The bus driver blocked a few cars from getting out of the lot, once asked to do something about it, he said that he has to go do something else before moving the vehicle. Since we moved to Virginia four years ago, Fabbioli has been our go-to vineyard -- both for ourselves and to impress our visitors. Their wine is some of the best -- if not the best -- in the region and the people are super nice. That's why it really pains me to write that their new tasting room robs them of the ambiance that was a major draw to the vineyard. For me, the experience is just as important as the wine, and Fabbioli used to have it all. But this year, they opened a new tasting room, shuttering their old one. We were really excited to visit the new tasting building -- in pictures, it is gorgeous. But in person, it is echo-y and lacks character. I felt like I was in a cafeteria. The laid-back charm of this vineyard is gone without their old tasting room. Their wine is still excellent, but the new building makes it feel impersonal and business-y. read more

Pretty nice yet small winery. Glad we stopped there but I probably wouldn't head back again. We are not from the area but decided to stop here first for our winery trip in the area. The tasting ($15) was a bit expensive to me, but it did come with an interesting food pairing which was nice. We decided not to purchase any bottles because honestly they were a bit pricey. They had a nice upstairs area where you can sit and have flights and food, which would be nice but we decided not to eat there. It had a nice view and I'm sure it would look even better during the summer or when the grape vines are in the vineyard! I tend to collect wine glasses on my trips, and usually tastings come with them for free but this was you had to pay $5 more for. So that wasn't cool to be honest ha! Overall nice to stop at but glad we didn't spend more time here than we did. read more

My friends and I regularly visit wineries in the area and of the 30+ we have been to in NoVA, this is the only one that has been so unwelcoming and downright rude. We had a group of 10 that showed up over the course of 7-8 minutes, and we did not expect to do tastings together. In fact, we even explicitly said they can take a couple of us at a time and the rest can wait, whatever was convenient for them. My boyfriend and I actually got a private tasting with a wonderful employee, 3 of my other friends did the tasting with another employee at the same time, and then the other 5 did it together. The manager made numerous rude comments right in front of us and was bossy. She acted as if we were a major inconvenience. Fortunately, the friendly employees working at the tasting tables made up for it. Next time we will give our business to the neighboring wineries that have always been incredibly friendly and accommodating (even when I had a going away party of 25+ people!) such as Winery 32, Hidden Brook, and Lost Creek and skip this one. read more

