F45 is the first gym of its type that I've taken classes at or been a member of, and I'm glad it's been the starting point for me to compare other functional fitness gyms to. I've a membership to the Folsom location and occasionally visit the Roseville location using their passport visit option (a friend of mine goes there).
The current class time offerings are versatile, though I remain partial to morning workouts, and the coaches [somehow still] are energetic, friendly, and helpful with form, modifications, and encouragement regardless of the time of day.
I appreciate that they switch up the workout styles every few weeks in phases, though they keep the same types of workouts (from what I've seen so far) depending on the type of day, like M/W/F strength and progressive overload focused with other days of the week either being cardio or hybrid focused. I went from a very rigid, consistent hypertrophy program of upper/lower with the same movements each workout at a commercial gym to what initially felt like chaos when switching to F45's formatting, but I quickly came to love the hype and urgency in each class, which has forced me to figure out how to progressively overload in a shorter period of time.
Basically, F45 taught me to just send it when it comes to heavier weight, and their classes have helped me break out of strength plateaus in certain compound lifts while I'm learning how to train for agility and explosiveness in movements I've never done before, like box jumps.
I cannot recommend this location enough and will continue to politely harass my other friends to "just do one!" class with me. read more
