DO NOT get a membership at catalyst, they are incompetent and greedy. They messed up my original contract, it was supposed to be $30 a month and they were charging me $33 a month. Not much of a difference but I had to make them fix it and I'm not even sure how that happened as their plans are $20, $30 & $40 a month. Trying to cancel your membership? A fkn nightmare. I spoke to the front desk in April 2026 and they told me my membership expired on 5/27/26 (12 mo contract was up) and would not renew. They gave me an email and number for cancellations and told me to just email to confirm it ended 5/27. I email early May and they said they have a 30 day cancellation policy and I will now be charged an extra month which directly contradicts what the front desk employees told me. To make matters worse, I see a $50 charge on my account, separate from the $30 monthly fee. I assume it was a cancellation fee but there was no mention of any cancellation fee being charged and there shouldn't be one since my contract was up. They do not care about you and only care about getting as much money out of you as possible. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. read more

Just transferred here from Fitness 19. Still trying to get used to the machines. Much different than what I am used to. Not too much interaction with the staff at this point. Smoothie bar and showers are available. Classes are available for a higher cost monthly. I have chosen just to go and workout at the lower rate. So far so good. read more

Catalyst Fitness - Gyms Near Me - Cheektowaga, New York

I signed up for a gym membership with Catalyst in December 2024. In March of 2025, I began having health issues as I had a knee injury and would now be unable to go to the gym. I contacted the Catalyst location I had regularly gone to, on Broadway St., in April 2025 and told the gentleman at the front desk that I had torn my meniscus and would be unable to attend the gym. I requested to cancel my membership and was told since it was due to an injury, it would be notated in my account and I would have no future charges. However, they still charged my card again. I called again and explained my injury and that I could not walk or drive. Now, in July Catalyst is saying I have a past due balance, there are no notes on my account and that my membership was never canceled. I emailed Michelle Mesel, who the front desk member of the club my contract was assigned to, said needed to be sent the proof of injury to cancel. I included a doctor's note describing the extent of the injury and why I could not go to the gym, my contract stating I can cancel due to injury, and the actual MRI reports of the tear. Michelle said that my membership still could not be canceled, even with the proof and that there was a past due balance from April-July because the original report of my injury was never notated in their system. read more

Beware when joining this gym or when attempting to cancel your membership. My fiancé and I got shuffled around between two locations to try and cancel our memberships together. We were told on Jan 26, 2025 at the West Seneca location that we were cancelled. Then on Feb 26,2025 we were both charged again for the monthly fee. We both went back on the 26th and yet again were told we were cancelled. Well this weekend Oct 3rd just I got a notice from a collection agency saying I owe $137 for past due catalyst fitness fees. Just me not my fiancé. I mailed a dispute to the collection agency, contacted the BBB and the attorney generals office. Catalyst responded quickly to the BBB, everything they stated was a lie of course, especially saying they had no record of me attempting to cancel my membership. The gym stated in the BBB response that they were pulling back the collection agency account and it will be removed from my credit report and I don't owe the gym and further money. It's obvious the employee at the West Seneca location can't click a few buttons. I bet the gym has some sort of sales requirement in place where employees need to get so many memberships and reduce the number of cancellations. If you do successfully cancel your membership get it in writing so they can't lie and say they have no record, don't trust some employee to add proper notes to your account. This location has all the equipment that I desire...But: if you need your hearing checked, then this is the place to go. The volume they play the music, especially the weekends, is undesirable and if you can't hear the music then a trip to a hearing-specialist might be necessary. Bad experience with staff here. Asking questions about the shakes for a post event recovery and very short answers back, extremely condescending staff member shut me down when I asked what was in the coffee mix. Sorry I care about what I put into my body that's why I came to the gym. Will be going elsewhere for my gym services. read more

The only other review for this location from Molly is wrong. All the staff are friendly and are helpful. This location has a great neighborhood feel. The only reason why this is not 5 stars is the gym needs to become bigger or have less memberships. Peak hours are extremely packed and it gets annoying when you can't even do the workout you wanted to do. read more

