going to hold the manufacturer of the original one accountable for all the problems we had.