I have been to several wine tastings, and at first this appeared to be not the norm. We came in paid the $15 for the tasting with food pairing. We were greeted by such great staff and escorted to our tasting table, where you can sit vs stand....something different than other vineyards......and then all went down hill. Because of our server Our wine tasting server, I'll call her J acted like she could not be bothered and that it hurt her to serve us, smile or even talk louder when I asked as I have hearing issues ( there were several parties that were loud which made hearing difficult) After going to many tastings I'm a true believer that the person who pours can make a difference on the experience...and with J, she made it appear that we were bothering her to even sit down in her presence. Visited here on Sunday with my daughter and did the wine tasting paired with small bites. I think there were 7 wines, and 6 of them were paired with a small bite. It was interesting to see how the food changed the flavor of the wine. Unfortunately, it was quite rushed. It maybe took 12 minutes from first sip, to "move on, you're done". It was $16 pp for the tasting, and you truly only get a sip of each wine. After the tasting, we bought a flight of 4 wines, and sat out on the patio overlooking the vineyards. Will be beautiful when the fruit is on vine! You can buy wine flights and there are several options- all white, all reds, or you pick 4. If we go back, that's what we will do again as you get a nice pour with the flights. Also, they have food there for purchase and it looked good. I liked the Barbera ($35/bottle) and my daughter liked the Petit Manseng ($26/bottle). We both liked the Raspberry Merlot but it was $24 for a 35 ml bottle, so didn't purchase. This used to be one of my favorite vineyards to bring my family to when they visited. No longer. My family and I were forced to move from the "21 and over adult area" which was completely empty due to the fact that we had an eight month old with us. This place is NOT family friendly. They force people with their children to sit on hard chairs in the woods with mosquitoes while two other people sit on cushioned seats. Do not come here if you want to feel welcomed. We started off our wine tour here and opted for the $15 food/wine pairing. Our wine pourer was pleasant but she started turning too chatty for our whole group. Like diahhrea of the mouth. We were trying to be polite but she started to ruin the experience a bit (she had rainbow hair too). Like she wouldn't pour and talk, she would sit and ramble about nothingness. It got to be too much. Our favorite wine was their Chardonnay and Paco Rojo, which we bought a bottle of. I like that they offered a food pairing, that's something different than a lot of wineries up in Leesburg. Overall we had a great time here! Wow was so good and it was nice to have food paired with each one. It was nice to sit with our group for the tasting and male who did our tasting was so great, kind and knowledgeable. Doug seems like a great guy, loved all the stories. The complaint that they are commercialized is a little unfair. They grew and naturally created more products because these products became in demand. My only complaint was the two older women at the checkout. The one in particular was SO rude. All six people in my party bought a bottle and food (giving money to the establishment) and she made eye contact with no one, short answers, almost as if we were bothering her. Not smiling, and like a little attitude almost. I thought one of us upset her so I tried to be extra nice but then later talking with other friends about how great the winery is and suggesting the wine club...they had the exact same complaint. The wine club seems like a Great deal and if we lived in the area we would join but our friends have had consistent poor exchanges with these middle aged women at the counter so they are hesitant to join. Which is too bad since the bearded guy who did our tasting was SO kind and made the actual tasting so enjoyable and everything else was nice too. Weird. We ran into these wines by chance at a Christmas show at the Dulles Expo last year. They were tasting along with a bunch of other Virginia wineries, and we (of course) stopped to try them all. :) I have admitted before to being a wine snob - I am, I can't help it. I far prefer California and French wines to most others. They know what they're doing, and most other places just haven't caught up and frankly don't have the weather and terrain to make great wines. However, being a wine lover in general, I still love trying wines wherever we go, and you never know when you'll find a gem. Virginia makes a few good wines and there's a surprise waiting for you somewhere. (See, I really am a snob - but I'm an honest snob...) So we are tasting a bunch of wines at the Expo, most of which frankly sucked, but there are a few which are not bad, and we come to the Fabbioli table. The bottles are really pretty, which is nice, but doesn't necessarily mean anything. We taste the first few, and they are pretty darn good - the Cabernet Franc is actually really good. Then we try the blackberry merlot - wow!!! Not a crappy sweet fruit wine for teenagers, this is a truly excellent dessert wine. Sweet, yes, but not like a bottle of soda. You can taste the fruit clearly and it has a mellow finish. Seriously - yummy! Then they drop the bomb - we can't buy it. They've sold out for the day. Crap! We're drawn in. I will not forget this wine. This was back in November or December, something like that. So here it is March, and we finally make the trek out to Leesburg to visit. We had planned to visit several other wineries along the way, but we slept in very late that day and didn't get there till around 4. Irrelevant, all we really wanted was the blackberry merlot. We were more than a little surprised to find the tasting room full to capacity. I know - I'm a snob. But I didn't realize so many people went tasting around here. Interesting. So we waited a few minutes and then a table opened up. We tasted the full menu, found several we enjoyed, and bought four bottles. Two bottles of the wine we came for, but also the Cabernet Franc reserve, which was really tasty (Virginia does seem to do Franc very well) and a bottle of their Pear wine - it's a fortified wine, can't remember what it's called, and it's not on their website. Anyway, it's very smooth and makes a nice nightcap. The Tre Sorelle was very nice as well, almost bought a bottle of that, but chose not to in the end. The winery is apparently run out of the home of the owners. The tasting room is in the basement, but that makes it sound icky - it's actually very beautiful. The house is on a large piece of land on a rolling green hill. To get there you drive over a one-lane bridge and up a somewhat rocky dirt road past - surprise surprise - a llama farm! Very interesting... When we pulled up, there were quite a few cars parked, and as we walked toward the doors, there were folks seated outside around a lovely fire pit, drinking glasses of wine. There was also an outside tasting table, but it was a somewhat chilly day, so that one wasn't open. I imagine on beautiful days it is an amazing place to taste outdoors. Inside the room is more spacious than it would appear from outside. There are at least three tasting areas, possibly four - one of which is a pool table covered up to be a tasting table. Very cute. There is a rotating promo rack near the front with lots of good wine info available for free. They have pretty wine glasses - we purchased one to add to our extensive collection. The tastings are free - as they should be. Paying for tastings is ridiculous anywhere, but in Virginia? No way. The folks there were extremely friendly and we had a good time tasting. They were happy to hear we had tasted their wines before and had made the trip especially to visit them. However, they pushed the wine club a bit much. On the way out, we noticed a huge stainless steel vat and went over to investigate. It was full of raspberries! I took a huge whiff - heavenly! I would love to have learned what they were going to do with them, or had a tour of the winery itself - maybe next time. Fabbioli has good wine but they are a bit overpriced for tastings. We did purchase their pear wine and love it but whenever you go for a tasting they are overly crowded and the staff is almost never pleasant. The new space is nice but it is still SO crowded and they no longer allow dogs. I was disappointed also in asking about venue rental information for my wedding in November 2017 that unless we are current members we are unable to even get information. I asked about becoming a member and was told there is a 6 month wait list for membership so they are not able to even give me information for a rental over a year away. I do not think we will be coming back here unless it is a last resort on a day we have nothing better to do and every other winery in the area is closed. read more

