Unethical billing and patient payment practices. They do not disclose, despite requiring you review a LOT of paperwork before your appointment, that they charge a 3% rate on all card transactions until AFTER your appointment. The only sign about this is on the counter behind the door you go through to see the dentist so there is no way to see it before your appt. They'll accept cash, but they don't carry change. I won't be returning to be overcharged, especially in such duplicitous ways. Edit: The dentist and business owner has responded and clarified some things. I'm glad to hear they will be making it clear to patients before they enter for their appts that they will be charged an extra 3% for credit cards. Honestly, because we are charged a deposit for our appointment (I had to give a credit card over the phone when I called to make my first appointment) I hope this is made clear when a patient first makes an appointment or gives over cc information. While this practice may be common at small businesses it is not common at many medical offices. Also, when it was communicated to me at the desk I was told it was for all card transactions (including debit cards) when I attempted to pay for my services, which is why it felt particularly unethical. Not carrying change apparently means the extra is credited to your account. This was also never communicated to me when I expressed frustration with these policies only being shared with me after services already rendered while I was attempting to pay. I appreciate the owner receiving this feedback, but am nonetheless confused why I received such differing information at the desk than is being communicated here. read more

The team at Hayward Dental Arts answered all of my concerns regarding my pregnancy and constant throwing up, which had me worried about the health of my teeth. The dentist made me feel completely at ease, did a very thorough check, and reassured me that everything looked okay. I did need a deeper cleaning, and he explained that I had a little more bleeding than normal, which is common during and slightly after pregnancy. I really appreciated how informative, patient, and understanding everyone was throughout the visit. Overall, 5/5 service. When we argued about that I said she would call you and tell you that you are wrong and she did so. She does NOT make dentures. Also, STOP trying to confuse people and tell the Truth: You specifically said "DENTURES" not crowns, fixtures or ANYTHING else. You said my front teeth are a "Denture Bridge". I said that you are simply someone just looking for money: EVERY SINGLE Doctor issues quotes all the time. I had an emergency that knocked out my entire front teeth. My fav dentist. The staff is super chill and welcoming, which already makes it way less stressful walking in. I usually hate going to the dentist because I had some bad experiences--dentists ripping up my gums, charging crazy amounts, not explaining anything. Dr. Tsai is the complete opposite. The first time I was there, I asked him to go over the bill with me and he actually did it himself. He broke down what each charge was for, what my insurance covered, and why it was there. That made me feel like he genuinely cared that I understood what was happening with my money instead of just rushing me through. I'd had a really bad experience before coming here--got overcharged for unnecessary treatments and left feeling taken advantage of. Let me start of by saying, I hate the dentist. I had terrible experiences as a kid so I was so bad with my dental health and it was embarrassing. Dr. Tsai and he crew changed all that! My first appointment with Dr. Tsai was before the dental insurance for my new job kicked in. I had this horrible dental pain -- I called toward of business day one day and was able to be seen the next day. I explained my fear of dentists and he was so non judgemental, took his time to explain everything and expertly assessed and executed a plan to stop the pain. He was very clear to call in anytime if there were any complications from the extraction and I was so grateful! Once my insurance kicked in I made my way to Dr. Tsai again to continue my treatment plan. After so many years of neglecting my teeth, it feels good to get back on track. The area is clean and up to date. The staff are phenomenal and friendly. He threw his hands up after their first denial and said there was nothing he could do. Case closed. Maybe if you spent 2 hours trying to fix things with the insurance instead of complaining about my honest experience you would not be getting a review like this. - So, long story short again, if you want to spend $600 to get your teeth cleaned, go to Hayward dental arts. -PS - you use a customers cell phone to schedule appointments or give them updates. I've been looking for a dentist that takes my insurance & it's been a headache. So I did a Google search & found "Hayward Dental Arts". I've passed by this place many times as it is next to Popeyes The sign just says DENTIST, so I never gave it a second thought, other than thinking that I would ever set foot in that place!! BUT let me say this after seeing he had 183 five star (soon to be 184) reviews on Google & his ratings on Yelp, oh & by the way he responded to every review on here I decided to give him a try. I'm soooooo glad I did. The office has a small waiting room but very clean, smelled great, not your regular nasty dentist smell of teeth being drilled. I was amazed when I got to the back, again looks can be deceiving, it's pretty big & there are TV's in every room so you can be entertained while waiting. I absolutely hate, hate needles & I had to get a chip tooth & filling done. We'll let me just say this, I felt a tiny poke & that was it, I wanted to jump for joy!!! I know this is long but really wanted to get my point across. I also needed an implant that I've been putting off for years (the denture I have just doesn't work for me) Dr Tsai gave me a full breakdown of what I needed, the price the ins pays & my portion in writing. No other dentist explained to me that my insurance will pay majority, so I'm schedule to get it done next month!!! Made an appointment for my husband and daughter and they took care of getting information from my carrier. (Loved that!) They went in and got their teeth x-rayed, cleaned and done! No cavities for either one. We went to a different dental office about six months before going to Hayward Dental Arts and they told me my daughter had 10 cavities! Wow! Just came back from my visit to this dental office. I chose this dental office based on good review ratings. Arrived at the office at 10:49am for the 11:00am appointment. Filled out the forms and was led to dental chair at around 11:05am. Waited on the chair for a while, then Xray was taken, then was left watching TV for a while. When Dr Tsai started doing dental cleaning, it was 11:56am. It took Dr Tsai a total of 7 min to finish everything ("cleaning", polishing, and flossing). The cleaning was done by the Dr himself, with no one else assisting him. By the time I was told everything was done, it was 12:03pm. I gave it a lower rating before, but what happened after my initial review made me change my mind. Dr Tsai followed up with several options to make it up to me, including a free clean up, or refund me for the visit. I chose the refund, and arranged an appointment at another dental office. He always checks in to make sure I'm doing okay, answers all my questions and explains things thoroughly. He and his staff are super friendly and accommodating. Each room has a TV loaded with streaming apps and I have the option to watch something as I get comfortable and wait for the doctor. Wait times are reasonable and have not gone beyond 10 or 15 minutes. I get reminder calls or text messages for upcoming appointments. They were even able to see me within the hour of calling with a dental emergency.
