We had two gas fireplaces in our house which had not worked for years. The place who sold them to us had no interest in repairing them. I saw these reviews and decided F&S were the guys we needed! Kevin called me an hour before our appointment and asked if we were available early-he arrived as he said he would and got right to work. Confirmation of scheduling received initially and as a followup a few days in advance of the agreed date, on time service, questions answered. This was a routine service with no problems detected. Can't say enough positive things about my/our experience with Kevin Brogdon and F&S. First off, our 31 year old LOPI has been great. It died, but he revived it. I was looking at a $5600 replacement - Brandon showed up as promised, replaced the fan and the "thermo cupler" sp - Had estimated $850, but only needed a $200 part. instead of a $400 part. A nice surprise when he said it will only be $650. Lastly, he had quite a time disassembling the fireplace - lots of grunts, and gosh - I can't believe this thing. But kept his head down and got our Fireplace back up and running on Dec 29 - instead of the Jan 10th projected. We are happy campers. read more

We had installed a new high end electric ignition majestic gas fireplace in 2015 and for years, we always had problems getting the fireplace to ignite. I had replaced the control modules multiple times along with the pilot light but still had problems getting it to light. I like to think I could fix anything but finally realized I was out of options when no amount of replacement parts did the trick. I called F&S and Kevin came out to diagnose . Turns out he had to make a lot of subtle changes to the flow from the regulator as there was too much draft, along with bending the igniter wire to improve ignition. This worked well and the fireplace stayed on, but after 25 minutes, the flames would go out. Kevin came out a second time at no charge and made more adjustments and this time it worked perfectly. We have been using the fireplace every night for the past month and it works flawlessly. I could not have ever figured this out on my own and am glad to have someone like F&S to fix such a baffling problem. read more

I reached out to two vendors about a malfunctioning gas fireplace, both of whose Yelp page promised two hour response time. The other vendor responded within the two hours, asked me to send some photos, and told me my remote control starter couldn't be fixed but could be replaced. Daniel (the F&S owner) responded to my Yelp contact in several hours and suggested I call Kevin. I called immediately and got Kevin's voice mail: "due to a high volume of service work, he is returning phone calls only after 6pm". Later that evening, Kevin called as promised and guessed the fireplace could be fixed. A flat rate of $200 for a one-hour service call which included a tuneup of the gas fireplace and could be applied to additional work if it was required. A few days later he arrived 15 mins early (!) for our scheduled appointment. In 10 mins he confirmed he could fix the fireplace and 40 mins later he was done. He cleaned the fireplace, changed the batteries in the starter, and rearranged the glowing embers and fireplace logs to fit the manufacturer recommendation (I took a photo of his handiwork so I could do it myself the next time). He even gave me a tutorial on how to restart the pilot light. Some other Yelpers have mentioned a one-year warranty on the work but Kevin said 6 months. There wasn't any paperwork so I'm unsure -- I hope I don't have to find out. Kevin is friendly and helpful. I recommend F&S. read more

F&S has serviced my gas burning fireplace twice in the past few years. They are reliable and get the job done. They aren't cheap ($250 for the service call and inspection, an additional $100 to replace the thermocouple), but I'm happy with the work they've done so I won't complain. There don't seem to be too many reputable people out there servicing freestanding natural gas fireplaces. read more

I cannot say enough about the service call I received yesterday from Kevin of F&S Fireplace Systems. Kevin has vast experience and after a very short analysis determined exactly what was keeping my fireplace from igniting. It turned out that a "dead" spider was wedged in the gas line (spiders like the smell of natural gas), so he got rid of that fellow and then he made some slight adjustments throughout the entire log set. He showed me the best place to place the large and small logs to get the best flames and the best flame view from both sides of this fireplace. I would highly recommend Kevin enthusiastically. Kevin from F&S Fireplace came out to diagnose our built in gas fireplace. They charge a flat fee to fix it which might seem steep compared to some places's minimum charge but in the end it is way cheaper. Kevin really knew what he was doing and found the parts that were burned out from a recent power surge when the electricity came back on after a storm. He didn't have the parts on hand, but got them right away and called back promptly. He even came out on a Sunday to get us back up and running.