My husband and I have been to hundreds of wineries around the world and never been told that we cannot share a tasting, EVER and have never been treated so rudely. There were four of us in our group, we paid for 3 tastings and after we started the tastings I shared a sip from my tasting with my husband, the second time I did this the staff member told us that I was not allowed to share my tasting. REALLY?!? We didn't ask for any extra, only what we'd paid for and it wasn't posted ANYWHERE that this was their policy. Any why is it their policy? Is it because they are greedy and insist that everyone pay? They seem to be doing a booming business but I guess with some companies it's never enough. Good wine and unique tasting experience, as the wines are paired with a lovely presentation of small bites (gourmet meat, cheese, chocolate.). They offer some good wine gifts too--unique three tiered wine bottle, a peer inside of a skull shaped wine bottle, etc. The interior is comparatively small and shabby chic, but comfortable. Outside there is some shaded table seating under a pergola and a nice fire pit seating area with cushioned chairs. The two times I've visited, I've found the owner to be snooty and unpleasant. She hovers around the lobby and outside like an overlord, enforcing "rules." I get that you have to keep things running smoothly, but I found it hard to relax with her around. Yesterday was my first visit to this winery and I was very impressed! The inside and outside of the "Tasting Building" were wonderful! They also have separate tasting rooms/sitting areas and outdoor areas for families with children. At first, this seemed a little strange but I'm sure people who do not have children really appreciate it. The $15 tasting included 7 wines (on the day we were there but I understand that they change it monthly) AND 5 "mini-bites" of gourmet food. It was fascinating to see how the food pairing changed the taste of the wine. All "mini-bites" were available for sale in a larger portion. Also, if you are a LCPS employee, tastings are 1/2 price with your ID! We sat in an arbor covered patio outside at a high top table and had a wonderful time! We will DEF be back! read more

