The Bordeaux, Cab Sauv were very good, and the Norton was almost like a port, which I really enjoy. The Petit Verdot was the weakest of the batch by far and one I would never touch again. On the other end was the Carmenere which was an excellent wine I would absolutely come back for. Its quite a pleasant winery with some very good wines to try.

I love being able to experience Virginia wines while living in a different state and I love having my membership benefits when I do visit the area. The staff at Sunset Hills vineyard has always been welcoming, knowledgeable and hospitable. In addition, they are great with managing my shipments and account from afar and they make it easy to customize a shipment if you prefer different wines than they are offering. Their food service is great for pairing, I absolutely love their ciabatta bread and warm cheese spread with honey. My favorite thing to do is stop in, taste what is new and share a bottle and some snacks with friends while enjoying the views. Whether I am enjoying live music inside in the winter months or sitting on the deck or outdoor covered area in the summer months, Sunstet Hills Vinyard is my happy place to unwind.

The driveway and parking lots are gravel. I recommend parking at the first lot for the tasting room. I didn't see the upper level of the barn during my visit. I ordered a flight of 4 wines for $17 from the menu. I like that I can customize my selections from a list of whites/reds, instead of a flight of all whites or all reds. There are tables and chairs indoors, and they do have tables and chairs outdoors as well. The outdoor view is simple, nothing special. 3 more couples arrived after we sat down to enjoy our flight, so it was not completely empty, but it felt quiet.