I've been a member of catalyst for a few years now. I've always had a good experience with staff, but you definitely get the feel that management is just money hungry. Example 1: I used to spend $350/mo for unlimited training. It started out as one on one. And because they wanted to keep enrolling people I ended up in groups of 5-9 people. That is no longer personal training, and you should not falsely lure people into a program and then switch it to essentially group classes while keeping cost the same. example 2: their system will give a pop up notice when your payment method has expired. Instead of calling you to let you know, they'll let your monthly payment bounce, and then charge you a $20 fee. When I said no one had even called me to request an updated card I was told "yeah we never do". Management- If you're going to be over-enrolling your gyms and skimming money from people- at least reinvest in your locations. West Seneca is an express location but is lacking in amenities. Dated locker rooms with a weird smell. Not too much room for HIIT workouts. Basic equipment. They ripped out the daycare and plugged in a couple massage chairs without actually making it its own area or room. Literally just tore down walls and put some chairs there. Waste of potential space. Also earlier this year the parking lot was a MESS of potholes, and there was an instance of a flood while I was working out that literally ruined cars. I managed to get mine out, but I drive an SUV and it flooded with water up to my ankles. You're lucky enough to have decent staff. Take care of your properties and the people who fund your business. The only thing keeping me here at this point is convenience in location. read more

Had conflict with a staff member for taking a picture of a tv which a family member was on at the time (she thought I was taking a picture of her for some reason because she was standing in the same area) Sent her boyfriend to confront me while I was on the treadmill. After showing him the picture I took, he apologized at least. Cancelled my membership at a different location immediately staff member who handled this put "conflict with member" instead of "conflict with staff" pretty unprofessional and embarrassing. read more

Gym is clean, has the basic equipment to get a good workout in, and has super friendly staff. Don't let one bad review stop you from coming, or belonging to, this gym. Just like rush hour on the thruway where you're barely moving, there will be rush hour at a gym where most machines are taken. If you wait it out, you won't be waiting long. Be prepared to be scanned in by a member of their staff, as customer service seems important to them. It's a gym that gets the job done, and you're not paying an arm and a leg for a workout. read more

Been coming here with my boyfriend since Feb of this year and have been bringing my son with us to attend daycare while we workout. All of a sudden the rep at the front desk(not sure what her name is but she's the young lady with her hair shaved on both sides) decided to tell us we don't have daycare on our membership. Ok no problem. Instead of offering to let my son stay for the remaining of the time (it's almost 7pm and daycare closes at 8) she offers us to pay $10 just for today or we can add daycare for $20 a month.... (Did I mention my sons been coming here with us and all the staff has seen us drop him off at the daycare located directly by the main entrance and no ones ever said anything- especially since they have to look up your info in their database in order to let you workout???)...uhh thanks but no thanks. I'm no gym expert but I've belonged here for the last 3 years & have had no problems with staff or getting my workout in. Parking was expanded a while back which helped quite a bit & the gym itself could certainly be expanded but in general I think it's pretty great as is. During non-peak hours there's usually around a dozen or so people working out which is decent & during peak times it's busy, of course, but honestly what gym isn't busy at peak times? I go during peak times often enough & although every once in a while I may have to wait 5 minutes to use a machine I think that's probably only happened a handful of times in a few years. I usually just adjust & use a different machine while I "wait". Honestly never had to wait for more than 1 machine in a workout ever. Maybe that depends on the machines you use, but it's never been a problem for me or any of the guests I've brought. I do like that you can pay a little extra & bring a friend every single time if you want, they have good classes (though I wish they had spinning!) & it's generally pretty clean & tidy. I've never used their personal trainers but I know a friend who has done their group training (it's cheaper than one-on-one) & she loved it & lost the weight she wanted before her wedding. Never used the shake bar so I can't speak on that. read more