We had a great wine tasting experience a few weekends ago. First, they have great outside seating and multiple tables for you to have a snack and drink more wine. The wine tasting was good. The wines were paired with small food items which complimented the flavors. I am not a fan of sweeter wines, but if you are, this place is for you. The raspberry merlot is good and I could see that as a dessert wine. The tasting room is nice with multiple tasting tables. Just know that the road to the vineyard is a country dirt road. I'm quite surprised Fabbioli's doesn't have an average of a 5 star rating!! I've lived in Loudoun County all my life. Coming from someone who has visited over 20 of the wineries here in the area, Fabbioli's has always been my top favorite, and therefore it naturally made sense to become a member. As a member, every quarter you get 3 wines (one of the owners choice, two of your choice) and either 6 free tastings OR glasses of wine - all for $75! Their wine alone is easily worth that. I have yet to have been to any winery that has food samples with their tasting (of which the staff is all involved in helping choose every month, which was pretty amazing to me), holds a majority of red wine (I'm pretty picky, and obsessed with every red wine they have), and is operated by an owner (Doug) who is dedicated to helping give back to other breweries in the area (grows hops on his farmlands for others to brew with!). No matter the season, their seating areas are extremely accommodating. The fire pits are my favorite, but if need be indoors, the upstairs seating arrangement is so cute! All in all, if you're in any hesitation for choosing one winery or another, it shouldn't be a question. Get on over to Fabbiolis!! read more

I really enjoyed my trip to Fabbioli Cellars. It may just become my go-to place in the area. The atmosphere is nice yet relaxed, and the staff was superb. To top it off, and perhaps most importantly, their wine is pretty good--I walked away with 4 bottles. At $10, their tasting price for 8 wines is average and reasonable. Tastings also come with a savory or dessert pairing; you get to choose either to accompany your wine tastings (but don't come expecting a meal because the accompaniments are one bite-sized). I really enjoyed their Something White ($16 per bottle) and Cabernet Franc ($19); surprisingly, this dessert wine hater really enjoyed their Raspberry Merlot ($22 yum)! If you tilt your head up while you are tasting you'll notice a Star Wars theme and some interesting hobby results. Their tasting bars have stools (nice) and their is also outdoor seating. Our party of 4 really enjoyed the interaction with our server. The wine got to me so I forget her name, but try to get the nice young Bulgarian lady. She was very knowledgeable and a great hostess/server. The staff that greeted us as we walked in and out were also very pleasant and professional. Great wine. Fabulous experience. I visited this winery on a Leesburg winery tour based upon the advice of yelp reviewers ,and it was definitely the best wine-tasting experience we had all day! We were fortunate that it was not very crowded when we visited. The tasting was so much fun. You pay $7.00 and get to try at least 5-6 wines (including their fabulous dessert wines). They have small food pairings (like olives, salami or cheese) for you to try as you taste each type pf wine. This made the whole experience much more fun and interesting for me. I was also really pleasantly surprised by the wine, all of their reds are very good and they have a new white wine that I enjoyed as well. I thought all of the wines definitely rivaled any of those that I tried in Napa. As the other reviewers have commended, their raspberry merlot is divine. The winery is on the side of their house and has a small picnic area as well as a lovely farm. However, it is not a winery that holds events, so it is not the experience that you would get at Tarara or at some of the larger nearby wineries where they have large seating areas. read more

Great wines, terrible staff. They probbaly have the best sweet wines in the county but their red wines are overpriced and can easily be compared with what you would find on any supermarket. Also, if you are not white, this is not the place for you. While they will serve you, you will inmedietly notice the dfference on how they treat you vs how they treat all others. If I can only go to one Virginia winery again, it's Fabbioli. Their wines are consistently excellent; not just "good for VA wines", but really good, and they have a great selection. What really puts it over the top is the food pairings. They're so thoughtful about what they pair, and it's a really fun way to taste. We have been doing our own wine tour in VA and the stop before us recommended Fabbioli because they do food pairing with their wine. It's not cheap, but is a fun experience and worth it in our opinion. The only thing that really turned me off about this place is how the blonde woman spoke to us. Because the gentleman at the last winery we stopped at told us to mention them and their recommendation to go there, we did. When we came in, we paid for the wine tasting and the person ringing us up asked for our IDs. We were like oh ok and working on fishing out our IDs. The blonde woman spoke out saying well we have to do it, just because you were throwing around names and wineries doesn't mean you don't get ID'd...you could be anyone and bust us for not carding. And we were like whoa...ok....we didn't say anything at all. Just "oh ok" and this blonde woman got defensive for no reason at all. We find it a compliment to be asked for IDs, so this woman's response and reaction towards us was unwarranted and uncalled for. The rest of the staff were more than pleasant and we would return because the tasting itself was fun...not so much the treatment from this particular woman. They have nice outside seating (not a place with a view if that is what you are looking for) and have a nice selection of white and reds and some fruit/red wine mixtures. I have to say to so may thing those fruit/wine mixes but I m sure there are some lovers out there! I have to say the chocolate/wine pairing was amazing and the chocolates - a woman from Leesburg apparently makes them - were amazing. And at $10 pop a bargain! I used to love this place but not anymore. They increased everything from wine tasting ($10 to $15) with 7 pairing tiny food and member from $50 to $75 (but I noticed they have lowered it to $60). I'm sure a lot of people complained the 50% increased in membership, that's why I cancelled my membership immediately! The wines are not bad for Virginia wines, but mediocre compare with CA wines. After having bad experienced with those stingy pourers, I'm completely done! They just destroyed the whole experienced of what wine tastings were about! I would rather to get a nice bottle or two of CA wines to enjoy for the same price of two wine tasting! $15 wine tasting is a huge ripoff! read more

If I could give a review of 0 stars, I would. This place is horrible. The only thing that brought us back a second time were the views and semi-comfortable seating. Unfortunately, the wine is pretty bad and worst of all, the staff is incredibly rude. If you are looking for a family-friendly winery in VA DO NOT GO HERE! The patrons do not seem to mind children, but for some reason the staff make every attempt possible to single out parents and make them feel incredibly unwelcome and uncomfortable. We came here on a Saturday afternoon - the weather was perfect and the Fabbioli's was buzzing. Good thing we had a reservation! Our group was quite large - 14 people; however Fabbioli's was on their toes, ready to accommodate us. Fabbioli's is interesting, in the sense that it offers food pairings along with their wine. The food pairings truly helped bring out all of those hidden flavors and accented their already flavorful wine. Everyone enjoyed the blends that we tried and most, if not all, of our group ended up purchasing bottles. I liked the Rose, Something White and the Chambourcin. I would definitely suggest coming here and enjoying the wine and a table with a nice view of the lawn. There was a dog frisbee contest going on that day, so there were a lot of cute pups around! Let me start by saying I work at two wineries in Northern Virginia and I know customer service and I know how to pour. This winery is lovely. The wine is good. The pairings with the tasting are great. The problem is the pours are microscopic! I don't think I was given an ounce of wine. If I had been paying for my tasting I would have complained. It was barely a sip! Because I work in the industry I was given a free tasting. The others at my "seated" tasting were paying customers and they should have complained. Really great experience here. The tasting done with pairings of food was awesome, especially since the wines complemented each bite so well. Although their whites are a bit more citrusey then some I have tried, they still were very good and I enjoyed my glass of chardonnay. I loved the raspberry merlot.. the taste is amazing, I just wish it were a tad cheaper. My only concern is that I'm not sure that there is much seating in the colder months so this is more of nice weather destination as they have a few outdoor seating areas. read more

Fantastic place for wine tasting! As part of a group of friends celebrating our soon-to-be bride, this was our second stop for wine tasting. This place has wine tasting w pairings for $15 which is a little pricier, but well worth the cost. Most of their wines seemed more fruity (which is totally down my alley!), and I really liked how you sip the wine, eat the food, and drink the rest of the wine and taste how the food accentuates the flavor of the wine. I think my favorite pairing when I went was the raspberry merlot paired with chocolate truffles. Also loved the Rosa Luna and Una Pera wines Also, as a tip: their honey goat cheese is just amazing. Post tasting, we got some baguettes and honey goat cheese and just chilled in the seating they had outside. They have a nice (dog friendly!) environment for hanging out. read more
